A three-dimensional wing aerodynamic design optimization procedure was developed based on the NURBS (non-uniform rational B-spline). the procedure includes NURBS-based wing geometry generation module, NURBS-based grid generation system, inviscid Euler equations solver and numerical optimization algorithm. the convex hull, local support, shape preserving forms and the variation diminishing properties of NURBS gives an excellent capability of wing geometry design. the current procedure also offers accurate geometry data transferring from the design optimization system to any CAD system since all the geometrical entities in the procedure involves the parametric based NURBS, which is accepted as the standard for the geometry definition in IGES (initial graphics exchange specification). the application of the procedure to the transonic wing design shows a reasonable result in the aspect of reduced wave drag due to the weakened shock strength on the upper surface. © 2003 7th Korea-Russia Intl Sym on Science.

A comparative evaluation of the different modulation schemes for the grid-connected converter with two parallel interleaved Voltage Source Converters (VSCs) is presented in this paper. the volume and the losses of the converter-side inductor of the LCL harmonic filter are evaluated for the grid-side converter of the multi-MW Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS). In order to achieve high current rating in MW-level WECS, two-level VSCs are often connected in parallel. the parallel connected VSCs can be operated with interleaved carrier signals and can be treated as a multi-level converter. As a result, the size of the harmonic filter components can be significantly reduced. However, circulating current flows between the parallel VSCs and it is often suppressed using a Coupled Inductor (CI). the losses and size of the CI are also evaluated for different modulation schemes and compared in this paper. A detailed discussion on the loss modeling of the inductive components and a multi-objective optimization method is also presented.

the article deals with the development of a method for solving the problem of adequacy optimization of power systems. the adequacy optimization is understood as the definition of such a composition of infrastructure objects of the electric power system, which would correspond to the target value of the probability of a deficit-free system operation at minimal financial costs. this problem belongs to the class of combinatorial optimization problems. Due to the peculiarities of the formulation of problems of this type, the use of traditional optimization methods is difficult here and the most used algorithms are search and stochastic algorithms. So, to solve the problem of synthesis of reliability, it is proposed to use an adaptive simulating annealing. When using this method, the states of the electric power system are randomly generated, where each random state is characterized by a special composition of the generating equipment. Since each generation object has different properties, as well as the degree of influence on the system adequacy, when using the simulated annealing method, it is proposed to use two types of weighting factors. the former includes the initial weighting coefficients formed from the characteristics of the generation units, the latter - the dynamic importance coefficients formed from the point of view of the influence of the generation units on the system deficit. the latter are proposed to be retrieved and updated using the random forest method. the task of such coefficients is to regulate the frequency of blocks exit from the generation in accordance with their efficiency. Additionally, the article proposes to introduce a coefficient of mass distribution of blocks. the use of the above coefficients should increase the speed of convergence of the problem at the point of minimum generation when outputting the least efficient generating elements. the work of the method is shown in experimental calculations of the adequacy optimization of a tes

Inlining is one of the most important compiler optimizations. It reduces call overheads and widens the scope of other optimizations. But, inlining is somewhat of a black art of an optimizing compiler, and was characterized as a computationally intractable problem. Intricate heuristics, tuned during countless hours of compiler engineering, are often at the core of an inliner implementation. And despite decades of research, well-established inlining heuristics are still missing. In this paper, we describe a novel inlining algorithm for JIT compilers that incrementally explores a program's call graph, and alternates between inlining and optimizations. We devise three novel heuristics that guide our inliner: adaptive decision thresholds, callsite clustering, and deep inlining trials. We implement the algorithm inside Graal, a dynamic JIT compiler for the HotSpot JVM. We evaluate our algorithm on a set of industry-standard benchmarks, including Java DaCapo, Scalabench, Spark-Perf, STMBench7 and other benchmarks, and we conclude that it significantly improves performance, surpassing state-of-the-art inlining approaches with speedups ranging from 5% up to 3x.

