Modern military aircraft engines are designed for high thrust, low specific fuel consumption, small engine size, and high thrust-to-weight ratio. Afterburner is a thrust augmentation device that is used in all modern military aircraft engines. Afterburners are required for aircrafts to take- off from short runways with heavy payloads and to perform combat manoeuvres. Light up and flame stabilization are the key requirements for any afterburner design. From the literature review, V-gutters are known to be the best flame holding devices based on the blockage, flame spread and combustion stability criteria. For the fifth-generation aero engines, the gas temperature at the entry of the afterburner system is higher than the V-gutter material's allowable limit. Typical turbine entry gas temperatures are of order of 1850 K and reduces to a value of 1100 K at afterburner inlet which necessitates cooling of the V-gutter structure. Uncooled or bare v-gutters are prone to oxidation and damage due to thermal fatigue. the cooling of v-gutter helps to prevent the oxidation and improve the life. In this work, various cooling design configurations for the given V-gutter have been investigated using jet impingement and film cooling techniques. this study aims to develop a cooling arrangement to reduce the average uncooled V-gutter metal temperature from 950 K to less than 750 K by using the bypass air at 3 bar pressure and 550 K temperature. the corresponding average cooling effectiveness of 0.5 is to be achieved. the design of experiments (DOE) methods used for computational studies like Monte Carlo and Montgomery to validate and analyse the designs are computationally intensive and time consuming. Hence, a parametric approach is used for optimization of cooling flow design to achieve the desired temperatures and cooling effectiveness. this research paper focuses on the statistical analysis of cutting parameters: axial depth, radial depth, and feed per tooth on the top burr formation in the down milling of Ti–6Al–4V alloy. analysis of variance (ANOVA) has been used to find the main parameters influencing the top burr formation in down milling. It was observed that axial depth of cut (contribution 60.07%) remains the most significant factor followed by the radial depth of cut (27.27%) and feed per tooth (5.90%) influencing top burr width. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In order to satisfy the demand for large planar workspace and lightweight in ship side painting, we designed a cable-driven parallel robot (CDPR) with parallel cables powered by a common drive unit considering easy deployment and structural simplicity. Different parallel cables and the effects of cable numbers are discussed. Based on the analysis, typical configurations of parallel cables are proposed, and the configuration of the CDPR for ship side painting is deduced, which has two translational degrees of freedom (DOF), and all three rotational DOFs are constrained. Kinematic and static modeling are executed, and dimensional optimization is carried out with the goal of maximizing the workspace. Workspace coverage rate of 88% is achieved with a 30m×20m vertical area. © 2023 IEEE.

A discrete fiber and a multi-level model for the analysis of SFRC structures are used to assess the influence of the chosen fiber type, content, and orientation on the structural response. Computational simulation of the flow process of fresh FRC, including applications to 3D printing, is performed to analyse the effect of fiber orientation on the the crack bridging behavior of the SFRC in the hardened state. Finally, the prospects of applying a multi-level FRC model in conjunction with methods of optimization to design an SFRC tunnel lining segment are discussed.

In a medium and low speed maglev train, the linear induction motor (LIM) is employed as the traction motor, during operation its vibration characteristics correlate with the dynamic performance and noise radiation characteristics of the train. this paper conducted tests and established a three-dimensional simulation model of the LIM in a medium and low speed maglev train, to study the motor vibration characteristics by comparative analysis between test and simulation. the analysis results showed that the electromagnetic excitation sources of the train appear in the high-frequency band, with the main characteristic frequencies of 497.33 Hz, 994.33 Hz, 1989.00 Hz, and 3977.67 Hz. the structural modal analysis and vibration harmonic response analysis of the motor showed that the 3rd, 8th, and 18th modal frequencies of the motor structure approximate the frequencies of the electromagnetic excitation sources. As a result, the motor generates resonance at 497.33 Hz and 994.33 Hz under that excitation. the validity of the simulation was confirmed by the corresponding tests. From the perspective of theory, experiment, and simulation, this research can contribute to the optimization of traction systems in the future design of medium and low speed maglev trains. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. With the rapid development of the method of shield tunnel in our country, the shield in the tunnel and the internal structure exist a lot of prefabricated and assembled internal structure can be roughly divided into full cast-in-place, full precast, and precast and cast-in-place structure. However, it has the disadvantages of more internal structural joints, poor waterproof performance, and complex structural stress. therefore, combined with the actual engineering case, the construction process is simulated by using the finite element analysis software, and the influence of the segmental and internal structure cooperative deformation and joint mechanical performance is considered to further analyze the deformation characteristics of shield tunnel assembly internal structure, which can provide a reference for the construction and design of similar projects.

