As the number of the Internet of things (IoT) devices connected to the internet increases, the amount of data explodes. this leads to a higher demand for internet speed during data transfer and more requirements for computing power and storage in central servers. To address these issues and enable real-time data processing while reducing network bandwidth utilization, edge computing has become a promising solution. this article focuses on the development of the IoT application on the edge computing platform in case of the mobility of the User Equipment (UE) to solve problems like latency and network bandwidth occupation for IoT applications while moving between two zones. the methodology involves simulating a network model to evaluate performance metrics such as latency and bandwidth under mobility conditions. Results demonstrate that latency is reduced to approximately 30-50 ms during UE mobility, highlighting the efficacy of Multi-access Edge computing (MEC) in IoT systems. these findings suggest that edge computing can significantly enhance the performance of time-sensitive IoT applications.

this paper explores the transformative potential of Lightweight AI techniques in enhancing the capabilities of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). As the demand for real-time processing and efficient data management grows, traditional AI models face significant limitations due to their high computational and resource requirements. We discuss key Lightweight AI techniques, including Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML), model compression methods, edge computing, transfer learning, and federated learning, which collectively enable more efficient UAV operations. the paper further examines various applications of Lightweight AI in drones, highlighting its role in pandemic response, object detection, vegetation segmentation, forest-fire detection, real-time path planning, and autonomous landing. Each application demonstrates how lightweight models can improve decision-making and operational efficiency in dynamic environments. We also address the challenges faced in implementing these technologies, such as resource constraints and the need for robust real-time processing. Finally, we outline future directions for research and development in Lightweight AI, emphasizing the necessity for continued innovation to fully leverage UAV potential across diverse sectors. this comprehensive analysis underscores the critical role of Lightweight AI in advancing UAV technology and enhancing their functionalities in various practical applications.

Monitoring chloride levels in water is essential for environmental health, industrial processes, and safe drinking water, as both high and low concentrations can cause harm for living being. this paper presents a novel approach to detecting chloride concentrations using Open-Ended Coaxial Probe (OECP) sensing combined with machine learning algorithms. OECP sensing offers real-time, non-destructive, and precise monitoring, enabling early detection of contaminants. Scattering parameter ( $S$ 11) data across a broad frequency range was collected with varying chloride concentrations in controlled laboratory experiments. thirteen machine learning algorithms were trained to predict chloride concentrations, with different datasets for training and testing to ensure robustness. Among these, CatBoost demonstrated the best performance. After fine tuning and cross-validation, the CatBoost model achieved a test Mean Square Error (MSE) of 0.00627 and Coefficient of Determination (R2) of 0.9936, showcasing its accuracy for applications in water monitoring, corrosion prevention, and safeguarding public health.

In recent years, page-table the applications of virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality have become more and more popular, all of which are essentially image rendering. Graphics rendering requires a lot of calculations to determine the rendering parameters of each pixel. However, how to reveal the micro-architecture characteristics of GPGPU to help architects increase optimization opportunities and improve the performance of microprocessors becomes imperative. In this article, we propose RenderMiner, a framework which comprehensively characterizes the GPGPU rendering programs at the instruction and memory levels. Specifically, we design instruction mix based on the SASS instruction set, instruction frequency, register reuse distribution and memory call stack to efficiently depict the micro-architecture characteristics of rendering programs and compare with the non-rendering programs. We use RenderMiner to analyze the inherent behaviors of rendering programs combined with machining learning methods through 60 CPU rendering programs, 34 GPU rendering programs, 52 GPU non-rendering programs such as Rodinia and Parboil, and some real-world workloads, such as V-Ray5 Benchmark, Blender, Octane and Kobra Vulkan. After analysis of the rendering programs and comparison with non-rendering programs and the real-world workloads, the key findings of our conclusion are as following: (1) the instruction mix of CPU rendering programs is totally different from that of MiBench, especially at the aspect of arithmetic operation, memory read, memory write and control flow. (2) the instruction-level parallel interval of the CPU rendering program is mainly concentrated from 3 to 6. (3) there is comparable instruction frequency among GPU rendering, Octane, Kobra vulkan and non-rendering programs. Proposes a framework to model fault-tolerant real-time systems consisting of RobustRTOs (Robust real-time Objects) and RMOs (Region Monitor real-time Objects). A RobustRTO is an object which is capable of tolerating faults in itself. Many existing fault-tolerant mechanisms, such as RB (recovery blocks) and NVP (N-version programming), are modeled as RobustRTOs. An RMO is an object which is capable of monitoring a set of objects, named regions. the RMO detects any abnormal behavior of the objects within a region, diagnoses the symptoms and performs appropriate recovery and/or reconfiguration. Although the concepts of RobustRTOs and RMOs are introduced based on a real-time object model, we believe they are applicable to the modeling and design of any dependable embedded real-time system. © 2000 IEEE.

We analyze a checkpointing strategy for multiple real time tasks with deadlines. real time tasks usually have deadlines associated with them. For multiple real time tasks, a checkpointing strategy considering deadlines of all tasks is very difficult to derive. We analyze the problem of checkpoint placement for such multiple tasks. In our strategy, the interval between checkpoints are determined for each task. An approximated failure probability over a specified interval is derived. then the number of checkpoints for each task is selected to minimize the approximated failure probability. To show the usefulness of our strategy, the error bound between the exact and the approximated failure probability is estimated, which is revealed to be quite small. © 2000 IEEE.
