In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in modeling natural human movements. the main question to be addressed is: what is the optimality criteria that human has optimized to achieve a certain movement. One of the most significant current discussions is the modeling of the reach-to-grasp movements that human naturally perform while approaching a certain object for grasping. Recent advances in Inverse Reinforcement Learning (IRL) approaches have facilitated investigation of reach-to-grasp movements in terms of the optimal control theory. IRL aims to learn the cost function that best describes the demonstrated human reach-to-grasp movements. thus far, gradient-based techniques have been used to obtain the parameters of the underlying cost function. Such approaches, however, have failed to find the global optimal parameters since they are limited by locating only local optimum values. In this research, learning of the cost function for the reach-to-grasp movements is addressed as an Inverse Linear Quadratic Regulator (ILQR) problem, where linear dynamic equations and a quadratic cost are assumed. An efficient evolutionary optimization technique, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), is used to obtain the unknown cost for the reach-to-grasp movements under consideration. Moreover, an incremental-ILQR Algorithm is proposed to adjust the learned cost once new untrained demonstrations exist to overcome the over-fitting issue. the obtained results are encouraging and show harmony with those in neuroscience literature.

In this paper, we propose a linear programming based interactive method for multiobjective linear programming problems, in which fuzzy coefficients and random variable coefficients are involved in the objective functions simultaneously. In the proposed method, it is assumed that the decision maker has a fuzzy goal for each objective function, and such a fuzzy goal can be quantified by eliciting the membership function. through the possibility measure and a fractile optimization model, the original problem is transformed to the well-defined multiobjective programming problem. then, a generalized Pareto optimal concept is defined, and a linear programming based interactive algorithm is proposed to obtain a satisfactory solution from among a generalized Pareto optimal solution set.

In this paper, we propose an integer linear programming (ILP) model for static elevator operation problems. the proposed model is based on hall- and car-calls which correspond to pickup and delivery requests in pickup-and-delivery problems (PDPs), thus is similar to ILP models for PDPs. the primary difference between those models and the proposed model is the prevention of the reverse run, which means that an elevator with a passenger is moved to the direction opposite to that of the passenger. In computer illustrations, the proposed model is roughly investigated by being compared with a trip-based ILP model which has been proposed by the authors.

In this paper, we propose a new approach for determining the unknown quantities in Banker-Charnes-Cooper models for data envelopment analysis by developing the marginal model synthesization algorithm. In this algorithm, several marginal fractional programming models are first constructed based on a simple numeric optimization. then, a set of synthetic Banker-Charnes-Cooper models is obtained by compounding the marginal fractional programming models. the marginal model synthesization algorithm is straightforward and computationally efficient. We also present an application of the proposed approach for analyzing the efficiency of industries in Japanese prefectures.

the authors study on the hand gesture discernment based on the surface electromyogram of forearm. In order to discern finger shapes of the rock-paper-scissors, genetic programming technique is applied to establish the optimum classification algorithm of hand gestures by composing of arithmetic functions. We measur myoelectric potential signals of forearm related to rock-paper-scissors, and applies them to genetic evolution of hand gesture classification. We also evaluated the effects of the target number of nodes, crossover rate, mutation rate of GP parameters. Realtime hand gesture identification experiments are carried out and the typical hand gestures are actually distinguished in accuracy of 99%.

the best ecological and environmental benefits can be obtained with limited economic inputs by system optimization of typical ecological problems. In this paper, two typical ecological problems including resource allocation problem and pesticide management problem were analyzed, the mathematical models which based on dynamic programming and nonlinear programming were built and then were solved by LINGO 8.0 software. the results showed that LINGO software can solve the ecological optimization problems effectively, and the optimization results can be applied in the practical cases with favorable economic and environmental effects. this study can provide a reference for relevant decision-making departments when optimizing similar ecological problems.

this paper presents the methodology for the cost optimization of real-time applications, that are conformable to the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model of cloud computing. We assume, that functions of applications are specified as a set of distributed echo algorithms with soft real-time constraints. then our methodology schedules all tasks on available cloud infrastructure, minimizing the total costs of the IaaS services, while guaranteeing the required level of the quality of services, as far as real-time requirements are concerned. It takes into account limited bandwidth of communication channels as well as the limited computation power of server nodes. the cost is optimized using the method based on the developmental genetic programming. the method reduces the cost of hiring the cloud infrastructure by sharing cloud resources between applications. We also present experimental results, that show the benefits of using our methodology.

In the present work, a global optimization method known as the Generalized Geometric programming (GGP) is used. the technique of convexification used in the present work is different from others presented in earlier works. the presented GGP allows to obtain the global optimum by few transformation applied to the original optimization problem. But for the other convexification technique many constraints will be taken into account to get the convex criterion. the GGP method allows to compute the optimal control sequence over a prediction horizon. the obtained sequence of input control is the solution of a min-max optimization problem. Hammerstein and Wiener models are presented where bounded uncertainties are considered with respect to parameters of the linear bloc. the efficiency of the GGP method is demonstrated through a simulation example.

the main purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of scaffolding and self-efficacy on students' programming learning performance in robotics learning environment. there were 89 junior high school students participated in the study. the results indicated that there is significant interaction between scaffolding mechanism and learning motivation on students' learning performance. the introduction of design journal did not have a significant effect on the learning performance of students with high self-efficacy;however, design journal had pronounced benefits for students with moderate self-efficacy. According to the findings, we proposed some directions for future studies.

there are strong demands to utilize multi-core computing resources effectively for large-scale and highly detailed multi-agent simulations. We have proposed a framework to assist parameter tuning process of multi-core programming for simulation developers to utilize many parallel cores in their simulation programs efficiently. However, due to its massive computation costs, it is not easy task to seek the sufficient compilation and execution parameters and analyze their performance characteristics for various execution settings. In this paper, we present a preliminary analysis of parameter optimization based on BLMAB by utilizing our framework. We show how our BLMAB-based approach can effectively be used on the parameter optimization process.
