A novel optimization algorithm by combining the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm and the sequential quadratic programming (SQP), that is the gradient based ABC algorithm, is presented to resolve the problems of global optimization and inter-area oscillations damping in power system. the proposed algorithm merges the global exploration ability of the artificial bee colony to converge quickly to a near optimum resolution, and the correct local exploitation capacity of the sequential quadratic programming to accelerate the search process and discover a correct solution. To show the feasibility and efficiency of the new method, numerical result is investigated on the New England system by tuning a power system stabilizer and a controller for the static VAR compensator. the proposed gradient based ABC algorithm is compared with ABC. the simulations studies demonstrate that the proposed algorithm based designed damping controllers perform better than controller designed by ABC.

Ant colony optimization is a successful swarm intelligence method for solving various combinatorial optimization problems. It uses a population-based meta-heuristic that is based on the foraging behavior of real ant colonies, and these ants use pheromones to communicate indirectly with others. While the scale of problem increases, ACO necessitates much more time and resource to solve the optimization problem. Two main solutions to this bottleneck can be used: distributed implementations and parallel implementations. the rapid development of computer architecture enables the easily reachable parallel implementation platforms by multi-core processors. In this paper, it is aimed to present the performance increase of two main ACO algorithms on multi-core processors with parallel programming. Parallelization is done on a single ant colony by using Java thread programming approach with minimal communication and coordination between threads. the paper also draws future works that can be done on this topic.

In this paper, we are concerned with optimized linear precoding strategies for multiple-input multiple-output interference channels (MIMO-IFC). Under practical transmission power constraints, we aim at maximizing the sum-information-rate. To date, most developments could not directly address this problem. Instead, intermediate problems of simplification have been considered by means of alternating optimization, which fails to jointly optimize all the concerned variables. In this paper, we directly solve this problem by exploring its hidden d.c. (difference of convex functions) structure. the recast problem can be iteratively solved by d.c. iterations (DCIs), which guarantees the convergence to at least a local optimum. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed solutions offer improved performance.

A functional pant made of the fabrics with infrared(IR) radiation properties was successful developed as a potential application for infrared *** aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the fabrics with infrared radiation properties on physiological and psychological responses during and after a short-duration *** female subjects were tested in random order,wearing two types of pant with or without IR *** body mass was measured before the experiment and after the *** temperature,skin temperature at six sites,heart rate,and the ratings of thermal,clothing wetness and comfort sensation were measured during and after the *** results arising from the core temperature showed not significantly higher in IR function pant than that in Non-IR function(P>0.05),but the body mean skin temperature drawn a significant higher body mean skin temperature in IR functional pant than in Non-IR functional pant(P<0.05).However,subjective sensations during this short-duration exercise were similar for both *** conclusion,following a short duration exercise,the infrared radiation properties of fabrics could increase the heat ability of body skim temperature and keep the thermal comfort for human body.

this paper introduces a two-stage strategy for multi-class classification problems. the proposed technique is an advancement of tradition binary decomposition method. In the first stage, the classifiers are trained for each class versus the remaining classes. A modified fitness value is used to select good discriminators for the imbalanced data. In the second stage, the classifiers are integrated and treated as a single chromosome that can classify any of the classes from the dataset. A population of such classifier-chromosomes is created from good classifiers (for individual classes) of the first phase. this population is evolved further, with a fitness that combines accuracy and conflicts. the proposed method encourages the classifier combination with good discrimination among all classes and less conflicts. the two-stage learning has been tested on several benchmark datasets and results are found encouraging. In the deregulated power market the generator firms compete with each other to reach the maximum profit. And in this type of power market the investors encounter several uncertain parameters. Demand uncertainty is one of the main parameters can reduce the risk of investing when the planners consider in their planning. Stochastic programming has been represented in this article to solve the investment problem. this article proposed a model by considering the demand uncertainties. And also, other parameters including the financial restriction, forced outage rate (FOR), penalty for unserved demand has been considered. the variable decisions in this model include the total benefit of investor, expansion capacity at the beginning of each period, operation level for each generator. Sensitivity analysis for FOR and the penalty for unserved demand on the expansion planning confirm this model. Finally, the proposed framework has been implemented on the case study to approve this model.
