the Savonius wind rotor, a drag-based vertical-axis wind turbine, is gaining importance throughout the globe as a way to generate electricity while reducing global warming. Although it exhibits a lower performance, this type of rotor is gaining immense interest in the research community because of its straightforward design, self-starting capability, and operational ease. Over the past two decades, numerous blade profiles have been created to improve the performance of this rotor. A recently developed arc-elliptical blade profile has shown an improved performance characteristic. In the present computational study, this arc-elliptical blade profile is considered with a concentrated augmenter placed in front of it. the concentrated augmenter is placed to enhance the performance of the blade profile further. the arc-elliptical blade profile with the concentrated augmenter is investigated using a commercial computational fluid dynamic solver ANSYS Fluent 17.1 with the help of shear stress transport (SST) k-omega turbulence model. the torque and power coefficients of the augmented rotor have been evaluated for a range of tip-speed ratio. the results obtained in the present study are also compared with those of the arc-elliptical blade profile without the concentrators. An enhancement of C-Pmax by 4.11% is observed in the arc-elliptical bladed rotor with the concentrated augmenter as compared to the one without the augmenter.

this study introduces a proposal for a passive exterior window tailored to the climatic conditions prevalent in China's hot summer and cold winter zone. To evaluate its performance, an experimental platform was set up outside a standard office, where tests were conducted to analyze the indoor thermal environment under four seasonal scenarios. these tests involved a comparison between a passive room (PR) equipped with the proposed window and a non-passive room (NPR). the human apparent temperature was calculated and assessed based on collected thermal data. Furthermore, a nonlinear fitting regression analysis was performed using Origin software on the indoor environmental temperature (IET), window surface temperature (WST), and apparent temperature (AT) data. Additionally, the study employed gene expression programming (GEP) to refine the somatosensory temperature calculation formula. this approach enabled a comprehensive analysis of the various factors influencing the indoor thermal environment through the breathing energy-saving window. the results validate the feasibility of this innovative window design and provide valuable insights for future energy-efficient window designs and retrofits in the region. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

this paper takes a self-designed crab-like robot special-shaped rod as the research object. To solve the problem that the actual gait does not conform to the theory encountered in the debugging stage, the following operations are carried out: after static analysis, the problem is that the special-shaped rod is complex and stressed. It is complicated, and the resulting deformation is too large, resulting in a decrease in the movement stability of the overall mechanism. To improve the stability of the mechanism, SolidWorks was used to complete the construction of the crab-like robot model, and ANSYS Workbench was used to perform static analysis and topology optimization on the special-shaped rod, so as to obtain the preliminary optimization results. On this basis, to better improve the stability of the mechanism, the secondary optimization of the special-shaped rod is carried out. the static analysis is carried out again and the obtained results are compared with the original design. the deformation of the special-shaped rod during the movement process is reduced by 13%. Under the premise of structural rigidity, the weight is reduced by 44. 73% and the stress distribution is more uniform. the above analysis results show that after the analysis and processing of the above methods, the special-shaped rod structure is further optimized, the stability of the overall structure is improved, and the effect of green design is achieved at the same time. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

As biomechanics research evolves, the significance of motion capture technology in domains like film and television, gaming, and motion training is progressively gaining prominence, with an expanding repertoire of applications. Optical motion capture, employing optical dynamic capture equipment founded on a 3D imaging analysis system within a specified setting, stands as the most mature technique. However, its high cost and constraints pertaining to venue and environmental factors limit its usage. Conversely, inertial motion capture devices, functional under non-optical conditions, can cater to the needs of the broader public. To further enhance affordability, portability, and simplification of the device, this study proposes an embedded system design grounded on a nine-axis inertial sensor. It captures the posture of each joint in the human upper limb and wirelessly transmits the data to the Unreal Engine 3D arm model for action replication and motion trajectory delineation. thus, it generates feedback results facilitating remote motion control. © 2023 SPIE.

Starting from the current multifunctional integration and architecture design development status of the flight control system for the mainstream civil aircraft, this paper proposes the system design concepts of "In and Out as a Whole", "Direct Connection and Transmission", and "Same Sources and Routes"for the external sensors application sources of the fight control system. External application sources are air data, inertial Reference data and angle of attack sensors in this paper, specifically. this paper analyzes and compares the functional residence and separation processing of external application sources for fly-by-wire flight control system. In addition, it demonstrates the correctness of this design concept and its practical engineering value, systematically. this work has provided a significant reference for future civil aircraft design. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

the traditional gate can not use the natural conditions to achieve flood control function, in the flood comes by relying on human operation, can not carry out timely flood control operation. this paper proposes a hydraulic self-drive flood control gate, which mainly includes hydraulic dynamic drive mechanism and hydraulic drive mechanism. Use SolidWorks 3 D modeling software to establish its 3 D model, with the overall length of 6.5 m, the width of 1.5 m and the height of 4.5 m. And the secondary protection function is realized through the hydraulic drive mechanism. the parameters of the gate are set, and the specific design parameters of the water tank and hydraulic cylinder are obtained through the theoretical analysis of the two mechanisms. Ansys simulation software is used for dynamic analysis and mode analysis, show that the maximum stress of the gate is 8.84 Mpa and the maximum deformation is 0.186 mm, which meets the requirements of gate design strength and stiffness of the gate. Mode analysis simulation results show that the minimum vibration frequency of the gate is 34.588 Hz, greater than the maximum pulse frequency of water flow is 20 Hz, which almost does not resonate with the flood.

the growth of traffic is significant to the planning and development of the transportation system, as it aids in the identification of future investments. Traffic forecasting is defined as an evaluation of traffic capacity and the number of vehicles that will use a specific type of transportation facility in the future. this method uses appropriate assumptions to estimate overall average traffic, giving adequate weight to traffic growth in figures, considering the volume of design services as recommended by IRC: 64 for various road types, for the following three decades, this model is used to forecast future traffic volumes in PCU/day. After analyzing several research publications, a methodology based on the elasticity method is adopted to determine the overall traffic growth rate. To develop the future traffic prediction model, the vehicle registration figures are collected from the RTO-Shillong, correlated with the help of GDP, per-capita income, and population of the Meghalaya to generate the growth rates as per IRC recommendations. the model of traffic forecasting might be quite subjective and approximate due to the lack of adequate data and the volatility of the expanding economy. thus, proposing lanes required after ten, twenty, and thirty years for smooth serviceability of different roads classified based on location and function as per IRC recommendations will be obliging. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Addressed in the present paper are the underlying causes for the emergence and development of cracks in specific areas of diesel engine cylinder heads. Reconsidered, from the authors' point of view, are some frequently recurring regularities of failure occurrence in a particular type of engine using fuel injection system. Examined further is the impact of the distinctive characteristic features of the design, and the thermocyclic effect on the structure of the aluminum alloy during the process of combustion. © 2022 IEEE.