One of the practicum learning facilities and media is to use props or trainers. In learning the protection system course at the electrical engineering department of Universitas Negeri Malang, learning only partially uses practicum-based learning methods due to limited supporting learning media. therefore, this study aims to design, develop, and determine the feasibility level of load-shedding trainers as learning media for protection systems courses for students of the Electrical engineering Department, Universitas Negeri Malang. this study uses the development model which includes 10 stages of the procedure. the data collection method used instruments in the form of a questionnaire and the validation stage was carried out by two media experts, while product trials were carried out on 10 students and usage trials were carried out on 30 students. the data analysis technique of this research uses descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative data analysis techniques. the results of this study are in the form of learning media for load-shedding trainers equipped with job sheets. the validation results of the media expert 1 get 91.67% and the validation results of the media expert 2 get 89.58% so they are considered very valid and feasible. the results of the product trials conducted on 10 students obtained a percentage of 94.64% which was categorized as very feasible, and the results of the usage trials conducted on 30 students obtained a percentage of 93.21% which was categorized as very feasible. Based on the results of the media expert's assessment, product trials, and usage trials, the load-shedding trainer is suitable for use as a learning media for the subject of protection systems in the electrical engineering department, at Universitas Negeri Malang. © 2023 IEEE.

Excessive exposure to wood dust can cause serious health problems. the aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the cutter shape and wood species on airborne wood dust concentration during chainsaw cross-cutting operations. Inhalable and respirable wood dust mass concentrations were measured using a real-time aerosol monitor DustTrak DRX. Statistical analysis was based on the Scheirer-Ray-Hare test. the results of this study indicate that both examined factors have a significant influence on respirable fraction of the wood dust mass concentration. © 2022 TAE 2022 - Proceeding of the 8th International conference on Trends in Agricultural engineering 2022. the Solar Upper Transition Region Imager (SUTRI) is an extreme ultraviolet solar imaging telescope that focuses on dynamically observing the solar transition region within a narrow band at 46.5nm. this paper describes the optical parameters, optomechanical structural design, finite element simulation, and on-ground environmental testing. To satisfy the narrow band requirement, the telescope employs multilayers coated on Ritchey-Chrétien optics and filters mounted at the front aperture and ahead of the focal plane. the primary and secondary mirrors are glued to invar frames that provide peripheral support. the telescope contains three mechanisms, which are a focus mechanism, a filter wheel, and a front door. In addition, this paper carried out finite element simulation of modal analysis, optical performance and structural strength. these simulations verified that the opto-mechanical system design is feasible. Finally, the telescope successfully underwent a series of on-ground environmental testing and was subsequently launched carried by SATech-01 satellite in July 2022. © COPYRIGHT SPIE.

Extradosed cable-stayed bridge which is featured in beautiful shape, distinctive structural characteristics and the dual advantages of girder and cable-stayed bridge, is vigorously developed in the world in recent years. Despite the fact that there are extensive researches concerning on extradosed cable-stayed bridges in the world, but most of them almost focus on the linear extradosed cablestayed bridge, while the research on Curved Extradosed Cable-Stayed bridge is rarely involved. this paper outlines the current research status and development of Curved Extradosed Cable-Stayed bridges, analyzes and discusses the proportion of load sharing of extradosed cable-stayed bridge, and proposes a formula for the load sharing proportion of curved extradosed cable-stayed bridge. Taking the Loong River Bridge as an engineering example, a finite element analysis model is established to analyze the influencing factors of the load sharing proportion of curved extradosed cable-stayed bridge. Five structural parameters are mainly selected for comparative analysis, including main girder stiffness, prestressing in the main girder, cross-sectional area of the stay cable, main tower stiffness, and main tower height. the paper compares and analyzes the effects of variations in these five structural parameters on the structural performance of Curved Extradosed Cable-Stayed bridges, and obtains the sensitivity laws of the main girder, main tower, stay cables, and main piers to variations in these five structural parameters. therefore, the research on the structural behavior and structural design of Curved Extradosed Cable-Stayed bridge is not only favorable for expanding the scope of application of extradosed cable-stayed bridge, but also favorable for providing technical supports to the design and construction of curved extradosed cable-stayed bridge.
