Biomolecular computing (BMC) aims to capture the innumerable advantages that biological molecules have gained in the course of millions of years of evolution to perform computation unfeasible on conventional electronic computers. While biomolecules have resolved fundamental problems as a parallel computer system that we are just beginning To decipher BMC still suffers from our inability to harness these properties To bring biomolecular computations to levels of reliability: efficiency and scalability that are now taken for gl granted with conventional solid-state based computers. Here, bye explore an alternative approach to exploiting these properties by building virtual test tubes iii software that would capture the fundamental advantages of biomolecules, in the same wall that evolutionary algorithms capture in silico the key properties of Darwinian evolution. We use a previously built tool, Edna, to explore the capabilities of the new paradigm.

this paper examines implementations of a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) on bus-based shared memory (SM) and on distributed memory (DM) multiprocessor systems. the goal has been to optimize HW and SW architectures in order to obtain the fastest response possible. Prototyping parallel MLP algorithms for up to 8 processing nodes withthe DM as well as SM memory was done using CSP-based TRANSIM tool. the results of prototyping MLPs of different sizes on various number of processing nodes demonstrate the feasible speedups, efficiency and time responses for the given CPU speed, link speed or bus bandwidth.

the Internet and wireless networks are two of the most important technical developments that have had a direct effect on the lives of people over the past few years. the next step is to combine these two technologies to provide wide-area wireless Internet access. Currently, Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is the most important protocol that integrates a wide range of different physical networks into a global Internet. the environment of wireless networks violates many assumptions made by traditional TCP/IP. Compared with fixed and wired networks, the wireless networks have high bit-error rate (BER) and offer less available bandwidth. Furthermore, the host mobility also results in packet loss or delay during handoff procedures. Hence, the performance of TCP/IP over such wireless networks without any modification would suffer significant degradation of throughput and high interactive delay. In this paper, we propose some schemes to improve the performance of TCP/IP over wireless networks according to their characteristics. In this paper, we analyze: the performance of TCP/IP under different network conditions by using ns-2 simulator to facilitate comparisons with previous studies. the simulation results show that our proposed mechanisms achieve better performance than other protocols.
Systematic parallelization of sequential programs remains a major challenge in parallelcomputing. Traditional approaches using program schemes tend to be narrower in scope, as the properties which enable parallelism ...

the recent increase in the performance of commodity computer hardware, along withthe constant cost reductions, has created a very favorable medium for building cluster based distributedparallel machines. Such machines have been demonstrated to reach performance levels of supercomputers designed just a few years ago. During the same period, the developments in parallel programming techniques, standardization of message passing libraries and their interfaces with high-level programming languages made it possible to use distributedparallel computers for solving computationally very intensive problems. the uninterrupted reduction of device dimensions has highlighted issues such as granularity of doping, actual shape of device boundaries in the third dimension, and proper modeling of carrier-carrier interactions due to very high fields in such devices. Also a new interest in development of inherently 3-D dimensional devices, due to performance and integration density considerations has been created. We have designed and implemented a cluster based parallel 3-D Monte Carlo simulation core for Si semiconductor devices. the main focus has been on enabling the simulator to perform well on a cluster of commodity computers. the networking hardware used on such a distributed computer typically leads to a significantly larger communications cost (larger latency and reduce bandwidth) than that of a specially built parallel computer. For this reason code has been designed in such a way to minimize unstructured communication requirements among nodes.

In this paper pal allel modelling of linear inhomogeneous 1D distributed parameter systems is considered. Two modelling methods in relation to parallel simulation are discussed: a two-point series expansion method and an eigenfunction expansion method. Both methods are validated with two different source terms for which the analytical solutions are known. A comparison of both approaches with respect to convergence aspects, accuracy, work load, and explicit parallelism is presented.
