A growing number of collaborative networked organizations can be found in industry, services, and research. However, the lack of a reference model that could synthesize and formalize the base concepts, principles, and recommended practices, is an obstacle for an easier and more consistent development of the area. therefore, after a clarification of concepts and terminology, the ARCON reference modeling approach is proposed considering multiple modeling perspectives: environment characteristics, life cycle, and modeling intent. this novel modeling framework takes into account contributions from previous works on enterprise modeling and extends them to the context of collaborative networked organizations. A taxonomy of collaborative networks is introduced. Examples of concepts to be part of a reference model are collected and abstracted from several manifestations of collaborative networks. Establishing a reference model in this area is a long-term endeavor;therefore this contribution is aimed as just a step in this process for which needed further research is also identified.

this paper describes a systematic approach to building micro-solar power subsystems for wireless sensor network nodes. Our approach composes models of the basic pieces -solar panels, regulators, energy storage elements, and application loads - to appropriately select and size the components. We demonstrate our approach in the context of a microclimate monitoring project through the design of the node, micro-solar subsystem, and network, which is deployed in a challenging, deep forest setting. We evaluate our deployment by analyzing the effects of the range of solar profiles experienced across the network.

A sociocognitive representation is proposed to support preliminary analytical evaluations of system-wide impacts of technological or procedural changes considering authority distribution. the method is illustrated with examples from ASAS Sequencing & Merging procedures. Preceding human-in-the-loop simulations, this approach facilitates the definition of relevant scenariosequences to be subject of detailed experimental investigation. As part of an iterative process, it supports the elicitation of emerging functions and can be used as a communication support in an interdisciplinary R&D team.

In the automotive industry, today's major objectives concern the reduction of pollutant emissions and fuel consumption while improving performance and driveability. For this purpose, during the last decade, the classical engine has evolved towards a very complex system combining many hi-tech components with advanced control strategies. Optimising the whole engine system and controlling its behaviour has then become a real challenge for car manufacturers. In this context, powertrain simulation tools have been shown to provide an undisputable support during all stages of engine development from concept design to control strategies development and calibration. However these tools require sophisticated models to be efficient, especially in the combustion chamber where combustion and pollutant formation processes take place. this paper presents a OD physical combustion model devoted to the prediction of heat release and pollutants in SI engines. the originality of this model derives from the fact it is based on the reduction of the 3D CFD E-CFM (Extended Coherent Flame Model) model developed at IFP [1]. the CFM formalism distinguishes two zones: the fresh and the burnt gases, which are separated by a flame front and are both described by their temperature, mass and composition. the proposed model is an important evolution of the CFM-1D model previously published in [2]. It computes the rate of consumption of the fresh gases and is based on the calculation of the flame front surface usingthe real engine geometry and a OD derivation of the flame surface density approach. Pollutants (CO and NOx) are computed boththrough the flame front and within the burnt gases using a reduced kinetic scheme and a classical extended Zel'dovitch mechanism. the whole model is validated against experimental data at several steady state operating points for two engine configurations. Home automation has recently gained a new momentum thanks to the ever-increasing commercial availability of domotic components. In this context, researchers are working to provide interoperation mechanisms and to add intelligence on top of them. For supporting intelligent behaviors, house modeling is an essential requirement to understand current and future house states and to possibly drive more complex actions. In this paper we propose a new house modeling ontology designed to fit real world domotic system capabilities and to support interoperation between currently available and future solutions. Taking advantage of technologies developed in the context of the Semantic Web, the DogOnt ontology supports device/network independent description of houses, including both "controllable" and architectural elements. States and functionalities are automatically associated to the modeled elements through proper inheritance mechanisms and by means of properly defined SWRL auto-completion rules which ease the modeling process, while automatic device recognition is achieved through classification reasoning.
