the Steiner tree problem is one of the fundamental optimization problems in distributed graph algorithms. Recently Saikia and Karmakar [27] proposed a deterministic distributed algorithm for the Steiner tree problem that constructs a Steiner tree in O(S + root n log* n) rounds whose cost is optimal upto a factor of 2(1 - 1/l), where n and S are the number of nodes and shortest path diameter [17] respectively of the given input graph and l is the number of terminal leaf nodes in the optimal Steiner tree. the message complexity of the algorithm is O(Delta(n - t)S + n(3/2)), which is equivalent to O(mS + n(3/2)), where. is the maximum degree of a vertex in the graph, t is the number of terminal nodes (we assume that t < n), and m is the number of edges in the given input graph. this algorithm has a better round complexity than the previous best algorithm for Steiner tree construction due to Lenzen and Patt-Shamir [21]. In this paper we present a deterministic distributed algorithm which constructs a Steiner tree in <(O)over tilde> (S + root n) rounds and (O) over tilde (mS) messages and still achieves an approximation factor of 2(1 - 1/l). Note here that (O) over tilde (center dot) notation hides polylogarithmic factors in n. this algorithm improves the message complexity of Saikia and Karmakar's algorithm by dropping the additive term of O(n(3/2)) at the expense of a logarithmic multiplicative factor in the round complexity. Furthermore, we show that for sufficiently small values of the shortest path diameter (S = O(log n)), a 2(1- 1/l)-approximate Steiner tree can be computed in (O) over tilde (root n) rounds and (O) over tilde (m) messages and these complexities almost coincide with the results of some of the singularly-optimal minimum spanning tree (MST) algorithms proposed in [9,12,23].

this research work presents an approach for smart home automation using IoT which can be controlled wirelessly. the home automation system means monitoring and controlling of home appliances remotely using the concept of internet of things (IOT). this is an internet of things project. Using ESP32 microcontroller and Firebase, one can remotely control four relays with the internet. In this ESP32 project, four household appliances can be controlled from smartphones as well as manual switches. If there is no internet, the relay module can be controlled by manual switches. If Wi-Fi is available, the ESP32 will connect to it automatically. the internet of things allows us to control our home automation system from anywhere in the globe. It lowers the use of superfluous or excessive human effort and raises the level of living in our society. Home automation with IOT is a low-cost and dependable automation technology which can minimize the energy usage while also providing convenience to the users. © 2022 IEEE.

Load balancing is very important and a common problem in distributed systems. the load balancing mechanism aims to fairly distribute load across the resources so as to optimize a given objective function. the objective can be system optimality which tries to minimize mean response time of all users or individual optimality which tries to minimize each user’s individual response time. the load balancing can be achieved either statically or dynamically. In this paper we review, competitive equilibrium (CE) approach for static load balancing and then propose recursive competitive equilibrium (RCE) approach for dynamic load balancing. A computer model is run to evaluate the performance of proposed RCE scheme with static scheme using Nash equilibrium (NE) approach and the static scheme using CE. the results show that static scheme using CE and dynamic scheme using RCE achieved both system optimality and individual optimality simultaneously, while NE scheme achieved only individual optimality. Moreover the performance of RCE scheme is higher than CE when communication overhead is less and almost same as CE scheme when the communication overhead is more. © 2011, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Cyber Physical Systems (CPS), interconnected smart devices in the internet of things (IoT) and other data sources are increasingly bridging the gap between the physical and digital world by providing fine-grained data about real-world events. Enterprise software systems are adopting the paradigm of event-based systems (EBS) to enable them to react to meaningful events in a timely manner. Smart supply chains fusing dynamic sensor data with information provided by backend-systems are one such example of event-based enterprise systems. Monitoring their global state in an effective way for runtime governance remains an open research challenge: providing the required type of information while trading off precision for costs. We previously introduced application-specific integrated aggregation (ASIA) as a means for collecting metadata in distributed event-based systems. In this paper, we show how ASIA can support IT Service Management in monitoring and governing decentralized event-based enterprise systems at runtime. We present a dashboard based on industry-strength technology as proof of concept and discuss how to integrate usage statistics provided on-the-fly by ASIA into metrics for runtime governance. We evaluate our monitoring approach in terms of performance, scalability and precision.

