the paper presents the results of the analysis of the economic curves of overhead power lines with subsequent justification of the design of the power line. In the paper, economic curves are constructed for a line with a rated voltage of 750 kV. the cross-sections, the use of which is justified depending on the transmitted power, are determined. the analysis of the influence of design parameters on the occurrence of resonant overvoltages in non-sinusoidal overvoltages has been carried out. three-dimensional graphs of dependences of overvoltage values on changes in the distance between phases and split wires are constructed. © 2022 IEEE.

In underground pipeline engineering, shaft jacking and reverse construction have become a vital construction method often selected by engineers because of their advantages of less disturbance to the surrounding environment. the design method is still too conservative compared to the traditional foundation pit support design. the key lies in the unclear grasp of the soil pressure change law of the supporting structure in the construction process and the unclear critical design height. therefore, based on Terzaghi 's loose earth pressure theory, the calculation formula of loose earth pressure at any depth of the reverse construction shaft considering the inclined slip surface is given, and the theoretical method of the critical height of excavation during the construction period of the shaft wall of the reverse construction method is proposed. the research results of this paper are helpful for engineers in mastering the critical technical scheme of foundation pit support design and construction, which has significant theoretical and engineering application value.

the Braille printer is a revolutionary assistive technology designed to efficiently cater to the needs of the visually impaired. It converts digital text and graphics into embossed Braille, granting easy access to printed materials. With advanced features like high-quality embossing, user-friendly interfaces, seamless connectivity, and support for tactile graphics, this state-of-the-Art Braille printer significantly improves the quality of life and opportunities for visually impaired individuals. this paper presents a simple, low-cost, and easy-To-operate Braille printer, developed through a comprehensive review of relevant literature and an exploration of its design and development process. the printer head is constructed using an Electromagnet mechanism, the movements of the printer axis are driven by the stepper motors, and the main processing unit is an Arduino board. the printer's performance is appraised through expert opinion in the field of Braille text. © 2023 IEEE.

Radio over Fiber (RoF) is an exotic technology for next-generation wireless networks, including fifth-generation Cloud-Radio Access Networks (C-RAN). In this paper, we propose a fronthaul interface, demonstrated through numerical simulations, for two wireless signal channels in the VHF frequency band using DPSK and CPFSK modulation schemes without needing to use forward error correction coding over a standard single-mode optical fiber span of 20 km. the proposed method is capable of efficiently supporting a high bandwidth of the optical fiber link up to 2.8 Gbps while maintaining a bit error rate (BER) less than 10-9. Performance analysises have been demonstrated by the numerical simulation for the proposed digital RoF technique. Notably, the performance evaluation of two channels with two advanced digital modulation methods is reported through the analysis of quality parameters, including eye diagrams and signal-To-noise ratio. It is indicated that digital optical links can support long-distance transmission of over 20 km with low-level power laser transmitters without the need for the dispersion compensation process, meeting the requirements of wideband C-RAN systems. © 2023 IEEE.

this study presents the design, and analysis of an H-shaped patch antenna, tailored for C-band applications. the proposed antenna is optimized to operate within the frequency range of 4–8 GHz, targeting communications, and satellite systems. the H-shaped patch geometry is constructed using FR-4 (lossy) with a thickness of 1.6mm. Simulated results and the tested results demonstrate excellent performance characteristics, including a -30.29dB of return loss, stable radiation patterns (Omnidirectional patterns), and radiation efficiency in simulation and -21.53dB of return loss, and bandwidth of 589.2 MHz attained, while tested. the compact and efficient design makes it a promising candidate for various C-band applications, offering improved signal reception and transmission capabilities in modern communication systems. © 2024 the Author(s).

this work provides investigation on time variability and correlation analysis of a Norwegian wind power plant, which is going to be integrated with solar photovoltaic power plant. this design study of Norwegian Smola Wind Power Plant is investigating the time variability and correlation analysis. the real operational data of wind power plants and simulated solar photovoltaic power plant data will be analyzed further considering connected power line capacities for investigating the photovoltaic hosting capacity, curtailment and potential for identifying increased capacity of the connected power line. this work will be useful for doing the correlation analysis for solar photovoltaic with wind power plants connected to the grid through common power line, and finding appropriate energy storage. the presented results will be very useful for power system operator for balancing the intermittency of power outputs through dispatchable power generation sources. the typical scenarios are investigated for utilizing the maximum capacity of the common power lines and to minimize the potential curtailments of the renewable energy sources. © 2023 University of Split, FESB.

the automatic description of the content of an image is a challenge that combines computer vision with natural language processing in the field of artificial intelligence. Most existing models have limitations in accurately identifying subtle elements of an image and counting the number of people present. To address this challenge, we introduce the natural-language scene description network (NSDN), which incorporates recent developments in computer vision and machine translation to generate descriptive phrases that effectively depict images. this technology has the potential to improve the efficiency, capacity, reliability, and safety of crowd management tasks, particularly in diverse and adaptive crowd situations. Despite challenges such as clutter, occlusion, non-uniform object scale, and irregular object distribution, YOLO shows promise for intelligent crowd counting and analysis in images. this article reviews, categorizes, analyzes distinguishing features, and extensively assesses the effectiveness of crowd-counting methods that rely on convolutional neural networks and provides a detailed analysis of their performance. © the Author(s).

the optimal design of a train scheduling scheme has been a focal point of research within the train dispatching domain. Given that the operation of the train is affected by multiple uncertain factors, this paper integrates digital twin technology into train simulation, adopts a physical train model as the foundation, and utilizes a virtual layer model approach. Based on a five-dimensional digital twin framework, the digital twin model of train simulation operation is constructed from three levels of elements, behaviors, and rules. Furthermore, a Gaussian process regression method is employed to perform in-depth machine learning on original training data, generating more precise driving data, which can be used to simulate train operations. Additionally, various charts are provided to facilitate real-time visualization of the simulation results. theoretical analysis and experimental validation demonstrate the accuracy and usability of the proposed model, which exhibits high engineering application value and provides scientific support for optimizing train scheduling schemes. © 2024 IEEE.

Omnidirectional vehicles (ODVs) or mobile robots are widely used in various industries due to their ability to move and rotate in narrow spaces without the need for multiple adjustments of moving direction or stopping. there are multiple types of ODVs, including those with standard wheels and those with special wheels such as Swedish wheels. Comprehensive characterization of the ODV's overall performance, which is very important when selecting specific configurations in the robot design process, is still missing in the literature. this paper qualitatively summarizes the comprehensive characteristics of three typical omnidirectional mobile robots in indoor scenarios through theoretical analysis and physical experiments. We compare the robot's performance through six representative evaluation metrics (maneuverability, efficiency, etc.) and express the results in a radar chart. the results of this study can assist designers in designing omnidirectional robots more effectively for specific application scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.
