In low-head pressurized water conveyance systems affected by tidal bore, the influence of tidal bore on the stability of the system is significant. this study focuses on a pumping station located on the Qiantang River to investigate the impact of tidal bore under extreme conditions on hydraulic transients in low-head pressurized water conveyance systems. Tidal bore height and maximum tidal bore velocity are considered as key parameters, and their effects are modelled under extreme conditions in hydraulic transient analysis. Two operational scenarios, including normal operation and pumps shutdown, are simulated. the results indicate that, during normal pump operation, increases in tidal bore height and maximum velocity lead to greater fluctuations in surge tank water level, pump flow fluctuations, and pressure pulsations in the pipeline. In scenarios involving pumps shutdown and gates closure, increases in tidal bore height and maximum velocity result in larger fluctuations in surge tank water level. Additionally, since the gates are closed when pumps shutdown, tidal bore effects have minimal influence on pump flow rates. therefore, the maximum pressure in the middle section of pipeline is primarily controlled by the tidal bore height and maximum flow rate. When tidal bore height is relatively high, maximum pressure occurs rapidly, whereas when maximum tidal bore velocity is high, the increase in maximum pressure occurs slower. this study introduces a method for incorporating tidal bore effects into hydraulic transient calculations, providing valuable insights for project design and construction. It serves as a reference for transient flow analysis in similar low-head pressurized water conveyance systems affected by tidal bore. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

It can be seen from the public opinion monitoring that there are many cases of death and injury caused by quality problems of mechanical products, which poses a serious threat to people's lives. therefore, it is particularly important to analyze the reliability of mechanical products. this study focuses on active adaptive composite fault tolerant controller (ACFTC) design for nonlinear system with actuator fault. Firstly, a novel iterative learning observer (ILO) is proposed to estimate the early potential fault. And then, the ACFTC approach is proposed in order to obtain desired performance in the faulty case based on the fault estimation information from ILO. Finally, simulation of the flexible joint robot system verifies the validity and applicability of the algorithm. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

this paper presents the design and analysis of an ultra-wideband (UWB) Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) structure tailored for spatial filtering and emerging 5G communication systems. the proposed FSS features a nested square-loop design with a central diamond-shaped patch, achieving excellent frequency selectivity and wide operational bandwidth. the structure offers a reflection coefficient (S21) of less than -10 dB across a bandwidth of 4 GHz to 11 GHz, demonstrating its suitability for UWB applications. Furthermore, it exhibits robust angular stability up to 75° and polarization insensitivity, making it adaptable to real-world scenarios. the simulated surface current distribution and S21 characteristics validate multi- resonance behavior, enabling effective electromagnetic performance for advanced wireless technologies. the proposed design holds significant potential for applications in 5G communication systems, antenna radomes, and electromagnetic shielding, offering a promising solution for next-generation spatial filtering. © 2025 IEEE.

Integrating data-driven image processing into animation production is revolutionizing animated content creation. Our qualitative study explores its impact on visual quality, storytelling, and workflow efficiency. Each day, our surroundings are becoming smarter through integration into the Internet of things (IoT) ecosystem. IoT networks demand reliability, seamlessness, and energy efficiency. Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) technologies have emerged as a promising solution to fulfill these IoT requirements. this paper explores Long-Range (LoRa), one of the LPWAN technologies that has garnered significant interest recently, offering low data rates, extended communication range, cost-effectiveness, and minimal power consumption. this work focuses on evaluating the performance of LoRa networks in a suburban environment using the British University in Egypt’s campus as the simulation’s environment. the performance is evaluated in terms of energy consumption, and data extraction rate by simulating three different scenarios using the Framework of LoRa (FLoRa) simulation tool. the first scenario examines the impact of varying certain transmission parameters on the performance of LoRa network. the second scenario evaluates the behavior of the network while increasing the number of nodes. In this structure, a fractal type-based MIMO radiator is designed with a size 55 mm × 30 mm using the substrate of FR-4. the S-parameters of the current design ranging 2.8–4.5 GHz with wider impedance bandwidth 1.7 GHz. the return loss and isolation parameters are − 40 dB and − 42 dB at the resonating frequency. In order to minimizing the isolation among the patches spacing is considered as 3.0 mm. By using, various parametric approaches identified that greater reduction in mutual coupling the element spacing is optimized. the technique of monopole ground plane improved the enhancement in the bandwidth and improve antenna parameters. the MIMO parameters of the proposed system are within the acceptable values to use in real time applications. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

