Very large data volumes and high computation costs in data mining applications justify the use for them of grid-level massive parallelism. the paper concerns grid-oriented implementation of the DisDaMin (distributed Data Mining) project, which proposes distributed knowledge discovery through parallelization of data mining tasks. DisDaMin solves data mining problems by using new distributed algorithms based on special clusterized data decomposition and asynchronous task processing, which match the grid computing features. the DisDaMin algorithms are embedded inside the DG-ADAJ (Desktop-grid Adaptative Application in Java) system, which is a middleware platform for Desktop grid. It provides adaptive control of distributed applications written in Java for grid or Desktop grid. It allows an optimized distribution of applications on clusters of Java Virtual Machines, monitoring of application execution and dynamic on-line balancing of processing and communication. Simulations were performed to prove the efficiency of the proposed mechanisms. they were carried on using the French national project grid'5000(1) (part of the Coregrid project) and the DG-ADAJ.

Mobile grids (MoGs) are an emerging sphere in distributed computing and are expected to become a crucial part of computational grids in future. Apart from allowing a convenient user access to the grid, mobile hosts can act as valuable computing resources in the grid. However, mobile hosts have limitations of resources such as stable storage, wireless bandwidth, battery power etc. and are also subject to mobility and frequent disconnections. therefore, a fault tolerance scheme is essential if the computing power of mobile hosts has to be used effectively in the grids. this paper presents a checkpointing based fault tolerance technique for Mobile grid computing systems. A Fuzzy Rule based system (FRS) is used to construct an efficient checkpointing arrangement for MoGs. With FRS, superior nodes, i.e., having sufficient resources, are selected as Checkpoint Storage Nodes (CSNs) and other mobile hosts transfer their checkpointed data to one of the selected neighboring CSN. the objective of FRS is to increase the probability of recovery of checkpointed data subsequent to a failure;thereby allowing a distributed application to complete its execution successfully on the MoG. Simulations show FRS's better recovery probabilities in comparison to a random checkpointing arrangement.

this paper presents a framework for Web Service based workflow optimisation in grid environment. In this framework, parallel service is introduced as adaptor and container of parallel block of workflow. In parallel service, workflow is divided into multi sub-workflows, which are dispatched and executed in parallel at different workflow engines in different grid nodes. By this strategy, the performance of workflow can be enhanced greatly. In this paper, we also give a strategy how to guarantee the correctness in complicated network environment by redundant computing.

With the increasing demands of data computation and storage for cloud-based services, the energy demand of data centers (DCs) is rising rapidly and becoming a noticeable challenge for current power networks. the smart grid (SG) is deemed as the future power system paradigm enabling more affordable and sustainable energy supply, which can effectively relieve the power load pressure of DCs. Moreover, with growing concerns regarding harmful emissions due to combustion of fossil fuels, the exploitation of renewable energy sources (RES) has attracted extensive attention, benefiting both SGs and DCs at large. However, the geo-distributed property of DCs and SGs, as well as the uncertain nature of RES production pose severe challenges to the optimal management of computation and energy resources in such coupling system. Focusing on these issues, a joint energy and computation workload management framework is proposed for enabling a sustainable DC paradigm with distributed RES. Specifically, to model the interactions between data center operator (DCO) and SGs, a Stackelberg game is formulated. the SG offers the DCO an electricity selling price to maximize the benefit. the DCO allocates the computation workload to geo-distributed DCs, aiming to minimize the costs of energy consumption and carbon emissions. We obtain the equilibrium state of the game and prove its uniqueness and optimality. Simulation experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, showing that it can achieve considerable cost savings over counterparts. the proposed approach and obtained results provide useful insights for helping the DCO developing rational management strategies. © 2021 IEEE.

