With relations growing larger, distributed, and queries becoming more complex, parallel query processing is an increasingly attractive option for improving the performance of database systems. distributed and parallel query processing has been widely used in data intensive applications where data of relevance to users are stored at multiple locations. In this paper, we propose a three-tier middleware system for optimizing and processing of distributed queries in parallel on Cluster grid architecture. the main contribution of this paper is providing transparent and integrated access to distributed heterogeneous data resources, getting performance improvements of implicit parallelism by extending technologies from parallel databases. We also proposed the dynamic programming algorithm for query optimization and site selection algorithm for resource balancing. An example query for employee databases is used throughout the paper to show the benefits of the system.

the Global Arrays toolkit is a library that allows programmers to write parallel programs that use large arrays distributed across processing nodes through the Aggregate Remote Memory Copy Interface (ARMCI). OpenMP is an application programming interface that supports shared memory multiprocessing on many architectures and platforms. In the Symmetric-Multi Processors (SMP), the Global Arrays toolkit will expose the programmers quite similar to that provided by OpenMP. In this study, we will further our investigation on the performance of a parallel application implemented with the Global Arrays toolkit and OpenMP on grid computing environment. the investigation focuses on the case that an SMP cluster is included in the grid computing environment. the multi-level parallelism together with multi-level topology-aware techniques have been used in both implementations. We have found that performance of the evaluating application implemented with Global Arrays technique is comparable to that of the application implemented with OpenMP. this implies that programmer can directly port the Global Arrays application directly to the SMP cluster yet its performance is not dropped compared to the native implementation.

With the immense computing power at our disposal, the numerical solution of partial differential equations (PDEs) is becoming a day-to-day task for modern computational scientists. However, the complexity of real-life problems is such that tractable solutions do not exist. this makes it difficult to validate the numerically obtained solution, so good error estimation is crucial in such cases. It allows the user to identify problematic areas in the computational domain that may affect the stability and accuracy of the numerical method. Such areas can then be remedied by either h- or p-adaptive procedures. In this paper, we propose to estimate the error of the numerical solution by solving the same governing problem implicitly and explicitly, using a different approximation order in each case. We demonstrate the newly proposed error indicator on the solution of a synthetic two-dimensional Poisson problem with tractable solution for easier validation. We show that the proposed error indicator has good potential for locating areas of high error. © 2022 University of Split, FESB.

the principle of virtual impedance is analyzed in detail, and the simulation of parallel connection of inverter with different capacity is compared and analyzed in detail. the principle of virtual impedance is analyzed, and its derivation and analysis are carried out in detail. the simulation results show that the reactive power of parallel inverters with different capacities without virtual impedance cannot be distributed proportionally, and there is a large reactive circulation between inverters, which seriously threatens the safe and stable operation of micro grid. After the introduction of virtual impedance, reactive power distribution can be effectively improved, and the distribution effect is better with the increase of virtual impedance, but it will cause voltage sag of AC bus. this paper introduced the virtual impedance into the traditional droop control, make the output impedance and line impedance of the inverter are mainly inductive, so the droop control algorithm is implemented. this paper presented a new method based on the virtual impedance to adjust the frequency and voltage of the micro-grid bus to realize the adjustment of the voltage of the micro grid. © 2020 ACM.

In this paper, we address the design and implementation of DOVE-G (distributed Object-oriented Virtual computing Environment on grid). DOVE-G is designed to integrate application and grid services by encapsulating not only application modules but also grid services as DOVE-G objects, and hence supports an enriched parallel programming environment on grid by enabling users to build a parallel program as a collection of concurrent DOVE-G objects. DOVE-G is built as a multilayered runtime system which can support a unified programming view for application and grid services. Each layer of DOVE-G is implemented in C++ class library, and interacts with one another using the interfaces in the class library to provide system modularity and extensibility. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.

Data replication is a common method used to improve the performance of data access in distributed systems. In this paper, two dynamic replication algorithms, Simple Bottom-Up (SBU) and Aggregate Bottom-Up (ABU), are proposed for the multitier Data grid. A multi-tier Data grid simulator called DRepSim is developed for studying the performances of the dynamic replication algorithms. the simulation results show that both algorithms can reduce the average response time of data access greatly compared to the static replication method. ABU can achieve great performance improvements for all access patterns even if the available storage size of the replication server is very small. Comparing the two algorithms to Fast Spread dynamic replication strategy, ABU proves to be superior. As for SBU, although the average response time of Fast Spread is better in most cases, Fast Spread's replication frequency is too high to be applicable in the real world. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. the grid-connected of the energy storage system (ESS) makes the optimization of the distribution network not only limited to the unilateral reactive power optimization, but can be controlled and optimized by the active power-reactive power coordination with better effect. In this paper, the reactive power of distributed photovoltaic (DPV), the switching capacity of parallel capacitor banks, and the charging and discharging power of the ESS are used as control variables, the minimum network voltage deviation and active network loss are utilizes as the comprehensive optimization indicators to design the objective function. By adding the node voltage violation into the objective function in a form of penalty function, an active-reactive power coordination optimization model of the distribution network with DPV is established. the PSO-CSA algorithm is used to solve the optimization model, and the modified IEEE-33 node power distribution system is simulated to verify the feasibility of active-reactive power coordinated optimization. © 2022 IEEE.

Data visualization is important in the context of grid applications, especially when successive refinements are iteratively realized based on intermediate results. We mainly focus on code coupling grid applications, structured as a set of distributed, autonomous, weakly-coupled codes. We consider the case where the codes are able to interact using the abstraction of a shared data space. In previous work, we have proposed an efficient visualization scheme by introducing a new operation called relaxed read, as an extension to the entry consistency model. this operation can efficiently take place without locking, in parallel with write operations. On the other hand, the user has to relax the consistency constraints, and accept slightly older versions of the data, whose "freshness" can however still be controlled. In this paper, we discuss and extensively evaluate the proposed consistency protocol, whose efficiency is clearly demonstrated by our experimental results.

the article analyses the prospects of optimizing the architecture and the execution logic of selected scripts available in MPD Root project. We considered the option of porting the scripts to allow execution on massive parallel architectures. We collected and structured large data illustrating the project's work: • the project's dependency tables were drawn up with regard to the support of parallel and concurrent computing;• the source code database was indexed to identify cross dependencies among architectural entities;• the code profiling measurements were made at launch time of the scripts in question, the call sequences were analyzed, the execution time of the scripts was evaluated. the study evaluated the prospects of using various libraries and platforms: CUD A, OpenMP, OpenCL, TBB, and MPI. the obtained measurements and the analysis of the best practices of the software under consideration allows to make recommendations for modifying MPD Root in order to optimize: • vectorization of loops;• transfer of continuous computing segments to co-processing architecture;• source code segments whose operation can be represented as call graphs;• source code segments that can be subject to load allocation between computing nodes. © 2016 Fatkina A., Iakushkin O, Gasanova O, Tazieva L.

With the growing installation of distributed PV at a low voltage level and the resulting concerns about good power quality, power facilities see a greater need for energy management programs, especially for flexible distributed PV management. In the dawn of a new generation of ICT technologies, an edge-cloud computing model widely applied to smart distribution transformer terminal units (SD-TTU) is proposed to achieve lifecycle management of power facilities. Firstly, existing distribution management systems' current practices and limitations are presented. According to the development trend, the reconstructed computing model involves three layers, and data interaction among the cloud layer, edge layer, and device layer is described. To support the huge scale of sensed data integration and transmission, the architecture of the edge node is established. then the technical details for the distributed PV management are presented, including equipment configuration, main monitoring information, and specific procedures. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
