Mobile Healthcare (mHealth) systems use mobile smartphones and portable sensor kits to provide improved and affordable healthcare solutions to underserved communities or to individuals with reduced mobility who need regular monitoring. the architectural constraints of such systems provide a variety of computing challenges: the distributed nature of the system;mobility of the persons and devices involved;asynchrony in communication;security, integrity and authenticity of the data collected;and a plethora of administrative domains and the legacy of installed electronic health/medical systems. the volume of data collected can be very large;together with the data, there is a large amount of metadata as well. We argue that certain metadata are essential for interpreting the data and assessing their quality. there is great variety in the kinds of medical data and metadata, the methods by which they are collected and administrative constraints on where they may be stored, which suggest the need for flexible distributed data repositories. there also are concerns about the veracity of the data, as well as interesting questions about who owns the data and who may access them. We argue that traditional notions of relational databases, and security techniques such as access control and encryption of communications are inadequate. Instead, end-to-end systematic (from sensor to cloud) information flow techniques need to be applied for integrity and secrecy. these need to be adapted towork with the volume and diversity of data collected, and in a federated collection of administrative domains where data from different domains are subject to different information flow policies.

We introduce 'Copper,' a generic browser for the internet of things based on the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP). Current estimates foresee that the number of networked embedded devices encompassed by the internet of things will be vast. Additionally, most systems will be optimized for the constrained environment with its limited energy and bandwidth. these factors make it difficult for users to observe and control the devices. thus, a major problem will be node and network management, as experienced before in large wireless sensor network deployments. By adopting well-known patterns from the Web, such as browsing, bookmarking, and linking, we provide a user-friendly management tool for networked embedded devices. By integrating it into the Web browser, we allow for intuitive interaction and a presentation layer that is originally missing in the CoAP protocol suite.

Cloud computing (CC) has generated interest from both industry and academia over these years. As an extension of Grid computing and distributed computing, CC aims to provide users with flexible services in a transparent manner. the distributed implementation of CC creates a suitable environment for easy targets, vulnerable and prone to sophisticated attacks. Commonly virtualization is the most utilized technology to implement a Cloud environment with a massive multi-tenancy usage, opening a door to a whole other level of security issues. this creates new targets for intrusion due to the complexity of access and difficulty in monitoring all interconnection points between systems, applications, and data sets. this raises many questions about the appropriate infrastructure, processes, and strategy for enacting detection and response to intrusion in a Cloud environment. this article discusses the security and the visibility issues of inter-VM traffic and solutions for it within a Cloud environment context, by proposing an approach relying on distributed intrusion detection technique and packet inspection. For the realization of future wireless networks, gigabit wireless technology which can achieve higher-than-1Gbps data transmission with extremely low transmit power is indispensable. We have been studying the distributed antenna network (DAN) and the frequency-domain wireless signal processing. In DAN, many antennas or clusters of antennas are spatially distributed over a service area and they are connected by means of optical fiber links with DAN signal processing center (SPC). A number of distributed antennas cooperatively serve mobile users using spatial multiplexing, diversity, array or relaying technique. In this paper, the recent research advances of gigabit DAN and its related wireless techniques are introduced.

Virtual machine technology and the ease with which VMs can be migrated within the LAN, has changed the scope of resource management from allocating resources on a single server to manipulating pools of resources within a data center. We expect WAN migration of virtual machines to likewise transform the scope of provisioning compute resources from a single data center to multiple data centers spread across the country or around the world. In this paper we present the CloudNet architecure as a cloud framework consisting of cloud computing platforms linked with a VPN based network infrastructure to provide seamless and secure connectivity between enterprise and cloud data center sites. To realize our vision of efficiently pooling geographically distributed data center resources, CloudNet provides optimized support for live WAN migration of virtual machines. Specifically, we present a set of optimizations that minimize the cost of transferring storage and virtual machine memory during migrations over low bandwidth and high latency internet links. We evaluate our system on an operational cloud platform distributed across the continental US. During simultaneous migrations of four VMs between data centers in Texas and Illinois, CloudNet's optimizations reduce memory migration time by 65% and lower bandwidth consumption for the storage and memory transfer by 19GB, a 50% reduction.

With the further development of internet of things technology, due to the increasing data and poor expansibility of the traditional storage architecture, it will become increasingly complex and lead to high energy consumption. Different from the traditional storage system, the distributed cloud storage system can realize the storage of massive information, the management of files with large scale, and provide high query efficiency. this paper firstly presents the current problems lying in the heterogeneous data processing, then the cloud storage architecture and MapReduce programming model are introduced for the ClassifyMapReduce algorithm proposition. Finally, considering the processing methods of distributed computing and cloud computing models, advantages and disadvantages of MapReduce programming model, and the characteristics of heterogeneous data in IoT system, this paper proposes a parallel storage algorithm, ClassifyMapReduce, which is composed of three systemic functions: Classify function, Map function and Reduce function. Our experiment shows that it classifies the original heterogeneous data flow according to the data type to realize parallel processing, which greatly improves the storage and access efficiency.

this paper presents a High Performance computing-based application for 3D structural analysis of buildings. Since the solution of a large linear system of sparse equations supposes the most time-consuming phase, several public domain parallel numerical libraries, with state-of-the-art capabilities, have been tested. the parallel application developed allows reducing the analysis time and simulating larger structures. Nevertheless, structural engineers rarely have available high cost parallel machines. thus, a Grid Structural Analysis service, that integrates the parallel application, has been implemented, taking advantage of computers geographically distributed in internet. this service makes it possible to simulate in a realistic way, and concurrently, a high number of different structural alternatives of large dimension buildings during their design stage, without considering structural simplifications or investing in expensive computers. As a high-risk industry, coal-mining's safety has always been a social focus. By using some emerging information technology, we propose an effective solution to improve the safety of coal-mining. In this paper, we design and implement a Mine Mobile Information System by integrating internet of things and Mobile internet. With the client application developed on Android system, users could learn environment information and coal production anytime and anywhere. It should be much helpful for coal-mine enterprises to prevent accidents and to improve efficiency.

As the Web 2.0 technology is becoming popular, people are eager to access the internet at anytime and anyplace. In this paper, we present an internet connectivity sharing system, called iShare, based on the concept of ad-hoc networking. In iShare, the efficiency and load-balancing issues are considered. Also, the functionalities of gateway discovery/selection and routing inter-operability as well as address assignment, IP tunneling, and firewall/NAT are designed and implemented. the experimental results for our implementation prototype indicate that the performance of our iShare system is acceptable for internet connectivity to access HTTP services.

With the development of cloud computing, it needs high performance, availability and scalability of storage service. In shared storage environment based on the opening storage architecture, due to the inadaptability of the cache management, cache located on access paths provides performance acceleration, but limits availability and scalability of cloud storage system. this paper studies previous cache management technology of cluster or distributed system, and puts emphasis on availability and consistency, which bring down availability and scalability of cloud storage system. Moreover, this paper also analyzes the adaptability of previous cache management technology for shared storage environment.
