Dynamic distribution system reconfiguration (DDSR) is the process of dynamically changing the network's topology during the operational periods of the system. this process together withthe integration of distributed renewable energy sources (DRES) and other enabling technologies allow a more efficient operation of such systems in technical and economic terms, facilitating a seamless integration of DRES in larger quantities. When performing such an optimization process, the stochastic nature of DRES (both variability and uncertainty) needs to be taken into consideration. In this paper, an improved dynamic system reconfiguration model is presented where the goal is to minimize the total cost in the system while satisfying various technical constraints so as to maintain the reliability and stability of the system at required levels. the computational tool is tested in a real system encompassing the distribution system of Lagoa (in Sao Miguel Island, Azores), and its effectiveness is properly validated. the numerical results demonstrate great benefits in economic terms, such as reduced losses and improved system reliability.

this paper presents modelling of a fruit fly's visual neural system for motion recognition employing non-spiking Hodgkin-Huxley neurons. Motion detection operates based on the Hassenstein-Reichardt correlator principle. An array of motion detectors reveals the velocity field pattern, and an additional summation layer allows calculation of the vanishing point. the synthetic nervous system is successfully designed using the functional subnetwork approach. this allows the model to be scaled up to several hundred motion detectors according to the number of ommatidia. the output provides the abstraction of motion on a couple of exit neurons, which can be used in further implementation of control for the mobile robot. the simulation of operation on artificially generated input signals for different types of motion, and a summary of neuronal activities are given.

In this paper, we analyze learning activity of students and its effect when we utilize the programming education support tool pgtracer to provide homework for their programming course. We assigned homework utilizing pgtracer to the students and incorporated its learning achievement to their evaluation of the course. As a result, this method improved the learning activity of the students. their understanding of the trace table was related to understanding of the programming. their answering processes to reach to a correct answer varied according to their programming skill. As for their understanding of the program, those who did their homework continuously understood a program well compared to those who only prepared for the exam in a short term. therefore, we can conclude that providing homework utilizing pgtracer is effective for students' centered learning of programming.

In the optimum coordination of Directional Overcurrent Relays (DOCRs), operational time of relays is minimized with maintaining coordination criteria between Primary and Backup (P/B) relay pairs. In the literature, a range of Objective Functions (OFs) including constraints with various weightings are developed to obtain the optimum coordination of relays. In this paper, the performance of different OFs is evaluated on IEEE 30-bus system using Sequential quadratic programming (SQP). the comparative analysis is executed to find the best OF for the coordination problem of DOCRs.
