this study presents a novel approach to style recognition and transformation in modern architectural images. In the era of digital art, the demand for efficient creation of high-quality digital images has led to the emergence of style transfer technology. However, existing methods face challenges when processing images with complex semantic information, such as architectural scenes. this research proposes a deep learning-based solution to accurately identify and extract semantic regions within images, enabling more refined style transfer. the methodology involves efficient image feature extraction using a simplified ResNet50 network with a feature extraction module, followed by a transformation process that maintains style consistency across regions while accounting for stylistic variations. A comprehensive loss function, including content, style, and regularization terms, guides the style transfer process. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in preserving image semantics and improving style transfer quality. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

this project employs the Infineon TC387 microcontroller as the main control unit for an intelligent vehicle, integrating it with the IR2104 motor driver for enhanced performance. Additionally, it incorporates a camera system for real-time racetrack perception, facilitating the strategic planning of the vehicle’s travel path. the vehicle’s tracking is meticulously managed through a sophisticated cascaded PID controller. During its operation, the project utilizes encoders for precise velocity detection, establishing a robust speed closed-loop control system. this is complemented by the acquisition of posture data via a gyroscope, enabling accurate angle closed-loop control, which is pivotal for the rapid and efficient tracking capabilities of the vehicle. Furthermore, the project innovatively employs supercapacitor groups as a dynamic energy storage solution, with an LCC network meticulously designed for the efficient compensation and charging of these supercapacitors. A significant aspect of the vehicle’s trajectory planning involves a detailed analysis and strategic implementation of mid-race track charging stops, which serves as a critical control segment. this approach ensures the vehicle’s comprehensive control and operational efficiency, highlighting the project’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies for enhanced vehicle autonomy and performance. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Our project involves an interface that can identify various food items in real time from an image or video of multi-object meals, and provide the user with relevant information such as recipes, ingredients, and nearby restaurants serving the identified dish. Our work is divided into two parts: First, we utilize YOLO V5, an advanced object detection technique, to build a machine-learning model with an average accuracy of over 80% that can concurrently recognize and localize several items. Secondly, we integrate our model into an interface that also includes additional features such as a restaurant finder and ingredient/recipe analysis. By processing the model output on the interface side, we can display detection results in real time, including the class label and bounding box position and further recommend the recipes or the restaurants around them that serve that cuisine using an API. Hence, users can try new foods while also educating themselves about the cultures behind these cuisines. © the Author(s).

In the fluid transmission control system, the control valve is used to control the movement and speed of the actuator by manipulating the flow direction, pressure and flow rate of the fluid. the spool valve utilises the relative movement of the spool and the valve body to turn on and off the oil circuit, or change the direction of the fluid flow. the actuator can then be started, stopped or reversed. In this work, the control characteristics of the pressure flow were investigated based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD). By simulating the three-dimensional flow field, the pressure-flow characteristics were analysed at different valve port openings. the design of the valve was optimized to avoid the cavitation phenomenon at the valve port. this work provides a theoretical basis for the research, development and optimization of multi-way valves and the performance improvement of hydraulic systems.

