Current practice for grounding system design is mainly guided by IEEE 80-2000 standard. this practice is an iterative process of changing design variables until safety requirements for step and touch voltages and maximum ground grid resistance are met. It uses rectangular or square shape mesh arrangements. However, most of earthing systems in buildings, telecom towers are very complicated and not pure square or rectangular. Furthermore, IEEE process only allows to design grounding systems under uniform soil approximations. Since there are significant variations in the soil resistivity present at actual sites, multilayer soil model approach has been found to be much more accurate than the uniform soil model. this paper presents a mathematical model to analyze both simple and complicated grounding systems under uniform or non-uniform (multi-layered) soil structures. A grounding design software package was developed using MATLAB App designer, and its core algorithm and the key features are introduced. In order to check the validity of the results, they have been compared with the results taken from ETAP- Power system analysis software. © 2022 IEEE.

In offshore flexible DC transmission systems, fault crossing and surplus power dissipation can be achieved by configuring DC energy dissipation devices on the onshore DC side. Based on the analysis of the topology and operating mode of hybrid energy dissipation devices, this paper proposes capacitor voltage balance strategies and energy balance strategies for sub-modules under different operating modes. Compare and analyze different energy balance strategies in terms of energy balance effectiveness, computational complexity, and resource costs. Select energy balance strategies that meet engineering requirements. Based on the engineering design of the German Borwin6 hybrid DC energy consumption device, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed sub module capacitor voltage balance strategy and energy balance strategy in actual working conditions are verified through system simulation. © 2024 IEEE.

To develop a load-carrying capacity calculation method for reinforced concrete (RC) slab culverts reinforced with a grouted corrugated steel plate (CSP), a numerical equivalent model was established in this paper. Compared with the laboratory test results, the availability of the numerical model was verified. In addition, 21 numerical models of reinforced system were established, and their ultimate load-carrying capacities were obtained. Based on the plasticity theory, a mechanical model and load-carrying capacity estimation method of RC slab culverts rehabilitated with grouted CSP was proposed and verified. It was concluded that when the radii of the sidewall and crown of CSP remained constant, the load-carrying capacity of the reinforced system increased upon increasing the haunch radius. When the haunch radius of the CSP remained constant, the load-carrying capacity of the V system increased upon decreasing the radii of the sidewall and crown. At a constant rise-span ratio, a skene arch provided the maximum load-carrying capacity for the V system. the most important function of the grout was to provide strong lateral restraint for the CSP, which reduced the effective span and improved the load-carrying capacity of the CSP. this also indirectly improved the load-carrying capacity of the reinforced system. In addition, the grout contributed its shear strength to the reinforced system, which caused the grout to exert an arch effect or undergo shear failure. this also greatly improved the load-carrying capacity of the reinforced system. the error between the calculated results and numerical results was in the range of -27-12%. the findings of this paper provide a reference and guidance for engineers to design similar rehabilitated systems.

For alluvial deposits, tunnels are often encountered with the interface of ground layers. the seismic performance of such tunnels may be challenged by the abrupt change of the stiffness of ground layers. this paper presents a series of numerical studies on the seismic performance of a large-diameter tunnel in soft alluvial deposits, encountered with the interface of ground layers. the nonlinear finite element analysis is carried out. the complex distribution patterns of the inner forces and deformation of the tunnel are found to be related to the interaction between the tunnel and the interface of soil layers.

Magneto-optical current transformer has the defect of poor anti-interference ability. In this paper, the interference characteristics of differential magneto-optical current transformer are studied based on the background of interphase magnetic field interference in three-phase power system. By establishing the magnetic field interference model, the anti-magnetic field interference characteristics of the differential magneto-optical current transformer are studied. the research shows that there is a zero magnetic field interference point in the difference magneto-optical current transformer and the zero-interference angle presents a specific distribution law. When the transmission light path of the difference magneto-optical current transformer degenerates to a square arrangement, the value of magnetic field interference has nothing to do with the distance of interference current. Moreover, the square structure makes it have zero-interference angle at a specific angle. the analysis shows that when the interference current deviates from zero-interference angle, the differential magneto-optical current transformer has fault tolerance within a certain range of distance and angle. And it can still meet the requirements of measurement accuracy under the influence of interference current. the simulation results are consistent with the theoretical analysis, which proves the correctness of the theoretical analysis. this research can provide a useful idea for the design of anti-phase magnetic field interference for the application of differential magneto-optical current transformer in power system. © 2023 IEEE.

