As an innovative information technology, Digital Twin has greatly promoted the development of intelligent manufacturing in the industry. However, in the field of geotechnical engineering, there are still few researches on this aspect, which is still a "new territory" and "no man's land". the concept of digital twin coincides with the needs of geotechnical engineering informatization, so the introduction of digital twin technology into the field of geotechnical engineering will help to promote the development process of geotechnical engineering informatization and digitization. this paper puts forward and defines the digital twin model of geotechnical engineering, describes the connotation of the digital twin model, and studies the architecture of the digital twin model of geotechnical engineering. On this basis, the integration and sharing mechanism of geotechnical engineering digital twin data based on BIM technology is proposed. In order to break through the defect that the geotechnical engineering information model has not fully played its role for a long time, an integrated model of geological body and structural body is constructed based on the construction and integration module of geotechnical digital twin model. Furthermore, the geotechnical engineering digital twin simulation analysis module is developed to initially form the geotechnical engineering digital twin model, so as to realize the geotechnical engineering digital design, collaborative construction, visual decision-making and transparent management.

this study's primary goal is to investigate how various airfoils' maximum camber positions affect hydrofoil cavitation performance. through numerical simulation, the cavitation flow properties of hydrofoils with various maximum camber positions are compared. the accuracy of the modified turbulence viscosity and SST k-ω turbulence model on the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of cavitation near the hydrofoil is evaluated by combining it with the model test. analysis is done on the cavitation flow field of four airfoils at two distinct design angles of attack (+4° and +6°) with varying maximum camber locations (fmax = 35%C, 40%C, 50%C, and 60%C). the findings indicate that at 35%C, the hydrofoil's maximum camber position has improved cavitation performance. the hydrofoil's cloud cavitation evolution time is shorter than that of the original hydrofoil, and during the same time period, more cavitation is generated. the lift-to-drag ratio and lift coefficient of the cavitation flow field are significantly improved at both angles of attack. At the same time, the vorticity distribution and entropy generation distribution can be effectively reduced under the design angle of attack and high angle of attack cavitation, and the hydraulic loss in the cavitation flow field can be reduced. this research can serve as a guide for optimizing the hydrofoil's cavitation performance and designing the impeller of the axial flow pump that follows. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. Compared with the traditional separately designed guidance and control system, the integrated guidance and control system can directly obtain the rudder Angle command according to the relative motion information of the missile and the motion parameters of the guided rocket, which improves the overall performance of the system and avoids redundant and repetitive design. Based on dynamic surface control, a nonlinear differentiator is introduced to design an integrated guidance control algorithm considering the constraints of miss distance and fall Angle, and the closed-loop stability of the system is proved. Finally, the superiority of the algorithm in dynamic surface convergence accuracy and guidance accuracy is verified by simulation results.

the benefits of study program digitalisation are very promising in engineering sector, and they are coming into all segments of life not avoiding the segment of education especially in engineering area. therefore Riga Technical University is intensively improving its study courses introducing and modifying study activities realised by means of various interactive tools. One of the ways to digitalise the courses is participation in project 2.3.1.1.i.0/1/22/I/CFLA/003 'Mastering of High Level Digital Skills In Latvia In the Field of High Performance Computing' ('Augsta līmeņa digitālo prasmju apguve Latvijā augstas veiktspējas skaitļošanas tehnoloiju jomā'). this project is realised by three largest universities of Latvija - Riga Technical University, Riga Stradiņš University and Latvian University. It initialises the modification of 12 study courses for the further combined learning methodology on the basis of 8 themes modules: 1) scientific programming and operational systems, 2) computer design, 3D modelling and design, 3) data analysis, machine learning and data science, 4) parallel programming, 5) modelling and simulation, 6) modern computing systems and methods 7) engineering design of complex physical systems and simulation of mechanic, aerodynamic, electrodynamic properties and 8) artificial intelligence including medicine diagnostics based on pictures. © 2023 IEEE.

Gesture recognition based on computer vision is an important part of artificial intelligence. Gesture recognition is an important way of human-computer interaction and is of great significance to improve user experience. Aiming at the problem of intelligent control of traditional music player, this paper designed and developed an intelligent music player system based on gesture recognition, this paper discusses the method of gesture contour extraction, presents the gesture recognition method about fourier descriptor and neural network, and gives the design of the intelligent music player based on software engineering. Experiments show that the system has the advantages of high recognition rate, excellent performance and good user experience. © 2022 IEEE.