With the increasing complexity, digitization, and informatization of radar equipment, the integrated support systems for such equipment require significant upgrades. Leveraging the Model-Based systems engineering (MBSE) design philosophy and addressing the practical operational and maintenance scenarios of radar equipment, this paper proposes a modeling method for radar equipment integrated support system based on ARCADIA methodology, including operational analysis and system analysis this approach facilitates the co-design of radar integrated support systems and equipment, advancing the transition from experience-based design to model-based system design, thereby enhancing the accuracy and collaboration in radar integrated support system design.

Accurate and reliable traffic flow prediction is of significant importance for alleviating traffic congestion and serves as the foundation for deploying intelligent traffic management systems. Existing traffic flow prediction models often rely on data collected from fixed devices. However, these fixed devices cannot cover the entire traffic network due to high maintenance costs and other reasons. In response to this problem, this paper proposes a short-term traffic flow prediction CNNBILSTM-Attention model optimized based on the sparrow search algorithm. the model utilizes the sparrow search algorithm to search for global optimal advantages, thereby improving the accuracy of the traffic flow prediction model. A case study was conducted using ICV detection data obtained from the simulation of the Huangtian intersection in SUMO. the performance of various models, including LSTM, BiLSTM, CNNBiLSTM, CNNBiLSTM-ATT, and SSA-CNNBiLSTM-ATT, was compared at a 5% penetration rate of intelligent connected vehicles. Experimental calculations yielded the following results: the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) for the above models were 4.78, 4.75, 4.89, 4.69, and 4.66, respectively, while the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) was 6.39, 6.45, 6.26, 6.20 and 5.97, respectively. Additionally, the predictive performance of the model was explored under different penetration rates of intelligent connected vehicles. the analysis revealed that the performance of SSA-CNNBiLSTM-ATT improved with increasing penetration rates of intelligent connected vehicles. the experimental results demonstrate that the performance of the SSA-CNNBILSTM-ATT model is significantly superior to existing models. © 2023 IEEE.

Taking the mining area buildings in Yulin area as the main research object, the annual heat load of the building is calculated. the maximum heat load is 1890 kW, and the domestic heat load is 126 kW. Aiming at the heat load demand, the simulation models of solar series water source heat pump (SA-WSHP) and solar parallel air source heat pump (SA-ASHP) system are established by TRNSYS software, and their performance is compared and analyzed. the feasibility of solar collector plate, water source heat pump, air source heat pump, water tank and other components is verified by experiments, and the water supply and return temperature, heating performance, heat supply and power consumption of the two systems are compared. the results show that the supply and return water temperature and COP of the solar series water source heat pump system are relatively stable, and the energy consumption is reduced by 48.7%. the heating of Yulin mining area shows that the solar energy series water source heat pump system is more efficient and energy saving. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

To obtain the historical travel time and space trajectories of public transportation (PT) passengers and analyze the characteristics and patterns of their trips and activities, the PT trip-chain modeling and analysis methods are studied. the mathematical expression and attribute classification of the PT trip-chain model are given, the theoretical framework of applying multi-source big data to build the PT trip-chain model is proposed, and the trip-chain method is applied to judge the bus passengers' alighting stops, the transfer behavior is judged by calculating the reasonable transfer time of passengers' two consecutive trips. the PT trip-chain model is constructed by integrating passengers' travel spatio-temporal information, and the PT travel is systematically summarized. the analysis contents of group and individual characteristics are summarized systematically. the proposed modeling and analysis methods are experimented and validated by applying large-scale actual data. the results show that the PT trip-chain model establishes a basis for systematically analyzing the travel characteristics and patterns of passengers, which can provide a scientific basis for the planning and management of PT systems. © 2023 SPIE.
