In the robotics, various walking models have been proposed to study the mechanisms of walking, and for better investigations, the walking model is excepted that can capture the most essence of walking problem with minimal complexity. According, propose a model that describe and explain the walking mechanism of creatures is our research target. In this study, we proposed a passive-dynamic walker which has flexible structure, and analyzed the walking performance by numerical simulation. the simulation result shows the influence of vibration on walking performance, and the flexible rimless wheel (FRW) can generate not only double-limb support phase, but also triple-limb support phase. Our work not only identified new gait patterns, but has also provided a theoretical basis for the mechanical design of locomotion. © 2023 IEEE.

With the development of renewable energy, underground pump storage power stations (PSPS) have been largely constructed in recent years, while it is important to initially analyze the stability of underground buildings. In this paper, a case study regarding semi-underground caverns and slopes stability of Jinshuitan PSPS has been studied with FLAC3D. Firstly, the initial stress condition of the model is validated through a two-dimensional hydraulic fracturing stress test, which displayed the maximum principal stress as 3.2 ~ 10.8 MPa with the direction of N82°W. Secondly, slope stability analysis shows that the factor of safety for slopes is larger than 3. then, the excavation response of un-supported caverns has been simulated, which indicates that the general deformation of caverns is 24 ~ 46 mm. the plastic area depth is 4 ~ 10 m and the maximum principal stress is 10 ~ 20 MPa. Finally, initial support design has been evaluated. the deformation has generally reduced by 0 ~ 3%. Also, the plastic volume of the surrounding rock decreased by 5% ~ 12%. the stress of the anchors on the side walls in the powerhouse within 150 MPa is more than 90%. therefore, the stability of semi-underground caverns and slopes is generally good and the support design basically meets the requirements. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

this paper discusses the design and testing of a low-cost Power Quality Analyzer. A low-cost Power Quality Analyzer is based on Arduino Mega 2560 was introduced. A voltage conditioning circuit is built to condition voltages that would be sampled to fit levels for analog to digital conversion. To sample currents, a current transducer is used and interfaced with the proposed system. To deal with measurements for linear circuits, a digital phase and frequency detector circuit is also implemented. the necessary power quality metrics, such as power factor and harmonic content are calculated using the software developed in C++. In addition, the PQ analyser use fast Fourier transform (FFT) to analyze the harmonic content of the quantities being measured, and it incorporates the phase and frequency detection to deal with non-linear loads. the performance of the developed PQ analyser was validated through testing in laboratory. © the Institution of engineering & Technology 2024.

Here, a dual-strip flag microstrip patch antenna operating in the millimeter waveband for future 5G wireless communications is proposed. the ground plane, which is constructed on a FR4 epoxy base with a relative permittivity of 4.4 and a dielectric constant of 4.6, measures 30 mm × 100 mm × 1.6 mm. the simulation of proposed antenna design has been carried by HFSS 13.0. the antenna has a return loss of − 28 dB, − 26 dB, − 17 dB, and − 25 dB at 22 GHz, 24 GHz, 35.5 GHz, and 38.5 GHz, respectively. this makes the antenna suitable for the upcoming generation of wireless communication, i.e., 5G. this paper discusses the antenna structure as well as other factors such as radiation pattern, return loss, current distribution, VSWR, and Smith chart. the practical return loss which we have obtained is also shown in comparative analysis. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

