the research performed by the authors had the purpose of developing a control and programming application for a 3-axes SCARA robot designed for wafer manipulation and integrating it with a mobile device capable of wireless communication. the mobile device was then used to command axis movements, internal signals and for programming. the application was developed as a user-interface capable of communicating with robot's controller and converting the user inputs into controller commands. In order to achieve position control, the direct kinematic model of the robot was developed. Furthermore, the application was integrated with the V-REP virtual simulation platform in order to achieve simulation and offline programming capabilities - the V-REP software provided the 3-D environment and the kinematics modelling functions required to perform the simulation while receiving commands from the developed application. Finally, a few demonstrative applications were configured in order to test the functionality of the system. the research has important implications in the field of industrial wireless communication, being a step towards more flexible robotic applications, full integration of remote operation technologies and easier access to remote production facilities.

this study can be applied to all different kinds of business as we all know that the business goal is to produce products that can yield sales and profit, and in order to stay in business, it needs to have a higher revenue than the business' expenses. the sales of the business have a connection between the customer's decision to support and buy the product. Advertisements can help in bringing the sales up since families are required to stay more at home, and so they are able to surf through social media, watch the TV, read Print materials more than before. the study focuses on the optimization of a product mix problem with regards to the budget restriction and maximizing the number of people who viewed the advertisement. the researcher aimed to maximize the profit of the Jollibee Food corporations by getting the maximum number of people exposed to advertisement using excel solver. the result shows the allocated budget per types of media to yield more people exposed to the advertisement. the budget, target exposure, and the mix of media are the constraints of this study.

Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) are the two core technologies in 5G, therefore the service function chain allocation (SFC-A) in MEC plays an important role in enhancing the quality of experience (QoE) of the end users. Different from the SFC-A in cloud computing, SFC-A in MEC is more challenging due to the limited computing resources at edge servers. In this paper, we investigated the SFC-A problem in MEC with limited resources, and formulate the problem as an integer linear program problem with the objective of minimizing both the transmission latency and processing latency. Furthermore, to overcome the inherent shortcomings of heuristic solutions, we propose an algorithm, ScaRL, which leverages reinforcement learning to make the optimal decision by taking advantage of its trial-and-error mechanism, reward mechanism and exploration-exploitation ability. A series of simulations verified that ScaRL is effective in reducing the average latency of SFC requests, as well as reducing the blocking rate to provide QoE guarantee.

In colleges and universities, bidirectional selection of students and supervisors is very common to determine the supervisor student pairs. However, the most bidirectional selection methods only focus on the maximization of the number of matching pairs, while not considering the specific satisfaction and fairness of each person. To deal with such issue, in this paper, we introduce two novel metrics of satisfaction and fairness for each person, and then formulate the bidirectional selection problem to an integer linear programming problem with the predefined relative fairness. Due to the NP-hardness of the problem, we propose three heuristic algorithms, respectively named by the Satisfaction-based Greedy (SG) algorithm, the Weight-based Greedy (WG) algorithm and the Satisfaction-based Dynamic programming (SDP) algorithm. We evaluate the performance of the three algorithms in terms of total satisfaction, average satisfaction and matching ratio. the experimental results show that the SDP can achieve the maximized satisfaction and a higher matching ratio. the problem studied in this paper was to schedule jobs in a single machine production system with an overtime constraint. A new mathematical model is now proposed to minimize the total penalty cost, which is described as tardiness, overtime, earliness, and the idle time costs. the proposed math model is capable of improving some impractical overtime concepts, as reported in the literature. the proposed model was evaluated by using a set of hypothetical data that was generated from a new instance generator for scheduling problems named IGSP. Since the proposed math model is classified as NP-hard, the optimal solutions can be determined only for the problem of `up-to-20-jobs' within 120 minutes. Hence, for a large-scale problem, a satisfactory metaheuristic is required, in order to determine a near-optimal solution, within a short computational time.

In this paper, the image restoration is formulated as an l 2 -norm noise constrained estimation problem. Realizing that the constrained optimization problem is a separable nonlinear least squares problem, we eliminate a part of the parameters from the objective function using the idea of variable projection algorithms. then, the gradient projection method is used to optimize the reduced parameter space problem. the numerical experiments on image restoration illustrate that the proposed methodology accelerates the convergence rate significantly.

the embedded storage system is the principal part in the electric vehicle. the vehicle's autonomy and price influence depend on the chosen source technology. For that, we must optimize the sizing and the ageing of the storage system using heavy-duty models. these last ones must take into account the battery behavior and the system cost. the development of an accurate multi-physical lithium battery model can be an extremely time-consuming process because of the complexity of the battery electrochemical phenomena that could occur during an automotive application. In this paper, we will start by introducing the proposed dynamic battery model, and submit the possibility of building an accurate dynamic design while highlighting the key objective of our study, which is the optimization algorithms performances comparison in terms of precision and computing time.

Electrical power systems are transforming from the traditional centralized bulk systems, to more decentralized systems, with distributed generation installed close to demand consumption. Since several alternative energy technologies have become commercially available, distributed generators are often of a renewable nature. this paper proposes a two-stage approach to determine optimal alternative electricity generation mix. An optimal composition and capacities of generation units of different types are determined by means of the simplex method. Alongside with that, the problems of power losses minimization and voltage stability of distribution networks are also addressed. A backward-forward sweep method is applied for optimal sizing and placement of distributed energy resources. the IEEE 33-bus test system is employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