Dynamic replication algorithms for the multi-tier Data grid

Data replication is a common method used to improve the performance of data access in distributed systems. In this paper, two dynamic replication algorithms, Simple Bottom-Up (SBU) and Aggregate Bottom-Up (ABU), are proposed for the multitier Data grid. A multi-tier Data grid simulator called DRepSim is developed for studying the performances of the dynamic replication algorithms. the simulation results show that both algorithms can reduce the average response time of data access greatly compared to the static replication method. ABU can achieve great performance improvements for all access patterns even if the available storage size of the replication server is very small. Comparing the two algorithms to Fast Spread dynamic replication strategy, ABU proves to be superior. As for SBU, although the average response time of Fast Spread is better in most cases, Fast Spread's replication frequency is too high to be applicable in the real world. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. With the advent of the grid, task scheduling in heterogeneous environments becomes more and more important. Of particular interest is the fact that especially in scientific experiments a non negligible amount of data must be transferred to the processing node before a task can commence execution. Given bandwidth constraints, scheduling both computations and data transfers is required. In this paper we first develop a suitable model that captures heterogeneity in the processing nodes while imposing communication constraints. We proceed by proposing scheduling heuristics with the aim of minimizing the total makespan of a set of independent tasks. through a series of experiments we illustrate the potential of a particular heuristic that is based on backfilling.

grids can be considered as dominant platforms for large-scale parallel/distributed computing in science and engineering. Clouds allow users to acquire and release resources on-demand. Next generation computing environments will benefit from the combination of grid and Cloud paradigms providing frameworks that integrate traditional grid services with on-demand Cloud services. Nowadays, workflows are the preferred means for the combination of services into added value service chains representing functional business processes or complex scientific experiments. A promising way to manage effectively services composition in a dynamic and heterogenous environment is to make the workflow management framework able to self-adapt at runtime to changes in its environment and provide an uniform resource access mechanism over grid and Cloud infrastructures. Autonomic workflow management systems can support the runtime modification of workflows with the aim of improving their performance and recover from faults determining and provisioning the appropriate mix of grid/Cloud services with requested QoS. this paper describes Sunflower an innovative P2P agent-based framework for configuring, enacting, managing and adapting workflows on hybrid grid-Cloud infrastructures. To orchestrate grid and Cloud services, Sunflower uses a bio-inspired autonomic choreography model and integrates the scheduling algorithm with a provisioning component that can dynamically launch virtual machines in a Cloud infrastructure to provide on-demand services in peak-load situations. © 2011 IFIP.

A grid computing environment is a parallel and distributed system that brings together various computing capacities to solve large computation problems. Task scheduling is a critical issue for grid computing, which maps tasks onto a parallel and distributed system for achieving good performance in terms of minimizing the overall execution time. this paper presents a genetic algorithm to solve this problem for improving the existing genetic algorithm with two main ideas: a new initialization strategy is introduced to generate the first population of chromosomes and the good characteristics of found solutions are preserved for new generations. Our proposed algorithm is implemented and evaluated using a set of well-known applications in our specific-defined system environment. the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other algorithms within several parameter settings. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2014.

Estimating the information source is an essential indicator in large-scale complex social networks. Previous researchers have mainly concentrated on network or graph structures with relationship strengths among vertex. However, relationship strengths are randomly distributed in network. We propose a four layers novel conventional neural network that train and investigate the source of each information in network. We also develop a method to evaluate the credibility of founded information source into positive or negative vertexes based on their training results. To evaluate our model, we utilize two large data set gemsec-deezer and emergent from real life. Experimentally training results demonstrate 80%-85% accuracy of determining message source nodes with reasonable computation costs. Finally, we show our positive and negative information sources performance in terms of the accuracy after testing step. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a new SQL based incremental distributed algorithm for predicting the next location of a mobile user in a mobile web environments. parallel and distributed data mining algorithm is applied on moving logs stored in geographically distributed data grid to generate the mobility pattern, which provides various location based services to the mobile users. One of the existing works for deriving mobility pattern is re-executing the algorithm from scratch results in excessive computation. In our work, we have designed new incremental algorithm by maintaining infrequent mobility patterns, which avoids unnecessary scan of full database. We built data grid system on a cluster of workstation using open source Globus Toolkit (GT) and Message Passing Interface extended with grid Services (MPICH-G2). the experiments were conducted on original data sets with incremental addition of data and the computation time was recorded for each data sets. We analyzed our results with various sizes of data sets and it showy the time taken to generate mobility pattern by incremental mining algorithm is less than re-computing approach.
