the increasing complexity and sophistication of cybersecurity threats necessitate the development of strong and flexible incident response systems. this study presents a hybrid methodology that utilizes various machine learning models such as Random Forest (RF), Decision Trees (DT), Isolation Forest, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and a unique Hybrid Gated Recurrent Unit—CNN (GRU-CNN) design. the proposed model seeks to improve the precision and effectiveness of incident detection and response in real-time. the study shows that combining various models is effective in creating a robust defense mechanism against cyber threats. Random Forest and Decision Trees improve model interpretability, while Isolation Forest boosts anomaly detection abilities. the Convolutional Neural Network integration aids in extracting spatial features from input data, while the Hybrid GRU-CNN enhances the model’s capacity to capture temporal dependencies in cybersecurity incidents. the hybrid approach demonstrated superior performance, achieving an impressive accuracy of 98.86% in incident detection and response, as shown by experimental results. the proposed model shows significant progress in managing spatial and temporal aspects of cybersecurity data, surpassing individual models and conventional methods. Combining machine learning methods creates a strong base for developing flexible and durable AI-powered incident response systems in the changing field of Cybersecurity. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, have become indispensable in surveillance, search and rescue, and border security operations due to their versatility and ability to navigate challenging environments. Despite advancements in drone technology, real-time human detection remains a significant challenge, constrained by computational limitations, environmental variability, and the demand for high-speed processing. this paper introduces an innovative human detection system powered by the lightweight YOLOv3-tiny deep learning algorithm, integrated into a UAV platform for efficient and accurate detection. the system balances real-time performance with computational efficiency, making it well-suited for resource-limited environments. Extensive experiments validate its reliability across diverse scenarios, including military zone monitoring and border patrol operations. the results demonstrate its potential to address key challenges in UAV applications, offering a scalable and effective solution for enhancing autonomous security and surveillance systems.

Traditional methods of responding to cybersecurity incidents often use set playbooks or routines that don’t change, which might not work well with the constantly changing nature of modern cyber dangers. the idea behind this paper is to create and use decision systems that are specifically designed for adapting how to handle hacking incidents. Advanced artificial intelligence (AI) methods, such as machine learning and natural language processing, are used by these decision systems to analyze security events in real time and help people make quick, well-informed decisions. these systems improve the speed and efficiency of hacking reaction by constantly learning from past events and responding to new threats. Automatic danger recognition, risk assessment, and reaction planning are important parts of the suggested decision systems. Automated systems that look for threats use AI algorithms to look for signs of bad behavior in network traffic, system logs, and other relevant data sources. the risk assessment tools look at the dangers and how bad they could be, considering things like how sensitive the data is, how important the system is, and the rules that need to be followed. Decision systems actively plan responses based on danger recognition and risk assessment results. these responses may include separating affected systems, blocking suspicious IP addresses, or sending events to human experts for further study. Over time, these systems get better at making decisions by using adaptive learning methods and constant feedback loops. this makes it easier for them to spot and stop new cyber threats. the creating and using decision systems for adaptive cybersecurity incident reaction is a big step toward making organizations’ defenses more resilient and effective in the face of changing cyber dangers. the practical implementations and technological advances of the YOLO method in computer vision for object detection are examined in this article. Santosh Divvala and Joseph Redmon’s YOLO artificial intelligence system can accurately and quickly detect objects in videos and images, eliminating the need for network iterations. Instead of using traditional methods, YOLO directly generates bounding boxes and class probabilities for each object, optimising the procedure. After reading this, the process is clearer. this study examines YOLO’s effectiveness in various situations. this technology has many applications in industrial automation, AR/VR, autonomous vehicles, healthcare, and retail. this article examines YOLO model training and data preparation. COCO datasets are used in this study. the architectural components of YOLO versions 7 and 8 are also examined. the findings show that YOLO v8 is highly accurate in identifying a wide range of objects in real time. this study shows YOLO’s revolutionary potential as object detection software for BV applications, highlighting its outstanding features. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Emotion recognition based on physiological signals has become a crucial area of research in affective computing and human-computer interaction, with applications in smart homes, workplaces, educational institutions, healthcare, and entertainment. In this study, a real-time emotion recognition system utilizing fog computing architecture was developed by considering the challenges of latency, total response time, resource usage, and security in IoT environments. the random forest machine learning model was trained with time-based statistical features by using the DREAMER dataset. Even though the model achieved an accuracy of 84.21% with 104 features, to meet real-time performance requirements, the system was optimized to calculate 24 features, maintaining a commendable accuracy of 79.70%. Extensive experiments demonstrated the superior performance of fog computing compared to edge and cloud computing in terms of latency, queuing delay, jitter, and most importantly total response time. the results highlight the proposed system’s ability to support multiple users simultaneously.

