the adoption of variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems in commercial and residential buildings is on the rise due to their flexibility and efficiency. Accurate prediction of cooling loads requires a comprehensive understanding of building design and operational parameters, which are subject to various uncertainties that must be considered for reliable results. Conventional practice involves oversized heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to minimize performance uncertainties. However, this approach leads to increased capital and operating expenses, inefficient space utilization, and excessive greenhouse gas emissions. this study presents a framework for assessing the impact of operational and design uncertainties on key performance indicators in Kuwaiti residential buildings with VRF systems, including annual cooling load, total energy consumption, HVAC electricity usage per conditioned floor area, VRF system cost, and the cooling electricity consumption to total energy consumption ratio (R). Additionally, an artificial neural network (ANN)-based model has been developed to predict output parameters for residential buildings. thirteen uncertainty parameters, encompassing building characteristics, occupants, building energy systems, VRF variables, and lighting conditions, were evaluated in the study. the sensitivity analysis of the input uncertainty parameters on the output variables was conducted using various statistical methods. Results from the sensitivity analysis indicate that the cooling set-point has the most significant impact on the energy consumption of residential buildings among the variables examined. © 2023 ASHRAE.

Robotics and computer vision benefit greatly from human–robot and human–computer interaction (HRI). An HCI system based on vision is used to minimize system complexity while controlling the robotic arm and understanding sensory motions. the efficacy of this approach is validated by computational research. the challenges in conditional generative adversarial networks (CGAN) (FER) are optimized by a basic emotion detection technique called facial expression recognition. there are important differences between humans and robots that the FER challenge brings to light. the facial expression factor and generative discriminating representations are simultaneously validated by the use of CGAN. the FER system is used to determine the expression based on results from tests that are both quantitative and qualitative. To extract the required data from a 3D picture, use a 3D integral image display. To minimize inaccuracy, the distance between input photos is compared using Axially Distributed Sensing (ADS). © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

For this article, a hybrid domain multiple access (HDMA)-assisted visible light communication (VLC) system based on transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (TR-RIS) is studied. HDMA is a new multiple access technology enjoying multi-domain signal information, which can effectively improve the system performance by carrying more users' information on the light emitting diodes (LEDs). Contrapose to the problem of multi-LED interference in the system, this paper introduces a transmitting RIS (T-RIS) angle diversity receiver (RADR) model, using the electronically controlled refractive index characteristics of the T-RIS and the angle diversity of the spatial optical signal, which can effectively alleviate interference problem between multiple LEDs. Furthermore, a system optimization model is proposed in this paper. Considering various constraints of the system, an optimization objective is established to maximize the communication capacity by optimizing the power distribution ratio and reflecting RIS (R-RIS) unit. the simulation results show that the proposed scheme can effectively improve the VLC system capacity compared to the existing ones. © 2023 IEEE.

For scenarios of high penetration of renewable energy, it becomes increasingly relevant to improve the dispatchability of supply for wind and solar power plants. Baseload power plants, required to produce a minimum power production at all times, are discussed in this context. the baseload constraint can be satisfied with renewable sources when combined with a storage system but at a high cost. this work studies the design drivers of such a storage system when consisting of short and long-term storage. the capacities of the short-term and long-term storage components are calculated as part of a linear optimization problem with the objective of minimizing the cost of baseload, using a metric based on a net present value formulation. Our analysis, based on 10 locations in Northern Europe, highlights a high sensitivity of optimal storage sizing to storage cost assumptions. In addition, the cost of baseload is found to be correlated to the share of renewable power produced above baseload, but not to the correlation between price and wind power, suggesting arbitrage plays a minor role in the business case. © Energynautics GmbH.

