Virtual Reality (VR) technology is experiencing rapid growth across various sectors, propelled by advancements in networking and multimedia technologies. the interactive nature inherent in $360^{\circ}$ video transmission in VR scenarios results in the need of end-to-end communications links with very low latency and very high transmission bandwidth to deliver contents to users. this places strain on network infrastructure, necessitating additional investments in resource management and orchestration. One of the most important approaches being introduced for this purpose in the last years is the Digital Twin (DT) technology. To this purpose, this paper proposes a $360^{\circ}$ video streaming framework with differentiated encoding and introduces a DT-based architecture to manage the behavior of the aforementioned framework. the proposed framework is applied to a use case to present some numerical results and discuss how the obtained performance depends on the user's movements while interacting with the viewed scene, under different network delay scenarios.

Recent technological progress is reshaping the execution of daily tasks particularly within the transportation sector, where tools for data collection and analysis have the potential to enhance safety and convenience for travellers. However, despite these advancements, road accidents due to reckless driving continue to occur and effective control methods remain limited. this paper presents a system designed to collect and analyse driver behaviour data from a vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) port to improve road safety by encouraging responsible driving. Real-time data such as RPM, vehicle speed, throttle position, and engine load, are continuously recorded and processed to assess driving habits. Using test drives with different driving styles, a model has been trained that identifies driving patterns and implemented a rating system to evaluate driver’s behaviour over time. In this study, a random forest classifier was applied, achieving an accuracy of 91% in identifying risky driving patterns. the system effectively translates complex driving behaviours into straightforward driver rating, offering actionable insights for safer road practices. this approach demonstrates that machine learning applied to vehicle data can be a valuable tool in reducing accidents and promoting responsible driving.

Nowadays, high resolution aerial or satellite photos can be taken, which can be appropriate for further analyses. Photos can be taken using a satellite, aircraft, a robot drone or even a multicopter. However, generally speaking, every solution results in similarly high-resolution images. Analyses can be conducted on the resulting aerial photos in the light of various criteria, which conditions can be determined by the customer. One such task can be the enumeration of pools built in areas with detached houses, which can constitute the basis for specific data. One of the most obvious automated procedures for the detection of objects is to use neural networks, which utilizing properly chosen teaching samples is subsequently able to decide about individual image parts whether they contain the desired object or not. In spite of a large number of teaching samples, a neural network may give a false-positive or a false-negative result in the image passed over for analysis. these mistakes can occur from the fact that the teaching samples and the photos of the areas examined were not taken in the same season, in the same time of day or that they do not show pools having the same maintenance level. Instead of the further teaching of the network, the mentioned mistakes can be eliminated using classical image analysis methods in a way that the results of individual procedures are fusioned. Such methods may be color coding analysis or Fuzzy-logic analysis based on some property in the image. Fuzzy-logic can be used to detect visual objects if there is a definite, distinctive property, like color range or color depth.

Frequency diverse array (FDA) radar has more degree of freedom in beamforming and modulation than conventional phased array radar. When the phase points to the fixed direction, the range of interest can also be specified by adjusting the frequencies of elements in linear array. this characteristic of frequency diversity makes an additional offset in the beampattern for both the range and angle dimension. the design of frequency and array element determine the performance of FDA radar. In this paper, the focused beam pattern is synthesized by using the proposed nonlinear frequency offsets in uniform linear frequency diverse array radar. Specifically, the improved μ-law function is used to calculate the inhomogeneous cell spacing and the sym-metric mapping is used to generate nonlinear frequency offset. the range-dependent and angle-dependent coupling is eliminated to achieve the dot shaped beampattern for the accuracy target estimation. Simulations and results show the effectiveness of the new strategy and verify its superiority to compare with other methods.

We propose a trajectory planning and control theory for continuous movements such as connected cursive handwriting and continuous natural speech. Its hardware is based on our previously proposed forward-inverse-relaxation neural network (Wada & Kawato, 1993). Computationally, its optimization principle is the minimum torque-change criterion. Regarding the representation level, hard constraints satisfied by a trajectory are represented as a set of via-points extracted from a handwritten character. Accordingly, we propose a via-point estimation algorithm that estimates via-points by repeating the trajectory formation of a character and the via-point extraction from the character. In experiments, good quantitative agreement is found between human handwriting data and the trajectories generated by the theory. Finally, we propose a recognition schema based on the movement generation. We show a result in which the recognition schema is applied to the handwritten character recognition and can be extended to the phoneme timing estimation of natural speech.

this paper proposes a novel fast architecture for two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform by using lifting scheme. the parallel and embedded decimation techniques are employed to optimize the architecture, which is mainly composed of two horizontal filter modules and one vertical filter module, working in parallel and pipeline fashion with 100% hardware utilization. the architecture is designed to generate two outputs at one working clock cycle, with every two subbands coefficients alternately. the total time of computing J levels of decomposition for N×N image is approximately 2N（1-4）/3 clock cycles. In comparison with the other devices reported in previous literature, the design has many advantages including lower hardware complexity and area and power efficient. the design is also fast, regular and simple, as well as well suited for VLSI implementation.

the mode distribution can be expressed as the wavenumber spectrum distribution, providing a basis for the matched mode processing to discriminate the source depth through depth estimation. the synthetic aperture formed by a moving source can be used to beamform the wavenumber spectrum, saving the physical aperture. However, the high-resolution spectrum also requires the source to move a distance of kilometers, so as to ensure a reliable depth estimate. We relax the source depth estimation into the source depth discrimination in this paper, based on the distinction in mode distribution between surface and submerged sources on the wavenumber spectrum. the characteristics that surface sources cannot excite low-order modes is still discernable on the wavenumber spectrum, when the aperture is too small to resolve all the modes. In this method, a small-aperture synthetic beamforming is applied to get a low-resolution mode distribution on the wavenumber domain. the spectral peaks are matched with the calculated mode functions to yield the depth ambiguity function, from the peak of which one can discriminate the source depth, despite the peak may not represent a reliable depth estimate. the needed aperture will be greatly reduced in this method. the feasibility is illustrated by a numerical example, where the aperture for the 49Hz source depth discrimination is required only a quarter of the one for source depth estimation.
