Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has become an essential topic in most of the modern societies due to critical importance of economic and human losses caused by occurring damage. To avoid any catastrophic event such as partial and global collapse in vital civil structures, many data-based methods under the concepts of artificial intelligence and machine learning using various types of sensing technologies have been proposed and developed. the main objective of such techniques is to learn a computational or statistical model/machine by using sufficient training data during a fixed training period in an offline or batch learning manner. On this basis, in the learning process, one assumes that the training period is sufficiently long to capture all possible environmental and/or operational variations and no damage occurs. However, these assumptions may be problematics due to some major limitations. First, there is no guarantee that new measured data out of the training time has the same variability condition during the learning process. Second, it is illogical to suppose that the structure does not suffer from damage within a long monitoring process. On the other hand, SHM via Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images from the remote sensing technology has become popular among civil engineers. However, an SAR-based SHM strategy itself contains major challenges that should be dealt with. Due to some limitations in SAR images, most of the SHM projects via this technology incorporate a few images, even in long-term monitoring. On the other hand, the majority of research studies in this category is based on directly analyzing displacement samples extracted from SAR images. Under such circumstances, the process of health monitoring of a complex and vital civil structure may not lead to reasonable consequences owing to considering insufficient small displacement data from SAR images and direct data analysis. design analysis has become an essential tool to ensure the outcome of the biomechanical harvesting device met the expected goal. Biomechanical energy harvesting has become a prominent research topic to substitute the huge and heavy commercialized batteries. Hence, a lot of limitations and challenges faced during the design stage of harvesting device. the major considerations are on the increased metabolic rate to carry the device and the electrical power harvested in given duration. the additional effort needed to carry the device at different joint locations is essential in ergonomics and it's a key factor to design wearable device. analysis was carried out to derive the scope of human's metabolic rate with the motion speed and walking duration. this paper discusses the outcome which shows that longer duration with higher speed and lower device mass is essential for better performance.

When producing a tender, contractors manually analyze client requirements contained within many different text documents. the combination of requirements lead to crucial design decisions and every decision is related to costs and risks. this study explores the possibility of making the client requirement analysis in design-bid contracts automated to reduce the risk of conceptual design mistakes. the research approach chosen includes developing a work support tool based on natural language processing and evaluating its usefulness through a combination of surveys and a workshop for tendering specialist. the results show that applying digitalized working methods and using artificial intelligence in the tender phase can enable datainformed decision making and generate benchmarking and risk management opportunities.

In recent years, the environmental impact of low-frequency noise in substations has gradually received attention. In response to the problem of low-frequency noise, this paper prepared anacoustic metamaterial muffler with the periodic structure through acoustic analysis and structural design. theoretical calculation and experimental analysis show that with the number of periodic cavities in the muffler increases, the Aweighted insertion loss of the muffler increases from 6.9 dB to 10.6 dB, and the average insertion loss of the octave band increases from 5.7 dB to 9.8 dB. the low-frequency noise reduction effect is significantly improvedin this research, which will provide important reference for the theoretical calculation, engineering design, and substation noise reduction application of acoustic metamaterial mufflers.

SOC consensus control and analysis based on specified sampled-data for large-scale energy storage system

In large-scale energy storage system, the large number of energy storage units leads to inconsistent of State of Charge and unbalanced sharing of output power. In order to solve this problem, a consensus control protocol design and analysis method based on specified sampled-data is proposed. the consensus of SOC and output power (normalization) of each energy storage unit in large-scale energy storage system has been achieved. Firstly, according to the definition of lithium battery SOC and discharge mechanism, a system model of large-scale energy storage system is established. Based on specified sampled-data control, consensus control protocol of multi-agent of energy storage units is designed, and system convergence analysis is carried out. Meantime, the constraints of sampling period T are derived. It is proved that local energy storage unit agent can generate local energy storage unit control signal only when it receives the state information of adjacency energy storage unit agent at a specified sampling time point. In this way, the problem of too much computation caused by the complex communication of large-scale energy storage system is solved. Considering specified sampled-data control and system requirements, the system control parameters are designed. this method is simple in control and takes up less system communication resources. To study the impact of coupling systems between urban infrastructures with the power system at the core on strategies for enhancing urban power grid resilience, this research proposed strategies for enhancing urban power grid resilience in the face of extreme event disruptions. these strategies focused on the coupling systems of the power system with communication systems, transportation systems, natural gas systems, petroleum systems, and water supply systems. the study analyzed the coupling relationships between the power system and other urban infrastructures. Based on the analysis of time scales and coupling relationships, it proposed measures to enhance urban power grid resilience. Additionally, it identified critical users of the urban power grid and established an urban power grid system analysis model. Finally, through differential strengthening of urban power grid users, the study formulated strategies to improve the resilience of the urban power grid. these strategies could provide valuable reference points for decision-makers in systematically enhancing the resilience of urban power grids.

