Problems of development of complex technological objects models, on the example of coke chambers of delayed coking unit, which are characterised by fuzzyness of some output parameters, are investigated and an approach to their solution is proposed. A method for developing models of objects with fuzzy parameters has been developed and described, which is implemented in the development of clear and fuzzy models of coke chambers. the originality of the proposed method lies in the development of effective models of objects with fuzzy parameters using available statistical and fuzzy information and the idea of a systems approach. On the basis of the developed models, the simulation of the modes of operation of coke chambers was carried out and the optimal modes of their operation were determined. the obtained results of the proposed method are compared with the results of known methods and real production data, and the advantages of the proposed approach to modelling taking into account the fuzzyness of some output parameters of the object are shown. © 2023 IEEE.

Magnetic levitation systems (maglev) have emerged as a promising technology for a wide range of applications due to their numerous benefits. However, these systems are highly unstable and nonlinear, requiring a suitable controller to enhance their performance. this study proposes a hybrid Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID-P) controller to improve the position control of the maglev system. A non-linear behaviour model representing the maglev system is developed using appropriate mathematical modelling. the performance results of the proposed controller are compared with those of a 2- DOF PID controller using simulation in Matlab-Simulink. In this study, we focus on the performance analysis of an optimized PID- P controller for the position control of MLS. First, we develop a mathematical model for the system and linearize the nonlinear dynamics to establish the input-output relationship based on the physical parameters of the MLS. We then apply conventional PID and PID-P controllers for MLS control and optimize the PID-P controller using modern optimization algorithms the findings indicate that the proposed PID-P controller outperforms the traditional 2-DOF PID controller in terms of position control performance. the transient and steady-state responses of both modern and classical controllers are also analysed. the results of this study provide a useful enhancement analysis in the time domain for the unstable position control of the maglev system. © the Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.

In this paper, mathematical modelling based on strip theory of the Hydrodynamically Actuated Manipulator (HAM) is proposed to use it for analysis and control synthesis. A set of Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) describes the behaviour of the HAM. First, considering the Euler-Lagrange methodology, the motion of the R perpendicular to R parallel to P manipulator is obtained. then, a Newtonian approach is under study to add the effects of a fluid surrounding the 3-DOF manipulator. In order to describe this interaction, each link of the manipulator affected by hydrodynamic forces is discretized on small elements. their contribution is added to obtain the net acceleration of each link of the HAM. In order to qualitatively validate the model, a numerical simulation are under study. the experiment consists of a comparison between the Lagrangian of the 3-DOF manipulator and its motion when is affected by each added hydrodynamic force.

Increasing E. Coli - AMR cases in hospitals have been a major healthcare concern in many countries, especially the United Kingdom (UK). Although the current policies in the UK are helpful in early screening of hospital-onset E. Coli-AMR cases to prevent the complications like death at the hospital level, they are not proactive enough to bring down the rising cases in hospitals. this is because community-onset E. Coli-AMR cases have been overlooked - it is the community-onset cases that spread the infections within the country, eventually increasing hospitalization, hospital-onset cases, and serious complications. Hence, it is necessary for the policies to be proactive in addressing the issue at the community level (upstream), which can reduce hospital cases. this paper hypothesizes and validates a holistic model that captures the interconnections within and between hospital and community sectors using a revised systems thinking / System Dynamics (ST/SD) modelling methodology. the revised method helped reduce the number of parameters in the hypothesized model from 22 to 4 and identify key leverage points in the system. A preliminary model-based policy evaluation has been performed targeting the leverage points that would bring down the ***-AMR cases

It is known that biological tissues present temperature-dependent electrical conductivity. this fact has been considered in electroporation-based cancer therapies such as electrochemotherapy and ablation with irreversible electroporation, especially in pre-treatment simulations, mathematical modeling, and the development of new protocols. In this work, we proposed a novel low-cost experimental setup suitable for plate electrodes based on Peltier modules to control the temperature of the tissue sample while electroporation protocols are assessed in the laboratory. the setup was implemented and tested with liver tissue samples at two temperature setpoints. Measurements results showed the expected behavior in the electrical properties of the electroporated samples, demonstrating the feasibility of the proposed setup for conducting electroporation measurements while stabilizing its temperature.

A control centric analysis and design of the low drop out (LDO) voltage regulator is presented in this work. the design complexity involving interdependence of regulating loop in frequency domain and the performance parameters for voltage regulator is simplified for intuition by the development of signal flow graph (SFG). A model based on the SFG is developed and tested in Matlab/Simulink environment for a desired time and frequency domain specification. Time domain optimisation for a given steady state accuracy and settling is formulated based on the developed model.

there is a lack of control education at the K-12 level, and introducing high school students to the wide range of control applications and methods needed for these problems will increase the number of students who later plan to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and control research or careers. through our established partnerships with schools in California and Kansas, we have developed educational tools to positively influence the learning and career paths of young high school (HS) students from underserved districts and underrepresented minority (URM) groups. through the development of new curricula, teaching modules, and shared resources that are made broadly available to other school districts, this work has the potential to impact a large number of K-12 teachers and students. We have been working to train HS teachers to create connections between the STEM subjects they teach students with advanced topics, such as artificial intelligence (AI), that are often taught only post-HS. It creates a context where students can see how their STEM skills can be applied and a pathway of continuing STEM education from secondary to post-secondary. As a result, there is the potential to improve student interest and self-efficacy in STEM and to encourage them to pursue STEM careers. Furthermore, AI is key to understanding and making use of data and solving many control problems. We aim to help students learn the fundamentals of how AI algorithms are applied in contemporary neuroscience. Copyright (C) 2022 the Authors.
