Ukraine Power Sector is facing the dramatic challenge - a necessity to essentially change its generating capacity structure caused by such main factors: the rapid implementation of intermittent renewables, mainly wind and solar; a high share of obsolete coal-fired thermal power plants, which are not suitable to provide flexibility to the power system; seasonally dependent and very limited water resources for hydro power stations which could provide constrained flexibility and also a high share of baseload nuclear in a generation mix. Another challenge is a high share of a total country's greenhouse gas emissions (about 68% of total Ukraine's GHG emissions) and a huge volume of hazardous air pollutions produced by thermal plants. these factors require a total redesign of current generating capacities to increase system flexibility to meet high renewables implementation volumes while decreasing GHG emissions and hazard pollutions. the easiest option is to implement flexible natural gas generation instead of inflexible coal-fired and nuclear generation, but due to a historically difficult situation with a natural gas supply, this option could potentially cause a negative influence on the country's energy security. We also should take into account an essential amount of investments required to implement a new generation and because of all these factors, the safest way could be keeping baseload nuclear generation, gradually decommissioning coal-fired generation and implementing technologies which are improving flexibility of the Power System, such as electric energy storages. To assess the amount of required installed capacity of electric energy storage in the Ukrainian Power System according to the scenarios of wind and solar implementation the mixed-integer linear programming mathematical model is proposed. the results of simulations show that there are options to keep the current level installed capacity of baseload nuclear generation with essentially high amounts of

the separation of concerns as a conceptual paradigm, aims to manage the complexity of the software systems by dividing them into different concerns and aspects. the benefits of this paradigm such as adaptability, reuse and maintenance, have been key drivers of its adoption and usability. these quality attributes have been discussed in aspect-oriented programming (AOP) which is a complement to traditional programming methods, whether object-oriented programming or procedural programming. the main concept of AOP is to gather the treatments related to a specific concern (problem) in a centralized unit called aspect. In this paper, two case studies of AOP are conducted with AspectJ: i) through three different implementations, addressing three distinct issues: Logging, Adding features and Using the Observer design pattern, and ii) through the design of aspect mobile application that is easy to use and quickly accessible and especially through Android devices. Also, the different technologies of AspectJ are used to design our application and illustrate the modularity and the composition of components (database manager, development software, and plugins). For each case study, we present the advantages and disadvantages to better understand and decompose the applications using this programming paradigm. Potential implementation examples are provided to support the explanation of the different situations and justify the use of the AOP to solve these issues. OSGi framework can also be used in the future work to offer dynamic manner of mobile applications.

the paper is included in the strategy to use API facilities of CAD/CAE commercial applications and dedicated programming languages, such as GNU Octave, in order to create a set of instruments useful for the rapid development of the hybrid models. In this way, an exploratory investigation is presented regarding the most appropriate methods to use GNU Octave scientific programming facilities in C++ applications. Four software demonstrators are included in the paper, which may be used as an inspirational environment. Each program presents relevant aspects regarding the C++ API. the first demonstrator presents two methods to start the Octave interpreter, depending on its current version, and the use of the 'feval()' function for 'gcd()', 'acos()' and 'inv()'. the type of the input and output values of 'feval()' are 'octave-value-list', being necessary appropriate conversion functions. the second program is dedicated to the built-in-functions, being presented three case studies. the third demonstrator presents the conversion of the values from a user defined C++ type to the Octave types, i.e. the conversion of a two dimensional array into a 'Matrix' Octave type,which is tested using the 'norm()' *** fourth program uses 'source-file(OCT-script-file)', which executes the commands in the OCT-script-file\the content of this file is written from a string and it is either a set of Octave commands, or the name of another Octave script file which is executed. We have solutions to minimise the access time spent due to the frequently write operation on the disk. We plan to continue our tests in order to find the best methods to use the GNU plotting facilities to develop graphical interpreters. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

the challenges that face the handwritten Arabic recognition are overwhelming such as different varieties of handwriting and few public databases available. Also, teaching the non-Arabic speaker at the young age is very difficult due to the unfamiliarity of the words and meanings. So, this project is focused on building a model of a deep learning architecture with convolutional neural network (CNN) and multilayer perceptron (MLP) neural network by using python programming language. this project analyzes the performance of a public database which is Arabic Handwritten Characters Dataset (AHCD). However, training this database with CNN model has achieved a test accuracy of 95.27% while training it with MLP model achieved 72.08%. therefore, the CNN model is suitable to be used in the application device.

this paper presents an optimal Energy Management Strategy (EMS) to optimize Grid / PV / EV hybrid system in Smart Building with a Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) concept and so bidirectional capability of the vehicle. the aims of the multiobjective optimization are to maximize the selfconsumption of the solar production and to optimal charging the vehicle together. Linear programming method is used to solve the optimization problem. the use cases results show the great economic profitability potential of the studied system.

Modeling time series is a well investigated area for a long period. During last years fuzzy cognitive maps have been successfully employed for this purpose. Easy interpretation of relations and dependencies in an information space raised by time series is an important aspect of latest researches, which brought time series processing from an elementary, numerical, level to a space of concepts created by a given time series. In this paper we investigate time series modeling with fuzzy cognitive maps at a concept level. Discussion is focused on constructions of fuzzy cognitive maps for a given time series which is transformed to a level of concepts. Attention is payed on objective functions, which are employed to training and quality evaluating of fuzzy cognitive maps. Several types of objective functions are proposed, discussed and tested. Objective functions studied in this paper are based on mean square error and maximal square error.

the whale algorithm is a kind of artificial intelligence optimization algorithm. this paper adds nonlinear convergence factor and adaptive inertia weight to the traditional whale algorithm, introduces the concept of quantum revolving door in whale position update, and uses nonlinear convergence factor to whale. the variable variation of the algorithm is modified to adjust the balance between global search and local search, and solves the problem of slow convergence in traditional whale algorithm. the concept of adaptive inertia weight in particle swarm optimization is applied. In the improvement of the local optimization ability of the whale algorithm, the concept of quantum revolving door is introduced in every position update of the whale algorithm, which makes the overall performance of the whole algorithm and the optimal solution have significant performance improvement. the superiority of the improved algorithm is verified by simulation experiments.

As the modern society utilizes various devices based on the Information, Communication Technology (ICT), the importance of the computer program has been increased. As the needs of the education of engineering increases, many researchers studied the pedagogy of the engineering education and the learning contents development. In general, the education of the programming language accompanies with the syntax learning and logic developments. the block-based programming language helps to build the logic of the students. therefore, Block-based programming languages are used in the entry course to the engineering departments. However, the block-based learning languages are limited to develop conventional applications. the application of the block-based programming language requires the particular middleware to execute, and usually, the application cannot utilize the functionalities of the hardware. therefore, students should learn the high-level programming language regardless of the block-based programming language to develop the ICT services. Unlike other pedagogy, this paper introduces the education contents and programming environment with high-level programming. Notably, this paper proposes the hybrid approaches to help students to build their programming logic and programming syntax.

In this paper, a new Energy Management (EM) strategy is proposed which uses a two-stage rolling horizon (RH) technique to control a battery energy storage system (BESS). the objectives of the control arc to increase the self consumption of the renewable energy resources (RES) and minimize the daily cost of the energy drawn from the main electrical grid. Mixed integer linear programming (MILP) optimization is used as a part of the RH technique to obtain the optimal control settings for the BESS. Using the RH technique and processing the control signals with two different time periods gives more optimal BESS settings which can overcome the errors associated with load prediction and operational constraints. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed strategy can benefit MG customers and satisfy different market conditions.
