the proposed research was focused on the development of a personalized wrist orthosis using PTC Creo for design and FDM technology for manufacturing. the innovation in this approach is the production of the orthosis in an unfolded state, which allows for faster and more efficient production with a lower risk of orthosis breakage due to insufficient adhesion of the layers. the design utilizes a 2.5D Octagonal lattice structure of 40 x 40 mm, rotated by 40 degrees, which contributes to the lightweight of the orthosis while maintaining its strength. Printing the orthosis in its unfolded state also significantly shortened the orthosis fabrication process by 47.78% compared to standard printing oriented normal to the build plate. After the physical model was fabricated, the orthosis was heated above glass transition temperature for 60 s and then formed directly onto the patient's hand, which took approximately 10 s. this forming process was considered simple and intuitive, as well as comfortable. the orthosis provided sufficient strength and the comfort of wearing it was positively assessed. Findings indicated increased orthosis integrity when printing in the unfolded state, a significant improvement over standard FDM printing. the benefits are innovative design, improved efficiency of the manufacturing process, and increased quality and wearing comfort of the brace. Suggested future research includes testing the durability of the brace with different thicknesses, comparing it with FEA analysis, and exploring the potential of using different materials and other types of lattice structures.

the display console and vehicle platform designed in this paper adopt an integrated structure design, the structure is simple and beautiful, easy to operate and easy to maintain, and the standard function module is selected as far as possible to meet the standardization requirements. Based on the design idea of generalization, serialization and combination, the display console is divided into unit design, which can be successively divided into: display unit, control unit, display and control processing unit and cabinet unit. Among them, the display unit and control unit learn from the mature design technology to ensure the design quality;the display and control processing unit is designed separately, with rigid connections to both the display unit and control unit externally, and the internal air duct is set up to meet the heat dissipation requirements. the cabinet unit is arranged under the display and control processing unit and the two are rigidly connected to ensure the overall structural rigidity and provide required installation space for user devices. the display console adopts split designs to support quick installation, disassembly and handling of four units. 3D design software is used to analyse the installation space, visual field, hand operation space, knee space and maintenance space of the display console to ensure that the display console has a good human–computer interaction function. the internal space of the display console is designed with three-dimensional wiring, the routing path of each cable in each unit is planned, and the cable can be customized in advance, which greatly improves the efficiency of on-site electrical assembly. Mechanical analysis software is used to simulate the main structure of the display console to ensure that the whole display console meets the mechanical performance requirements. the above design and analysis have certain guiding significance for similar design work of vehicle display console. © the Author(s) 2024.

Water environment is the basis for human survival. Accurate assessment of water environment quality is of great significance for sustainable development. Based on the water quality monitoring data of 34 monitoring points in the Xiangjiang River Basin in the past 10 years, the water quality index data set was constructed. After data cleaning, the comprehensive water quality index identification method, clustering, M-K trend analysis and other technical methods were used to analyse the water quality changes of Xiangjiang River from 2013 to 2023. the experimental results show that in recent years, the concentration of ammonia nitrogen index has a significant downward trend;from the analysis based on time hierarchical clustering, it can be seen that the water quality change in Xiangjiang River Basin has obvious seasonal characteristics. © 2025 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

the role of co-simulation in dual-CPU power supply systems is very important, but there are problems with unreasonable design. Manual simulation cannot solve circuit parameter and power integrity problems, and the synergy rate is low. therefore, this paper proposes a co-simulation technology to construct an optimization model. First, circuit knowledge is used to design circuit parameters, design according to power integrity standards, and realize power synergy Processing. then, the circuit collection is formed by co-simulation technology, and the co-simulation process is optimized. MATLAB simulation shows that the analysis accuracy and co-simulation time of co-simulation technology are better than those of manual simulation technology under certain power requirements. © 2024, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) are a novel class of polymer networks with tunable, anisotropic mechanical properties that can be programmed through applied strain, and have demonstrated advantages for actuation, energy absorption and reconfigurable microstructures. Uniaxial tensile strain is often applied to polydomain LCE systems to achieve monodomain director orientations and program new, spatially uniform material properties. In this study, we investigate the ability to embed non-uniform LCE stiffness distributions by harnessing the spatially varying strain fields of post-buckled beam deformations. We demonstrate the post-buckling-based strain programming with a class of tilted, bistable beams that have utility in a range of architected materials. the behavior of these strain-programmed structures is evaluated with a finite element analysis with spatially varying mechanical properties by scaling the shear modulus in a elementwise fashion within a Neo-Hookean material model. A parameter sweep of beam geometry and loading conditions revealed relationships between beam geometry, LCE programming, and the resulting effects on postbuckled shape of the beam during buckling. In particular, the study highlights that while geometry is a dominant factor for buckling behavior, transition points exist in this beam design space where modest, non-uniform changes in stiffness distribution can switch the direction of buckling. Collectively, the study motivates the exploration of alternative strain-to-stiffness map- pings to amplify this effect of non-uniform stiffness programming, and the development of experimental systems to validate this buckling-based, strain programming concept.

