Electrical distribution systems are facing new challenges mainly due to the growing penetration of distributed generation of mainly intermittent nature such as wind and solar PV. As a result, these systems need to undergo massive transformations in terms of operational scheme. In other words, new operational strategies, which increase the flexibility of distribution systems, have to be put in place. this is highly required if distribution systems are to support large quantities of variable RES power. One plausible strategy worth considering relates to the meshed operation of such systems. the main topic of this paper revolves around the prospects of operating distribution grids in a meshed manner. the benefits are quantified in terms of added flexibility to the system, and vRES utilization levels. A mixed integer linear programming model is employed to perform the required analysis, and a 119-bus distribution system is used for this purpose. the analysis of the results generally shows the strong viability of the new operation strategy in terms of adding flexibility and scaling up the utilization level of variable RES power in the considered system. this strategy can be considered as a viable flexibility option that enables further integration of intermittent power sources.

Real-time functional magnetic resonance imaging neurofeedback (rtfMRI-NF) is biofeedback of real-time fMRI signals for self-regulating brain function. Most studies focus on the task-state rtfMRI-NF for the moment. Furthermore, resting-state analysis brings another angle to explore the neural mechanism of emotion regulation and can be an important way to reflect brain function. Regional homogeneity (ReHo) analysis is a method to study the consistency of the spontaneous neuronal activity between the given voxel and its adjacent voxel in the resting-state. It can reveal the functional and anatomical closely linked neural circuits. In this paper, we designed a rtfMRI-NF experiment for human emotion self-regulation and analyzed brain function after rtfMRI-NF training by ReHo method. In the experiment, the subjects divided into two groups, the experiment and the control group. For the experiment group, through the multivariate voxel pattern analysis (MVPA) calculation of the real-time fMRI system, objects are provided with continuous tracking information display of their emotional state. In the control group, it was the same as that of the experiment group, except for that the feedback value was independent to emotion. We performed the method of ReHo analysis on the resting state data collected from the two groups after the self-regulation tasks, and experiment results showed that there were significantly different between the ReHo maps of the two groups in the temporal lobe, prefrontal cortex, parahippocampal gyrus, and fusiform gyrus. these brain regions were closely related to emotional processing, and the results are consistent with previous studies. Furthermore, ReHo can reflect the characteristic changes of spontaneous neural activity in the brain, it makes another way to help discover the mechanism of neurofeedback, and it can be used as a research direction to assist in the prediction and diagnosis of mental illness.

Demand response (DR) provides enormous opportunities to distribution system operators so as to conduct the power system in a sustainable manner. Due to the increasing penetration of electric vehicles (EV) in the power system, the necessity of enhancing flexibility has gained importance in the charging operation process. With the aid of the smart grid concept and DR programs, more flexible grid operations are provided. In this study, an optimal day-ahead EV charging strategy through electric vehicle parking lots (EVPL) aggregators is intended for the purpose of maximizing the load factor during daily operation. Furthermore, the behavioral uncertainty of EVs and peak load limitation based DR programs are also taken into account in the devised model. In order to reveal the effectiveness of the proposed EVPL aggregator energy management strategy, various case studies are performed, and credible results are reported.

this paper addresses the manufacturing of highly diversified and seasonal products for emerging markets subject to evolution. the high diversity of local markets may require to postpone the final customization during distribution. In that purpose, strategic decisions include to open new distribution and/or customization centres, to define modular capacity acquisition, and close/relocate existing facilities. To this end, we develop a multi-objective mixed-integer nonlinear programming model for the design or re-design of a hybrid distribution network with postponed customization. Two performances measures are considered: maximizing the overall profit and maximizing the use of the assets capacity under budget constraints. To cope with demand fluctuations, we enhance the basic initial model by considering temporary storage outsourcing, progressive capacity expansion and contraction of existing/new established facilities. these strategies will be compared through a "what-if" analysis under different demand patterns based on the realistic case study of a fertilizer distribution and blending network in Africa. © ILS 2018 - Information Systems, Logistics and Supply Chain, Proceedings. Dental indirect veneers have become the most functional and cost-effective method for providing high-aesthetic results whenever smile design enhancement is required. Yet, clinical failures have been reported due to the detachment of the veneers from the dental hard tissues, as well as to chipping and microleakage. Many experimental studies have been conducted in order to identify clinical and technical solutions for enhancing the adhesive and biomechanical properties of the veneers, by promoting the same classical, linear marginal contour of these particular indirect restorations. thus, the aim of this study is to develop a novel design of the veneers deemed to augment the interfacial adhesive forces and, furthermore, to investigate the bonded interfaces by using optical coherence tomography.

In 2005, global cardiovascular diseases caused 30% of deaths in Europe, which is 46% of total deaths for all death groups. Today, according to the international Adult Diabetes Federation, 20% to 25% of the adult population in the world has Metabolic Syndrome. Turkish Statistical Institute claims that in Turkey 408782 people died of circulatory system diseases in 2016 and it is expected that numbers will dramatically increase. In 2003, total worldwide healthcare budget of Diabetes Mellitus was up to 64.9 billion international Dollars with the continuing rise in prevalence, it is expected that total costs will increase to 396 billion international Dollars by 2025. the main purpose of this study was to present a clinical decision support system that calculates Metabolic Syndrome existence and evaluate HeartScore risk level for Turkish population. the second objective was to create a detailed personal report about individual's risk level of Metabolic Syndrome and HeartScore and give advice to him/her to reduce it. the fuzzy logic risk assessment system (FLRAS) was formed in LabVIEW graphical development platform according to international Diabetes Federation and European Heart Journal's criteria. Mamdani type fuzzy logic sets were identified for each input variable and membership functions were assigned depending on the magnitude of the input limits. System's performance was tested on 96 (72 females, 24 males) patient data. Results show that the proposed system was able to evaluate the Metabolic Syndrome risk with 0.9285 specificity, 0.92708 accuracy and 0.925 sensitivity.

this paper presents an interval-parameter stochastic programming (ISP) approach for supporting ecological restoration of degraded mud flat ecosystem under mud flat ecological restoration cost uncertainties. ISP is capable of performing mud flat ecological system analysis, ecological restoration cost uncertainty analysis, and solution block screening in a comprehensive and systematic way. A mud flat ecological restoration problem is used to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed ISP approach. the results indicate that solution block can be generated for the objective function and decision variables, and a variety of decision alternatives of solution block can be obtained under different cost uncertainty scenarios.

this paper presents a Visual programming Environment that uses the Cyber-Film approach in programming some computational tasks. the film for the multistage network algorithm was developed as one of the films together with its template code in assembly language format. the generated executable code was run, and it was verified to run perfectly. the results show that Cyber-Film is a very promising approach in solving computational problems.

the uncertainty and variability as a consequence of modern utilization of wind power in the electrical system besides unpredicted contingencies of the system components can impose crucial challenges on the Independent System Operator's (ISO) performance. In such a situation, increasing operational flexibility is the main way to cover wind power unpredictability and to enable secure operation of the power system. To this end, this paper proposes a flexible security-constrained program to schedule supply-side and demand-side via an optimal pricing and incentive scheme. the considered demand response (DR) programs include time of use (TOU), real-time pricing (RTP), critical peak pricing (CPP), as well as emergency demand response program (EDRP). the study aims to find the most effective DR scheme among a set of DR programs to improve the efficiency of electricity markets while guaranteeing the security and environmental restrictions through minimization of two objective functions, the ISO's operational cost and pollutant emissions from generation units.