this research explores the possibilities of realizing pelvic bone structures by 3D printing methods, focusing on all stages of developing of a new product, starting with the designing process of the structure, continuing with finite element analysis, and ending with manufacturing and testing steps that are necessary to be done in the end for validating of the research. Key elements that have been considered in the realized research include an exploration of pelvic anatomy, existing prostheses, and relevant research, with a primary focus on mimicking spongy tissues. the design phase introduces circular and square porous structures which have been integrated into test samples, alongside the creation of a pelvic bone model that has been realized by 3D printing methods. the manufacturing process of samples and realized prototype was realized by Fused Deposition Modeling using biodegradable Polylactic Acid (PLA) material, the experimental part being followed by mechanical testing that has been performed using the realized samples to determine the compressive, tensile and flexural strength characteristics. Finite Element analysis which has been realized has revealed the superior mechanical characteristics of the circular porous structure, characteristics reached through mechanical testing, being further on used to estimate the mechanical behavior of a pelvic bone in the end. the research presented in the paper ends with the 3D scanning processes of pelvic bone and an acetabular cup that were realized by 3D printing methods, aiming to assess the clearance between these elements, emphasizing the potential of using the 3D printing methods to produce such porous structures that mimic the pelvic bone structure in the end.

At present, the mission planning of agile earth observation satellites is usually carried out by the ground control center, and the planning results are injected into the satellite through telecontrol instructions. Due to the natural defects of ground planning, autonomous mission planning on-board is an effective way to improve the intelligent level and efficiency of agile earth observation satellites. the planning function is changed from ground operation to space operation, and the software operating environment has changed greatly. How to design and test the satellite mission planning software for the space operation environment is the key problem to be solved. At present, kelp harvesting is mainly artificial harvesting. Artificial harvesting has a couple of problems, such as minimal harvesting efficiency, difficult labor, and a short harvesting period of kelp. Given the problems existing in kelp harvesting. Coupled with the marine environment and characteristics of kelp culture in China, the overall design scheme of the catamaran kelp harvester was put forward. the ship adopts a catamaran structure, which effectively guarantees the buoyancy of the kelp harvester and provides ample deck area. the propulsion device adopts a crawler paddle wheel structure, which can effectively prevent the winding of kelp, seagrass, and breeding facilities on the propulsion device. Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation software is used to analyze the resistance of kelp harvester, and the calculated values of theoretical calculation and simulation are compared and analyzed. the difference between the two calculation results is low, and the resistance analysis results meet the functional engineering requirements. this study is called upon to provide theoretical support for the design and development of kelp harvesting equipment. © 2022 IEEE.

Balancing a mechanical system against gravity enables the system to be stable in all its configurations, which, in turn, allows small and inexpensive actuators to move it. A fully gravity-balanced mechanism requires its total potential energy to remain constant for all the configurations. Common techniques for gravity balancing include the use of zero free-length springs or the manipulation of the center of masses. this paper is specifically concerned with designing gravity-balanced systems using zero free-length springs such that each link employs a single spring. We present a novel graphical approach to design gravity balanced systems, referred to as the "Spring Locus". this approach employs loci to quickly determine the attachment locations of zero free-length springs to satisfy the criterion of maintaining constant total potential energy within the system, thus achieving a fully balanced system against gravity. the advantage of this approach is that the spring parameters can be determined graphically without the use of Lagrangian mechanics, Newtonian mechanics, or computer optimizations and allows intuitive visualization of the design space. this approach is thus expected to lower the barrier for designing gravity balanced systems. We illustrate this approach through studies of general planar open-chain linkages that are articulated by revolute joints and balanced with a single spring for each link. Our theoretical analysis was verified through simulations, followed by a physical experiment. this simple graphical approach can be a useful tool for engineers and educators.

this study proposes an authentication and key exchange solution for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, leveraging a lightweight public key and symmetric encryption strategy. the approach enables machines within the M2M environment to independently authenticate themselves wherever and whenever necessary. through a comprehensive analysis, the method demonstrates resilience against security threats. the M2M communication framework employs three vital components for key exchange and authentication: Machine-Type Communication Devices (MTCD), sensor nodes, and a trusted server. MTCDs facilitate communication among themselves and can retrieve data from sensor nodes. the trusted server plays a pivotal role in generating unique public keys for each MTCD. this collaborative system enhances the security architecture, ensuring the robustness and autonomy of authentication processes in M2M communications. the proposed strategies contribute to fortified security measures, establishing a framework for the secure and reliable exchange of secret keys in the M2M communication landscape. © the Author(s).