For new energy and DC to replace a large number of conventional units, the system's moment of inertia is reduced, and the burden of traditional frequency modulation method is increased. In this paper, VSG inertia and damping coefficient adaptive strategy is designed, and the adaptive parameters are adjusted. According to the characteristics of the wind storage system based on three dynamic frequency indexes, the day-ahead scheduling control strategy is designed, and the adjustable standby capacity of the wind storage system is obtained. Finally, when the frequency deviation exceeds the threshold value, real-time scheduling analysis of frequency parameters, considering three frequency dynamic indicators, the frequency adjustment coefficient and frequency modulation capacity of each part of the Wind energy storage system are optimized, and the optimal allocation results are obtained. In IEEE4 computer system, the adaptive inertia forward-real-time scheduling control strategy designed in this paper is compared with other frequency control strategies, and the superiority of the proposed strategy is verified. © 2024 SPIE.

Recently, designers favored thin-walled steel sections due to their high structural efficiency and thus their high economic privilege over hot-rolled sections. However, these slender sections suffer from buckling failure which puts some constraints on the use of these sections. Direct Strength method is a recently adopted design approach that requires no effective section calculations. Instead, it depends on performing buckling analysis on members using numerical analysis methods. A newly verified analysis program (OpenFSM) developed by the authors that conducts buckling analysis using the finite strip method is introduced. It offers an alternative analysis tool with an easier interface including features that can facilitate the design process and offer more potential for conducting parametric studies and research projects. OpenFSM is utilized to investigate the behavior of the widely used hat cold-formed steel members. Moreover, several important observations are deducted. Also, equations governing local buckling stress of hat-shaped members are presented.

Most of the traditional studies on consecutive k-out-of-n: F systems assume that each component in the system is independent, and some recent studies have studied the reliability model of consecutive k-out-of-n: F systems with local load sharing characteristics between components. In this paper, a reliability model of the consecutive k-out-of-n: F systems considering both local load sharing and boundary effects is established. When a component fails from the middle of the system, the load shared by the failed component will be equally distributed to the two adjacent components, while the load of the other components is less affected. When a component fails from the starting point of the system, the load shared by the failed component is fully distributed to the adjacent component. As a result, the degradation rate of each component in the system (dependent on the load of the component) will become different when considering this new dependence, which makes the failure path of the system more complex. Taking the bolt system of civil aircraft as an example, this work uses the numerical analysis method to explore the fault propagation law of the consecutive k-out-of-n: F systems with this new dependence. the results show that reliability of the consecutive k-out-of-n: F systems is closely related to the choice of the failure criterion k value when the new dependence is considered. © 2025 IEEE.

this research offers an advanced numerical simulation utilizing the finite element technique to study in detail the dynamic behavior of horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) blades. the 3D Finite Element model developed is intended to comprehensively examine the interactions among different operating conditions, such as material type and thickness, that impact the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the NREL offshore wind turbine blade (5 MW). this investigation involved an intensive examination of four distinct blade thickness values (20 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm and 50 mm), in conjunction with an assessment of how each material (Composite, Titanium Alloy, Aluminium 2024 and Aluminium alloy) affects dynamic response. Notably, the study revealed that blade thickness emerged as a prominent factor affecting wind blade dynamics, with natural frequency increases of over 15% observed as blade thickness varied. these findings provide crucial insight into the complex behavior of wind turbine blades and can pave the way towards optimized designs and improved performances of wind energy systems. © 2023 IEEE.
