To address the current issues of traditional variable stiffness joints, such as limited motion range, large overall dimensions, and significant energy loss, this paper proposes a novel maglev variable stiffness joint that further enhances the safety and energy efficiency of human-robot interaction. this joint combines the trigonometric relationships within a triangular structure and the exponential growth trend of the repulsive force of magnetic materials, better simulating the nonlinear characteristics of the human elbow joint to achieve a wide range of stiffness and angle variations. At the same time, a static and dynamic analysis of the maglev variable stiffness joint is conducted. A static model is established through geometric and mechanical analysis, and a dynamic model is built based on Lagrange's equations and the principle of virtual work, resolving the complexity issues in modeling and control of traditional variable stiffness joints and providing a new method for the control of flexible robotic arm joints. © 2025 IEEE.

Annular ejectors are widely used in aerospace and other applications, and their performance has a significant impact on the overall system. In this paper, the effects of main nozzle area ratio, contraction section angle and diffusion section angle on the performance of annular ejector are investigated by using computational fluid dynamics combined with one-factor experiments, on the basis of which the L9(33) orthogonal table is established to optimise the structure of main nozzle and to screen the main influencing factors. the results show that the flow field inside the annular ejector is extremely complex. the influence of the main nozzle area ratio on the performance of the annular ejector is very great, and the change of the area ratio will lead to the change of the position of the second excitation sequence as well as the Mach number at the outlet of the main nozzle. However, as with the results of the one-way analysis, the effect of the angle of the constriction section on the exit Mach number is negligible. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. the tubular pump blade vibrates due to water flow excitation force and centrifugal force, which is susceptible to damage. this will lead to the abnormal operation of pump unit. To acquire the static stress and vibration characteristics of the impeller, a unidirectional fluid-structure coupling (FSC) method is adopted for static stress analysis and modal analysis. the results indicate that under different conditions, the static stress and displacement deformation law of the impeller are the same. the static stress increases as the radius decreases, with the maximum value occurring at the intersection of pressure surface and hub. the displacement deformation increases continuously with the expanding radius, and the highest value of deformation occurs near the shroud. the values of the maximum equivalent stress (MES) and maximum total deformation (MTD) of the impeller gradually decrease as the flow rate increases from 260L/s to 380 L/s. the natural frequency of the impeller is lower in wet mode compared to dry mode, and the additional mass of the water medium has different effects on each order. the research can be used as a reference for designing tubular pumps optimally and improving their stability. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. Millimeter-wave (mmWave) fifth-generation (5G) vehicular networks are essential for vehicle communication and connectivity, leveraging 5G technology. these networks aim to provide fast data transfer rates, low latency, and reliable wireless communication to support various services and applications in the automotive industry. this research presents the design and analysis of a novel, compact, lightweight mmWave antenna tailored explicitly for 5G vehicular networks. the proposed antenna is designed on an ultrathin 0.787 mm RO5880 substrate with a relative permittivity of 2.3. It incorporates a bubbleshaped patch and a partial ground plane with a square slot. the antenna has overall dimensions of 12×12 mm2 and operates within a wide frequency range of 24-32 GHz, providing an impedance bandwidth of 8 GHz. the antenna's performance is truly impressive, with a peak efficiency greater than >90% and gains of 4.4 dBi at 26 GHz and 4.5 dBi at 28 GHz. the fabricated prototype aligns well with the initial simulations, validating its design. the single-element design is expanded into a four-element linear array system measuring 48×12×0.787 mm3. the isolation levels between the radiating elements exceed 20 dB, indicating high isolation performance. Furthermore, the proposed antenna undergoes testing using a vehicle model, yielding promising results. these features position the proposed antenna as an attractive candidate for mmWave 5G networks, particularly in applications related to 5G vehicular networks. © 2024 IEEE.

there is an increasing need for optimizing the design of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) flexural strengthening of deficient concrete beams. Optimizing the design is crucial for enhancing the competitiveness of FRP material as compared with conventional environmentally unfriendly materials like concrete and steel. Practicing engineers in Canada are often faced with design challenges when applying the current codes and standards (NBCC 2015;CSA S806-17) to strengthen existing buildings, including the high amount of FRP material required to strengthen existing deficient members. these challenges often result in practicing engineers selecting more financially viable conventional retrofit options, like shortening existing spans with steel posts. In this study, a simple reliability-based method is used to generate user-friendly design charts, to optimize the amount of FRP layers required to strengthen concrete beams, deficient in flexure. these charts are derived to be compatible with the Canadian building codes (NBCC 2015;CSA S806-17). A database of experimentally tested strengthened beams is collected, applied along with the statistics for unstrengthened beams and loads, used to calibrate the NBCC and ACI 318 codes, respectively, to run the reliability analysis. Results show that the code generally prescribes an over-conservative amount of FRP for a given target safety and that when accounting for load type and history, the reliability method can meet the same target reliability index with less material. © 2023, Canadian Society for Civil engineering.