the wall in the tunnel is an important part of the driver's visual space, which constitutes the visual background of obstacles and vehicles. Affected by indirect light, the light reflected by the tunnel wall has a certain influence on the performance indicators such as the brightness and illuminance of the road surface, but there is still a lack of relevant research on the magnitude of the influence. In this paper, a three-dimensional space model of tunnel lighting is established, and the ray tracing algorithm is used to study the effect of the reflection characteristics of the tunnel wall on the efficiency gain of the road surface. the research results show that the road lighting efficiency gain is basically proportional to the wall reflectance, and the wall reflectance to the road lighting efficiency gain is affected by the light intensity distribution of the light source and the ceiling reflectance. In general, a higher wall reflectivity can increase the brightness of the wall itself, and the gain effect on the road lighting efficiency is not obvious. Generally, the maximum gain amplitude is less than 5%.

the paper presents tolerance analysis of SEPIC DC-DC converter. Based on a verified model, the influence of the accuracy of the magnetic components and the capacitors on the output indicators of the selected power electronic device is determined. In the study, the variation of the values of the elements was chosen to be performed in pairs, and due to the peculiarities of the power scheme the change of the inductors L1 and L2 is performed jointly, although a variant without magnetic coupling between them was chosen. Accurate quantitative assessment of this impact on the operating mode is presented in tabular form and through 3D graphs. In this way, the optimal selection of circuit elements is made at the design stage. the presented results are also useful for studying the stability and synthesis of optimal control of SEPIC DC/DC converter. © 2022 IEEE.

Optomechanical system assembly is a complex process and serves as the final stage in implementing a system, playing a crucial role in determining the performance indicators of the Optomechanical system. the performance of the Optomechanical system is mainly affected by two factors: surface shape errors of optical elements and alignment errors of components, both of which are related to the assembly process. Stress is one of the main causes of surface shape errors in optical elements. During assembly, the coupling stress can cause changes in the shape of optical elements. these changes may result in surface shape deviations from the design requirements, thereby affecting the system's performance. Alignment errors of parts and components can cause assembly errors such as misalignment, tilt, and optical spacing in the optical system. these errors can have adverse effects on the optical performance of the system. the Optomechanical system assembly errors mainly include component-level assembly errors and system-level assembly errors. To accurately analyze and estimate the assembly errors of the Optomechanical system, a small displacement torsor theory and the technique of spatial pose transformation matrix have been used to construct an error analysis model for the Optomechanical system. these models can assist engineers in predicting and controlling assembly errors, improving the performance of the Optomechanical system, and guiding the design and production of the Optomechanical system. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. In order to control the settlement of high-speed railway subgrade under the condition of deep silty fine sand foundation, this paper studies the influence of different design parameters of shallow buried reinforced concrete pile-board structure on the settlement and deformation of ballastless track with the help of FLAC3D software, analyzes the sensitivity of factors, designs multiple sets of models combining different pile length, pile diameter, plank thickness and longitudinal span, compares and analyzes the post-construction settlement, pile and soil settlement and stress analysis, plank stress deformation, so as to obtain the most suitable pile-board structure parameters for deep silty fine sand soft soil foundation. the results show that the sensitivity of pile length and pile diameter to post-construction settlement is greater than that of plank thickness and longitudinal span, showing a linear increasing trend, and the influence of plank thickness and longitudinal span is not obvious. As the pile length increases, the maximum vertical stress of the pile body also increases and the depth continues to move down. the plank is too thick to make the pile bear greater load.

this study attempted to identify the influence of the WEDM process variable on performance indicators such as material removal rate during the machining of Inconel X-750. the primary objective of this study is to examine the impact of process variables, understand their effect on material removal rate (MRR), and concurrently optimize MRR using the desirability function analysis (DFA) approach. the results of the experiment have led to the outcomes, as the regression model for MRR developed using RSM is statistically significant. Because of its modest p-value (on time while decreasing with increasing servo voltage and pulse-off time. It is observed that the estimated optimum value for MRR using the DFA technique is 4.0998 mm3/min with optimum parameters setting (i.e., Ton = 120 µs, Toff = 50 µs, Ip = 12A, and Sv = 40 V). © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