the paper presents a study using solar dryer induced with the forced draught design in combination with closed loop circulation of air and also development of lens and analyzing the performance of the dryer for parching edible fruit in varying climatic conditions of Coimbatore, India. the process comprises of components viz., a chamber for drying, solar air heater in flat plate design with the circulation tubes and a programmable microcontroller. the air flow rate for the process has been determined as 0.2058 kg/s. the usage of solar dryer for drying the edible fruit is found to be effective since it reduces the moisture content from 79% according to wet basis and the finalized wet content in the edible fruit is only around 9.65% in a time period of 24 hours. the efficiency of the dryer is to be averaged around 22%. the moisture specification rate is concluded to be about 0.87 kg/kWh. Establishing a model of modified solar dryer is the main objective of the work. © 2022 IEEE.

the topic of Queuing in the Robot Manufacturing Process is explored in this article. Across a large number of organizations and activities, RPA is making new advantages and liberating staff from repeated monotony. Finance, legal, regulatory, client service, marketing, and IT are just a few of the domains where RPA has been employed by enterprises in industries especially with respect services to healthcare to production to the public organizations to retail and beyond. this is only the start. the robotic process automation (RPA) process includes processes such as candidate identification, assessment, prioritization, design, calibration, and evaluation. the aforesaid manufacturing process is approached in this paper utilizing queueing theory. the queueing attitude specifies the manufacturing error and gives the essential thoughts to be sent out in order to reduce manufacturing process disturbances. In addition, this research use queuing theory to address delays and other issues that may develop during the method. Queues can help discover process inefficiencies and generate solutions for reducing resource waste. All other performance indicators, as well as the queue size probability generating function, are calculated for the selected queue research. the theoretical evaluation of queuing theory in Robotic Process Automation Technology is depicted in a numerical and detailed graphic analysis. © 2022 IEEE.

this brief considers the problem of state estimation for networked control systems with malicious packets drop between controllers and actuators. We firstly take advantage of the statistical characteristics of packets drop to estimate the system state. However, when it is difficulty to obtain the statistical characteristics of packet drops, we transform the uncertain malicious packet drops estimation problem into an unknown input estimation problem, then we design a recursive estimator, in which the unknown input estimator is obtained from the innovation analysis and the state estimate is derived by a procedure which similar to the Kalman filter. Electricity fraud is causing huge losses in both the public and private sectors. the proposition of this paper uses a temporarily controlled learning program to include potential theft data from non-specific data on the existence of multiple sample theft. there are two basic applications, one anticipating the use of power and the other to create a broken application and analysis space. Both are rushing for power protection in creating configuration, redesign, and functionality. Roth’s design catalogue was developed particularly as repository for engineering knowledge also for the early phases of the design process and as a methodological support for the designer. design catalogues are not only a simple collection of known and proven solutions for design problems but allow for structuring and prioritizing solutions according to requirements and development goals. In the current article, a knowledge-based engineering environment is presented that combines a computer aided design catalogue and a case based reasoning system with geometric and analysis models. At the example of dust separators it is shown how Roth’s design catalogue is used to determine the most suitable separation technique and to access component configurators, e.g. for a cyclone separator. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Prior research contends that students who receive entrepreneurial education are more likely to launch their enterprises. Early interventions are lauded to expand students’ options and enable them to build on their knowledge. However, implementing entrepreneurial education in secondary schools is difficult and fraught with challenges. Educators struggle with student engagement, relevant content, and the absence of intuitive tools. Prior research suggests that the challenges centre on students’ attitudes, a paucity of pedagogical resources to meet the specific needs of educators and their students, and systems-related issues. However, it is unclear whether these experiences are uniform in secondary schools across Europe. To uncover the challenges and address potential issues, we conducted a qualitative analysis comprising 29 secondary school teachers in Ireland, Spain, and Turkey. Structured interviews and focus groups were conducted to elicit user experiences, insights and real-world stories. thematic analysis was used to identify the common challenges faced by all participants. Our analysis revealed that systems limitations and pedagogical challenges were the most significant obstacles, followed by students’ attitudes towards entrepreneurial education. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering 2024.