the spline fittings are widely used in different mechanical constructions where high load transmission is required from a shaft to a spline plate or a tooth gear or other internal cylindrical element. In many cases a key joint connection can not bear the load that we want to transform. In this case the application of double key could give solution. But sometimes it does not give solution due to the high load that is why spline fitting should be used. this publication focuses for the manufacturing of the spline shaft with plain milling technology. the type of the tool is a formed disc type milling cutter. Since more splines are around the perimeter of the shaft the repetition of the milling process is needed in the function of the number of the splines. All of the manufacturing parameters will be determined that are needed for a complex technological analysis such as cutting forces, machining times, speeds, etc. the chip volume will be approximated by volume constancy since the separated chip volume is a quite complex geometric body. I will prescribe initial technological parameters and define existing shaft geometries for which I will determine the technological parameters to show and analyze the correlations between the technological parameters and the variable for each shaft. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. In architectural design, a good design scheme can reduce the energy consumption of the building itself and have comfortable natural lighting, at the same time. Taking the design of an office building in Hefei area as an example, the light environment and building energy consumption are analyzed. the light environment and building energy consumption are comprehensively considered to design a building with good light environment and low energy consumption. this paper analyzes its influence on energy consumption and natural lighting in the building from the perspectives of the thickness of external wall insulation materials, the thickness of roof insulation materials, the vertical distance between horizontal sunshade and window, the depth of horizontal sunshade, the height of windowsill and the type of glass. the optimization scheme of specific parameters is also proposed. It is hoped that the results of this study will provide reference value for other architectural designs in Hefei area. © 2023 the Authors.

One of the most time-consuming and complex study subjects in the present day is trying to anticipate the amount of stress experienced by working professions. Although short-term stress might help us perform under pressure, chronic or severe stress compromises our well-being and causes disruptions in our daily life. Many stress-related health issues are avoidable if identified and treated early. A person's stress level may be determined by monitoring changes in a variety of biosignals, including temperature, electromagnetic, resistive, acoustical, visual and so on. there are a plethora of studies that may help you figure out what causes your stress and what kinds of things help you deal with it. Previous studies had a number of drawbacks, including more design complexity, more mistakes, worse efficiency, and a higher rate of misclassification. this research aims to apply an enhanced deep learning technique called Learning based Novel Stress Analyzer (LNSA) to forecast the level of stress of industry professionals in an effort to address these problems. Included in the methods proposed by this study are information preparation, extraction of features, classification and LNSA-based identification. Professionals' logical characteristic data is gathered via sensors and used as a dataset for processing the complete system. the sensors known as 3-Axis Accelerometer, Electrocardiogram, Pulse Sensor, Body Temperature and Respiration Sensor collect the defining data. Specifically, it eliminates redundant characteristics and completes incomplete data in the relevant dataset through a process called pre-processing. this paper provides the final classification findings, in which it show high accuracy in results and the technique of LNSA suggested in this paper accurately estimate the level of stress in a given situation. © 2023 IEEE.

Currently, the air-conditioning cold source system in underground subway stations typically adopts the combination of traditional water-cooled chillers and cooling towers. the chillers are installed in the dedicated machine room within the underground station, while the cooling towers are placed in the well ventilated outdoor areas. However, in practical project, there are challenges such as difficulties in finding installation locations for cooling towers on outdoor ground, difficulty in coordinating with ground landscapes, and operational noise, which is particularly prominent in urban center subway stations. this paper analyzes the specific problems existing in the application of conventional air-conditioning cold source scheme in a subway station based on the actual case of a subway project in China. Furthermore, it proposes replacing the traditional water-cooled chiller and cooling tower setup with an integrated evaporative condensation chiller solution. A comprehensive comparison is conducted between these two approaches considering factors like occupied area requirements, energy conservation, water conservation benefits, investment costs and payback periods;additionally discussing aspects related to operation and maintenance management. Finally, this study assesses the suitability of employing evaporative condensation chillers for subway engineering applications. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