A fast sequencing genetic algorithm, NSGA-II is applied to the performance optimization of axial flow electric fans on multi eletric aircraft to improve the effectiveness of environmental control systems (ECS) and reduce fuel penalty. the degree of sweep and curve of blades is set as the optimization parameters, while low power and large flow rate is set as the optimization objectives to optimize the initial design. NSGA-II algorithm is used to control the optimization parameters, and an automated simulation analysis process is established to achieve automatic iteration and optimization. the power of the optimized fan model is reduced by 8.8% compared to the prototype. the results show that the method used in this paper has good effects in dealing with multi-objective and multi-parameter performance optimization problems of axial flow fans. the method has also certain reference value for the optimization design of other turbomachine. © 2024, Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

the size-dependent behaviour of nonlocal elastic beams is investigated exploiting the Bernoulli-Euler theory. the stress-driven two-phase integral elasticity is adopted to properly capture size effects. Biaxial bending is considered and an effective coordinate-free solution procedure is proposed. the corresponding governing equations of nonlocal elasticity are established and discussed. the contributed theoretical outcomes could be useful for the implementation of computational procedures for design and optimization of small-scale electromechanical systems.

Globalization has increased the competition in the marketplace and new product development (NPD) is a main driving force of a firm’s competitiveness. It is the process of development and introduction of new products to the market. this paper provides comprehensive evidence on how product differentiation, technological sophistication, and marketing synergy affect the new product development through a new product strategy (NPS) using a sample of 114 listed Indian SMEs. the research instrument used was the questionnaire, using 7 points Likert scale. Structural equation modeling approach has been used for analysis purposes. the findings of the analysis portray a significant relationship between product differentiation and NPS, technological sophistication and NPS, marketing synergy, and NPS. the result shows that managers need to be concerned about the customers’ requirements as well as their unique features to satisfy their needs in turn to achieve the NPD success. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Cold-rolled aluminium alloy sections are considered as the new products in the market and have been illustrated their cost-effectiveness in comparison with the traditional extruded aluminium sections. these sections in the form of thin-walled sections significantly contain geometric imperfections due to manufacturing and transportation. these imperfections were found to have noticeable impacts on the behaviour and strength of cold-formed members and have been considered in research studies. they were incorporated into simulation models to evaluate their effects on the member capacities that were the base for the selection of the detrimental cases for the design. this paper, therefore, investigates the impacts of geometric imperfections on the global buckling strengths of cold-rolled aluminium alloy columns, and proposes the detrimental simulation models for the development of parametric studies to extend the strength data in the design. Also, this influence of geometric imperfection can be accounted for in the design by proposing a coefficient in reliability analysis with the application of the load and resistance factor design (LRFD) method according to the American Aluminum Specification. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Yemen is currently suffering from a shortage of electricity. 41% of population do not have access to the public electricity grid and rural areas are particularly badly affected. Solar panels can be a highly applicable and more environmentally solution as Yemen is a rich country in solar energy. this paper presents a stand-alone photovoltaic SAPV system design using the PVsyst 7.2 software to supply the required energy to a typical house of rural areas in Yemen. the application of PV systems is particularly promising for areas with lower levels of electrification. the geographical location, solar irradiation, load requirements, and various types of power losses are determined. the results and graphs obtained the optimum size of SAPV system configuration. the total amount of electrical energy generated by PV array that supplied to the load and the various types of power losses are determined. © 2022 IEEE.