Soil slopes can be either natural or manmade. design and study of soil slopes involve a critical activity, i.e., analyzing its stability. Ascertaining the stability can help preventing a slope failure and also help in redesign of failed slope. It involves identifying the critical failure surface approximately and determining corresponding Factor of Safety. Analyzing the stability of slope is an iterative process. Different analytical methods with manual calculations have been developed based on soil strength parameters. Stability of slope is ascertained by means of factor of safety to a slope’s critical failure surface. With advent of software programming, computer modeling, analyzing and examining slope stability problems for the different analytical methods developed has become an easy task. In the present study, a renowned geotechnical slope stability software Slope/W was used. the study involved modeling of homogenous soil slopes with different values of critical slope stability parameters such as cohesion (C), soil’s unit weight (γ) and internal friction angle (Ø) to each of the four assumed slope configurations. Identification of slope stability was done by determining the critical slip circle of failure through Bishop’s method of analysis in Slope/W software program. Overall 128 models were analyzed and the research findings for the above data were compared. Results showed that for a given slope configuration, the factor of safety changes with changing cohesion, soil’s unit weight, and internal friction angle. Also slope’s factor of safety changes in boundary conditions from dry to partly saturated for a given slope configuration and corresponding slope stability parameters. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Current practice for grounding system design is mainly guided by IEEE 80-2000 standard. this practice is an iterative process of changing design variables until safety requirements for step and touch voltages and maximum ground grid resistance are met. It uses rectangular or square shape mesh arrangements. However, most of earthing systems in buildings, telecom towers are very complicated and not pure square or rectangular. Furthermore, IEEE process only allows to design grounding systems under uniform soil approximations. Since there are significant variations in the soil resistivity present at actual sites, multilayer soil model approach has been found to be much more accurate than the uniform soil model. this paper presents a mathematical model to analyze both simple and complicated grounding systems under uniform or non-uniform (multi-layered) soil structures. A grounding design software package was developed using MATLAB App designer, and its core algorithm and the key features are introduced. In order to check the validity of the results, they have been compared with the results taken from ETAP- Power system analysis software. © 2022 IEEE.

To develop a load-carrying capacity calculation method for reinforced concrete (RC) slab culverts reinforced with a grouted corrugated steel plate (CSP), a numerical equivalent model was established in this paper. Compared with the laboratory test results, the availability of the numerical model was verified. In addition, 21 numerical models of reinforced system were established, and their ultimate load-carrying capacities were obtained. Based on the plasticity theory, a mechanical model and load-carrying capacity estimation method of RC slab culverts rehabilitated with grouted CSP was proposed and verified. It was concluded that when the radii of the sidewall and crown of CSP remained constant, the load-carrying capacity of the reinforced system increased upon increasing the haunch radius. When the haunch radius of the CSP remained constant, the load-carrying capacity of the V system increased upon decreasing the radii of the sidewall and crown. At a constant rise-span ratio, a skene arch provided the maximum load-carrying capacity for the V system. the most important function of the grout was to provide strong lateral restraint for the CSP, which reduced the effective span and improved the load-carrying capacity of the CSP. this also indirectly improved the load-carrying capacity of the reinforced system. In addition, the grout contributed its shear strength to the reinforced system, which caused the grout to exert an arch effect or undergo shear failure. this also greatly improved the load-carrying capacity of the reinforced system. the error between the calculated results and numerical results was in the range of -27-12%. the findings of this paper provide a reference and guidance for engineers to design similar rehabilitated systems.

In offshore flexible DC transmission systems, fault crossing and surplus power dissipation can be achieved by configuring DC energy dissipation devices on the onshore DC side. Based on the analysis of the topology and operating mode of hybrid energy dissipation devices, this paper proposes capacitor voltage balance strategies and energy balance strategies for sub-modules under different operating modes. Compare and analyze different energy balance strategies in terms of energy balance effectiveness, computational complexity, and resource costs. Select energy balance strategies that meet engineering requirements. Based on the engineering design of the German Borwin6 hybrid DC energy consumption device, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed sub module capacitor voltage balance strategy and energy balance strategy in actual working conditions are verified through system simulation. © 2024 IEEE.

Optomechanical system assembly is a complex process and serves as the final stage in implementing a system, playing a crucial role in determining the performance indicators of the Optomechanical system. the performance of the Optomechanical system is mainly affected by two factors: surface shape errors of optical elements and alignment errors of components, both of which are related to the assembly process. Stress is one of the main causes of surface shape errors in optical elements. During assembly, the coupling stress can cause changes in the shape of optical elements. these changes may result in surface shape deviations from the design requirements, thereby affecting the system's performance. Alignment errors of parts and components can cause assembly errors such as misalignment, tilt, and optical spacing in the optical system. these errors can have adverse effects on the optical performance of the system. the Optomechanical system assembly errors mainly include component-level assembly errors and system-level assembly errors. To accurately analyze and estimate the assembly errors of the Optomechanical system, a small displacement torsor theory and the technique of spatial pose transformation matrix have been used to construct an error analysis model for the Optomechanical system. these models can assist engineers in predicting and controlling assembly errors, improving the performance of the Optomechanical system, and guiding the design and production of the Optomechanical system. © COPYRIGHT SPIE.