Proper reactive power dispatch can not only reduce the active power loss, but also can improve the voltage stability, and make the system operate in the security operation range. In this paper, we use intelligent control method is used to implement optimal reactive power dispatch for IEEE30-bus and IEEE57-bus systems. And we use three types of optimization algorithms to compare: Charged System Search (CSS), Particle Swarm optimization (PSO), and Hybrid Charged System Search and Particle Swarm optimization (HCSSPSO). Analysis of reactive power dispatch benefits. In this paper, the optimal objective function is to minimize the loss rate in the transmission line, and satisfies all the constraints of the system, be sure to consider the optimal objective function range of within a reasonable. From the simulation results, HCSSPSO can get the global optimal solution faster than CSS and PSO. therefore, the times of solve can be reduced and the global optimal solution can be obtained more easily. through the analysis of both the IEEE 30-bus and IEEE 57-bus systems, it is demonstrated that the optimization method used is feasible for reactive power dispatch, reducing the active power loss in the transmission line and keeping the load bus voltage range of within a reasonable. Expect to help dispatchers make more economical and secure dispatch.

the mathematical model on a long-term generation resources optimization that has complex constraints are established, which include physical constraints of generating equipment, operational constraints formed with resource constraints, operation constraints, network constraints, environmental constraints, unit commitment and energy consumption of real time generation are also considered in the model. Considering that time sequence constraints and continuous constraints are coexisted in the model, independent constraints and combined constraints based on optimization variables are coexisted in the model, discrete and continuous variables are also coexisted in the model, equivalent sampling method based on optimal period are submitted to achieve the equivalent simplification on long-term time series curve, reduce the dimension of optimization model, and ultimately improve the computing efficiency. Load rate is introduced to achieve the conversion between the power and electrical energy, and realize the mixed optimization of power and electrical energy. © 2013 IEEE.

the NTFS file system supports general usage of hard drives;but in some cases, it may be necessary to store large number of small files in this file system. In this context, small files are the files with size below the cluster size. this can be a problem because there will be a significant difference between the actual size of the file and the occupied disk storage size. Another problem is the high number of I/O operations during file processing. In this paper, we are looking for a solution to the problem of storing small files by grouping them together and store them as a single file or database instance. the examined methods were evaluated according to several criteria;and based on the Pareto dominance principle, we propose a generally good solution performing well for all metrics.

the computation of the intersection area of a large number of circles with known centers and radii is a challenging geometric problem. Nevertheless, its resolution finds several applications in the analysis and modeling of wireless networks. Prior literature discusses up to three circles and even in this case there are many possible geometric configurations, each leading to a different involved close-form expression for the intersection area. In this paper, we derive two novel geometric results, that allow the check of the existence and the computation of the area of the intersection regions generated by more than three circles by simple algebraic manipulations of the intersection areas of a smaller number of circles. Based on these results, we construct an iterative algorithm based on a trellis structure that efficiently computes the intersection areas of an arbitrary number of circles. As an example of practical application of our results, we derive the probability that a fixed number of mobiles can be reliably allocated to a set of base stations in code division multiple access-based cellular networks.

Hydrogen generation by methane steam reforming in a thermally coupled membrane reformer-combustor has been experimentally studied. the concentric three-compartment reactor indirectly couples methane steam reforming with catalytic methane combustion and with a Pd-Ag membrane, to provide extrapure hydrogen. the reactor call be independently operated at steady state with the enthalpy required for the steam reforming and for heat losses provided by methane oxidation. the study focuses oil the experimental demonstration of two approaches for the optimization of hydrogen generation in terms of power Output and process efficiency: increasing the membrane separation ability and recycling reformer products to the combustion section.

In this paper, we present an approach to estimate GPU applications' performance upper bound based on algorithm analysis and assembly code level benchmarking. As an example, we analyze the potential peak performance of SGEMM (Single-precision General Matrix Multiply) on Fermi (GF110) and Kepler (GK104) GPUs. We try to answer the question of how much optimization space is left for SGEMM and why. According to our analysis, the nature of Fermi (Kepler) instruction set and the limited issue throughput of the schedulers are the main limitation factors for SGEMM to approach the theoretical peak performance. the estimated upper-bound peak performance of SGEMM is around 82.5% of the theoretical peak performance on GTX580 Fermi GPU and 57.6% on GTX680 Kepler GPU. Guided by this analysis and using the native assembly language, on average, our SGEMM implementations achieve about 5% better performance than CUBLAS in CUDA 4.1 SDK for large matrices on GTX580. the achieved performance is around 90% of the estimated upper-bound performance of SGEMM on GTX580. On GTX680, the best performance we achieve is around 77.3% of the estimated performance upper bound. We also describe how to use native assembly language directly in the CUDA runtime source code.