Portable air screw compressors are the most reliable, effective, and well-suited for the unique needs of building roads, performing restoration work, conducting civil engineering, mining, sandblasting, oil and gas exploration etc. this compressors must be designed to withstand tough site circumstances and difficult-to-reach site locations that may have challenging topography. Compressed air at remote locations is also used to power tools on the site, such as power hammers, drills, saws, wrenches, nail guns etc. these portable compressors are exposed to higher load such as dynamic load, lifting/towing load and random vibration load during their operation such as towing/lifting and transportation from one location to another. Fatigue life, stability and performance of majority of the structures and systems depend significantly on dynamic loadings applied on them. In order to guarantee effective product performance without trolley base frame failure over product life, it is crucial to examine the structural strength of the compressor base frame under such dynamic loading scenarios. Ingersoll Rand India is equipped a portable compressor unit using cutting-edge technology to meet the requirements of the business. the Modal and random vibration analysis of the portable compressor trolley base frame has been analyzed in the current study to evaluate the compressor trolley base frame. To verify dynamically, the unit's Natural Frequency has been computed using modal analysis. According to SAE J 2380 standard, random vibration analysis has been performed to examine the base frame's strength and its fatigue life against random loading for 92.6 hours of testing duration. Successful validation of a given equipment implies 100000 miles of life with 90% success probability without any random vibration fatigue failure. In this era, the teaching and learning process has been transformed into a creative learning environment by applying new technologies and innovative learning to support the teaching and learning process for strengthing the quality of education. this research aims to increase the efficiency of teaching and learning strategies on a modern management course's system analysis and design topic by providing students with the knowledge and ability to apply theory for solving problems in various contexts. It is a perspective to change the teaching and learning style to a more active learning approach by adjusting the classroom learning style to a collaborative learning approach. this allows students to work in groups instead of listening to the lecture from instructors;it also encourages them to brainstorm by exchanging their ideas with their classmates. It could turn the lecturer into a mentor for observing and advising students during learning activities. Besides, changing the learning style to the flipped classroom approach encourages the students to learn lessons before attending the class, regardless of time and place. Each student can learn lessons in a suitable environment for them, and they can spend more or less time for studying depending on their proficiency level. this approach will allow students to have more confidence to participate in collaborative learning once they have a good understanding of the lesson. this research was conducted with 115 undergraduate students enrolling in the system analysis and design course. the two-way MANDVA test was performed to determine whether gender and learning behavior (self-learning and group learning) impact students' intrinsic motivation, self-determination, and self-efficacy motivation in a collaborative learning-based flipped classroom environment. © 2023 IEEE.

Fiber-reinforced polymer composite laminate has a wide range of applications due to its high strength-to-weight ratio. Fatigue loading is the most common cause of failure for these materials. Fatigue life estimation in symmetric ply composite laminate under cyclic mechanical loading is performed in this work. the analysis is performed for various laminate schemes such as [0°/15°]s, [0°/30°]s, [0°/45°]s, and [0°/60°]s. For each laminate scheme, several discontinuities, such as edge cracks, multiple holes, and multiple minor cracks, are considered for detailed numerical analysis. Higher-order XFEM is used to analyze fracture behavior. Higher-order XFEM employs a tenfold higher-order crack tip enrichment function instead of fourfold enrichment function for improving solution accuracy. the performance of higher-order XFEM is demonstrated in few numerical examples in which the fatigue life curve is compared for different symmetric ply composite laminates. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

An increase in traffic crashes can be attributed to inconsistencies in roadway geometry. the operating speed model is a statistical tool to evaluate geometric design consistency. this paper explores the relationship between radius, gradient, sight distance parameters, extra widening, and operating speeds at two-lane two-way non-urban roads in India. Data of 107 curves and 107 tangents with horizontal within crest curve combinations were selected. Correlation analysis was done to find the significant geometric variable affecting the operating speed of vehicles. Using these significant variables, operating speed models were developed using a mixed effect modeling approach for different classes of vehicles. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

this study presents a scientometric review conducted to define and delineate utilization of embedded systems in construction project delivery. this was done with the view of providing directions for future studies as well as stimulating a wider debate among construction stakeholders on the use of embedded systems in the industry. the study adopted an interpretivist philosophical view using an inductive approach and a grounded theory strategy. the data used were secondary in nature and were gathered from the Scopus database using specific related keywords. Co-occurrence maps were further created based on the bibliographic data gathered using the VOSviewer text mining software. three clusters of co-occurring keywords were formed from the analysis, and these are labelled as sensor network systems and models, real-time systems and designs, and construction process automation. the study opens a new vista in the deliberations of the studies on technological innovations in the built environment. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