New opportunities in cloud computing have brought many new risks that require effective protection of dynamic distributed environments. Introducing a new formative technology, generative AI, to cloud security has far-reaching benefits for automating threat detection, real-time incident addressing, and vulnerability management. this paper focuses on extending generative AI with cloud security tools like AWS GuardDuty and Google Cloud Security Command Center; the contemplation of accuracy enhancement and response efficiency highlights its aim. Concerning actual applications such as SOAR systems, the study demonstrates how media industry giants, such as Netflix and JPMorgan Chase, have used AI to minimize risk factors while increasing operational efficiency. the paper also discusses the significant increase in response time, enhanced detection accuracy, and the shift to proactive security strategies brought by generative AI. Drawing attention to AI systems’ opportunities, the study examines the subsequent issues connected with AI applications, including over-dependence on AI tools, adversarial risk to models, and the complex nature of decisionmaking in the context of AI systems. the present study also highlights the importance of generative AI in strengthening the defense of the cloud environment, but, at the same time, it recognizes the significance of preventive efforts and planned action plans to manage these technologies efficiently.

With the increasing deployments of automated vehicles (AVs) in shared environments, many questions arise concerning the safety of interactions between these vehicles and other road users, especially for the most vulnerable. this paper presents 1) a mobile application designed to provide real-time collision risk alerts to pedestrians, leveraging cellular network communication and edge computing for low-latency warnings, and 2) the evaluation of this application by end users after road tests. the system was evaluated through controlled experiments, demonstrating average delays of less than 100 ms for alert notifications. User feedback indicated strong support for such safety technologies, with most participants highlighting the importance of receiving notifications in poor visibility conditions. While some localization challenges led to occasional false positives, the overall user experience and system performance were promising, suggesting this approach as a viable solution to improve VRU safety in smart cities. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2025.

Image processing has become one of the popular neuromorphic computing applications in recent years. Most of the application areas require an efficient and real time image processing system. Memristor is a useful memory device which plays an important role to design an image processing system and realization of hardware design. Due to the non-volatile nature of memory and less power consumption, Memristor has a huge application in the field of image processing. Being a memory device, Memristor can preserve data and parameters during processing time and reducing the need for data transfer as well as storage. In this research, Memristor in the form of CNN architecture will store the image extracted data where pixel image is given as an input and voltage pulses are generated according to the pixel value. the voltage pulses are then applied as input to the Memristor crossbars and compared with a certain threshold voltage above which an output neuron responds. the above mention system is trained for image recognition applications in real time scenarios. the real time image processing based Memristor system can have huge application areas such as medical imaging, security, computer vision and robotics.

this paper explores the application of the Short-time Fourier Transform (STFT) for feature extraction in audio recognition, specifically using the Free Spoken Digit Dataset. the STFT is employed to analyze the time-varying spectral content of the spoken digit samples, aiming to extract discriminative features that aid in accurate digit classification. the dataset consists of recordings of spoken digits from multiple speakers, with variations in pitch, accent, and speaking style. the STFT is computed on short overlapping segments of the audio signals, providing a time-frequency representation of the data. From the STFT, magnitude spectra are obtained, capturing the energy distribution across different frequency bands over time. Several spectral features are derived from the magnitude spectra, including spectral centroid, spectral flux, and spectral roll-off. these features serve as inputs to machine learning algorithms, enabling the classification of spoken digits. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the STFT-based feature extraction approach for audio recognition. the combination of spectral features derived from the STFT achieves high classification accuracy on the Free Spoken Digit Dataset. the analysis reveals that the STFT captures important spectral patterns, facilitating discrimination between different spoken digits and mitigating the effects of variations in speakers and speaking styles. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

this paper presents preliminary findings on the real-time performance of fundamental mathematical operations, moving beyond traditional asymptotic analysis. While asymptotic analysis offers valuable insights into algorithms' theoretical behavior, it is equally important to consider real-world applications' practical performance and resource constraints. Our work empirically measures and analyzes the execution time of basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, etc.) across various data types and sizes, along with a basic Artificial Neural Network (ANN). the results emphasize the effect of size on the algorithm's overall performance, keeping in mind the complication of the operation itself. Our results focus on studying real-time performance beyond the theoretical analysis offered by asymptotic analysis are considered the building block for further research. Moreover, it lays the groundwork for a deeper understanding of real-time performance for scalable algorithms for real-time big data analytics where efficient execution of basic operations is essential. Also, applying adaptive optimization based on machine learning techniques for optimal performance. Using machine learning to predict the real-time cost of basic operations is an innovative approach.
