In dynamic flex-grid optical transport networks, Lightpath Admission Control (LAC) is the task of finding a Routing and Spectrum Assignment (RSA) solution for a current lightpath request;otherwise, the request is blocked if there are not enough free available resources. When rerouting is supported, one or more currently established lightpaths can be rerouted and/or assigned with a different spectrum in order to accommodate the current lightpath request. We propose LAC methods based on mixed integer linear programmingthat provide aRSAsolution for the current request aiming to maximize the acceptance probability of future lightpath requests. When rerouting is supported, we consider that only one currently established lightpath can be rerouted. We compare the proposed methods withthe traditional shortest path-based approach through simulation. Without lightpath rerouting, the blocking probability is significantly improved. With lightpath rerouting, the number of rerouting operations is significantly decreased while the blocking probability is marginally improved. Moreover, the blocking fairness between lightpaths with different spectrum widths is improved both with and without lightpath rerouting. In all cases, the CPU times of the mixed integer linear programming approaches are a few seconds, on average. (C) 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

this paper investigates the effectiveness of using different decision-making frameworks in local energy systems (LES) through the assessment of the long-term equilibrium of energy players. For this purpose, the energy system is modelled through two levels of multi-energy player (MEP) and LES, coupled by energy price signals. the conflict between the decision-making of these two levels of players is modelled through a bi-level approach. A mathematical problem with equilibrium constraint is formulated by applying the duality theory, resorting to a linear representation of the constraints. the solution is found by using the CPLEX12 solver. the numerical results show the characteristics of the MEP behaviour in different energy aggregation modes for the LES, with centralised management or uniform pricing. the MEP may find benefits from possible synergies among the LES due to availability of energy carriers with complementary characteristics.

As the increasingly large amount of traffic are carried out by WDM networks and the era of information society has been clearly shaped, any network failure would cause massive impact. Operators have been therefore paying growing attention to resilience issues and indeed, guaranteeing survivability has become integral part of network design process. Among protection schemes, dedicated one stands out in terms of efficient recovery speed, ease of operation and thus, being widely deployed in practice. the significant progress in Dexible optics are inspiring new opportunities in dimensioning optical network with dedicated protection. In this context, the paper investigates the use of multi-line rate (MLR) transponder having two bit-rate options by switching the modulation format for dedicated protection purpose. A novel adaptive operation of MLR is proposed based on the protection-aware configuration. the protectionaware scheme exploits MLR transponders at lower bit-rate for working mode and adaptively tunes them to higher rate to handle temporary protection traffic in case of failure. We formulate the routing and Dow aUocation in opaque WDM network design with dedicated protection as mixed integer linear programming and propose two transponder allocation algorithms based on protection-aware operation. the benefits of our new protection proposals compared to traditional approach are quantified over extensive simulations on diverse network topologies and random traffic matrices. Encouraging results are observed with a saving of more than 30% number of transponder and promising cost and power consumption gain could be achieved in a wide range of MLR cost and power consumption assumption.

We briefly describe every task of each activity. these eight activities are iteratively confirmed sequence which we recommend to use for familiarization withthe elements of the kit and also software. Set of activities and recommendations to them is the result of several iterative verifications and editing, based on observations of teaching according to our materials during informatics lessons. these activities follow the requirements of our national education program and develop several 21st century skills for successful life.

In this article, we consider the Node-Weighted Dominating Steiner Problem. Given a graph with node weights and a set of terminal nodes, the goal is to find a connected node-induced subgraph of minimum weight, such that each terminal node is contained in or adjacent to some node in the chosen subgraph. the problem arises in applications in the design of telecommunication networks. Integer programming formulations for Steiner problems usually employ a variable for each edge. We introduce a formulation that only uses node variables and that models connectivity through node-cut inequalities, which can be separated in polynomial time. We discuss necessary and sufficient conditions for the model inequalities to define facets and we introduce a class of lifted partition-based inequalities, which can be used to strengthen the linear relaxation. Finally, we show that the polyhedron defined by these inequalities is integral if the underlying graph is a cycle where no two terminals are adjacent. In the general cycle setting, we show that we can get a complete description of the feasible solutions by lifting and projecting into a polytope with no more than twice the dimension. We also show that the well-known indegree equalities are implied by the lifted partition inequalities. Finally, we evaluate the effectiveness of the presented partition inequalities in computational experiments. (C) 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