Fog computing can be considered as one of the trending paradigms, as it has the potential of bringing the end devices closer to the cloud. Fog plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the end user and cloud with low latency, which in turn helps in the better realization of Intelligent IoT. the emergence of IoT applications has paved the way for Semantic Interoperability (SI). Instead of storing raw data, SI attempts to annotate these data with semantic information that ensures smart management of huge volumes of data generated by IoT. Nevertheless, such semantic reasoning in the cloud can be computationally expensive as it deals with enormous amount of incoming data. So, distributing the procedure of semantic reasoning among a hierarchy of distributed fog nodes than in a centralized cloud will gives the better result. this research study investigates how semantics work in fog computing © 2023 IEEE.

the evolution of Cloud computing beyond the frontier of a single datacenter is justified as a mean to enhance various system architecture aspects like: cost, geo-locality, energy efficiency and structural properties. Orchestration of different cloud providers in order to ensure better Quality of Service (QoS) is refered to as Multi-Cloud. One such multi-cloud federation model is Community Clouds, a federation concept in which various micro-clouds are owned by different communities of individuals contributing cloud resources. Community Clouds provide high locality to services towards the user by bringing the Cloud in the edges of the network, and in some cases as an integral part of the access network. Another such type of multi-cloud federation is Structured Cloud Federation for internet Service Providers and Telephony Providers, composed of geo-distributed micro-clouds placed on the edges of the network and a centralized datacenter cloud on the core network. Services deployed in the micro-clouds have augmented locality, while services on the datacenter cloud enhanced performance. In this work we identify how these approaches to multi-cloud, through the ability to deploy services close to the final user, can be exploited to enhance existing real-time streaming applications. Furthermore a novel multi-cloud overlay algorithm is introduced that provides both latency and backbone traffic optimization for latency critical existing and novel services (concretely focusing on stream computation, live streaming).

the proposed scheme is an approach which can be used to improve the performance of traditional image segmentation systems. the scheme is based on a framework that employs the output of an existing image segmentation process together with hierarchical clustering using an information theoretic similarity measure. Experimental results clearly show that when the scheme operates in conjunction with a state of the art image segmentation algorithm, it yields significantly superior performance over a wide spectrum of natural images. these results are based on informal subjective evaluation tests as well as on objective measurements obtained from processing the Berkeley BSDS 300 image dataset. © 2011 IEEE.

Voice over IP (VoIP) technology has proven to be an immensely useful technology during the last decade. Not only it provides various services to users (e. g. calls, instant messaging, internet conferencing etc), but it is also in a process of extending services (e. g. fax service). Due to the open environment of packet switched network, the signaling protocols (such as SIP and H. 323) and the transport protocols (e. g. RTP and SRTP) used by VoIP, it is prone to unwanted accesses and does not comply with the security standards. VoIP is also vulnerable to threats from TCP/IP and UDP. Furthermore, the malicious users can exhaust proxy and end users with INIVTE flooding in SIP. In order to overcome these challenging issues, we propose a simple and robust method to detect INVITE flooding on the SIP proxy server by a strategic proxy model that is based on a user-specified threshold. this model is based on the traffic pattern of normal VoIP traffic and the attacked traffic pattern. Unlike considering only stateful proxies, our model is works for both stateless and stateful proxies.

With the continuous improvement of the performance of the IoT and mobile devices, the IoT technology brings convenience to people's lives but leaks out personal privacy at the same time. Federated learning is a kind of machine learning technology that can protect data privacy. Different from current machine learning methods, Federated learning is usually facing non-Identically Independently Distributions (no-IID) data and keeps data in local places. therefore, the effectiveness of existing machine learning methods in federated learning non-IID issues decreases greatly. At the same time, federated learning needs to interact with multiple edge learning nodes. With the increasing number of edge nodes, the cost of communication becomes higher and higher, and the parameter weight calculation of more independent nodes is also a problem. In this paper, we propose to balance the federated learning model by using Earth Mover's Distance to calculate the weights of different node parameters. Our method can reduce the impact of data non-independent identically distributed problems on the model so that the federated learning model will not be biased to the distributed nodes in the data set. Besides, this paper also proposes a method to compress redundant communication between nodes and servers in the process of training. Experimental results show that this paper method improves the accuracy by about 4% compared with the traditional federal learning average algorithm, and the gradient communication is compressed to about 6% of the original communication times. © 2021 IEEE.
