In this paper we consider how ontological knowledge graphs (KGs) can be used to move towards a reasoning functionality for digital twins of structural dynamic systems. the KG is used to integrate geometric and material properties, that determine the dynamic behaviours of the structure. A three-storey, small-scale building is used as a use case to create a prototype digital twin, in the context of modal testing. the concept is based on combining geometric information from computer-aided design (CAD) models, finite element analysis (FEA), data recorded from modal tests and Bayesian uncertainty quantification. the required functionality of the digital twin is to provide integration of "heterogeneous" data sources, to create an overall knowledge model of the structural dynamics that are validated by the modal test data. the KG was built using the Neo4j interface. the CAD and FEA were carried out in the open-source software Blender and FEniCSx, respectively. the resulting digital twin can provide user information, as required, via a web-based user interface. © 2024 Proceedings of ISMA 2024 - International conference on Noise and Vibration engineering and USD 2024 - International conference on Uncertainty in Structural Dynamics. the estimation of the right airfoil for an aerial vehicle is a crucial step in the preliminary design and can affect the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle. the parameter to measure the airfoil performance is aerodynamic coefficients. the problems associated with the determination of CL and CD are addressed by using different algorithms and models of artificial neural networks (ANN). In this paper, ANN model is used to calculate and verify the aerodynamic efficiency of an airfoil, which includes the estimation of the CL and CD of different airfoil geometries at various angle of attack (− 10° to 10°), Mach number, and Reynolds number. the ANN has been widely used for its ability to solve exceedingly nonlinear problems in the real world. this study includes training the dataset to form a suitable model that can predict the aerodynamic coefficients in less time and have more accuracy. the dataset is obtained through CFD analysis which was used to train the model and validate its efficiency. the artificial neural network (ANN) model that is developed allows an Mof range 0–0.7 and works on any airfoil. this model gives highly accurate results as compared to other numerical methods with the added benefit of minimizing time and high computational costs. © 2024, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

the precision model of relative motion is a necessity for satellite formation flying, but these models are complex for analysis and design, especially in elliptic orbit. For some satellite formation flying applications, the long-term formation maintenance and fuel-saving is more important for satellite life. Using the averaged analysis method over an orbit period, the averaged equation of satellite relative motion in an elliptic orbit is presented in this paper. Firstly, based on the homogeneous solutions of T-H equations, a simple averaged equation of relative motion is derived. Secondly, the improved averaged equation of relative motion which is described by the instantaneous orbit elements difference is developed for considering the orbital perturbation. the effectiveness of the proposed models is verified by four simulation cases which consider the orbit perturbation or not. the proposed model can eliminate the periodicity movement of satellite relative motion, and it is convenient for long-term formation flying designing and configuration controlling. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

the aim of the article was to analyse the impact of three selected types of trailing-edge flaps on the aerodynamic characteristics and performance of the Tecnam P-2008JC aircraft. the SOLIDWORKS software, together with the Flow Simulation module, was used to design the 3D model of the aircraft and to simulate the air flow. the article contains descriptions of issues related to the aerodynamics and dynamics of aircraft motion, calculations describing the procedure for designing and building a model of the tested aircraft in the SOLIDWORKS software, performing simulations using the Flow Simulation module and determining the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft with the flaps applied, determining the basic performance of the aircraft with extended flaps, and then comparing the determined performance with the in a configuration without flaps. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. Nonlinear Finite Element analysis (NLFEA) is currently available in many commercial programs. At the same time computing power has increased to the level that routine use of NLFEA for structural analysis became feasible. Structural concrete shows distinctly nonlinear behaviour and thus the available constitutive models, within FEA packages, include considerations for nonlinear material constitutive behaviour, damage, plasticity and concrete-reinforcement interactions. However, the results of FEA of concrete structures, depend on the choice of numerous modelling parameters making them susceptible to errors in assumptions, and dependent on decisions of the modeler regarding meshing, boundary conditions, and constitutive models for concrete. this paper presents a discussion of how to rationally approach NLFEA of structural concrete with the example of concrete slabs susceptible to punching shear failure. the analyses are done using the concrete damaged plasticity (CDP) model available in ABAQUS. the importance of rational choices of modelling parameters and the calibration of the FEA models based on experimental results is discussed. the paper shows specific examples where NLFEA was used to expand the existing experimental databases, perform detailed parametric studies and propose improvements in the design formulas available in the codes.

the present advancement of technologies for manufacturing composite products and a wide range of composite materials make it possible to manufacture products of various shapes and sizes, while ensuring their high quality and excellent electrical characteristics. However, the temperature-time regimes for moulding composite products used at most enterprises are quite energy and time consuming. Moreover, thermal residual stresses and strains in the obtained product can make its further use impossible. the aim of the article is to develop a technique for determining the temperature difference across the thickness of the package of a polymer composite material being moulded with regard to technological and design factors. Analytical dependences that allow calculating the temperature difference across the thickness of the composite package during moulding have been obtained. the solution of the thermal problem was reduced to determining the temperature field in the product being moulded. the analysis revealed the dependence of the temperature field on the characteristics and properties of the material being moulded and the characteristics of the main and auxiliary tool. To solve the problem of thermal conductivity, the distribution of the temperature field in the main tool, product being moulded and auxiliary tool was calculated. In this case, the boundary conditions at the joints were the same for the contacting elements. An analysis of the factors affecting a temperature gradient across the composite package, which were included in the obtained dependences, was carried out. Moreover, possible ways to reduce the unevenness of the temperature field by technological and design methods were considered. the results obtained made it possible to reduce the temperature difference across the thickness of the composite package being moulded without additional production costs. © 2022 IEEE.

Supply chain disruptions can significantly impact the efficiency and productivity of process industries. this study presents a simulation-based approach to analyze the supply chain of a jackfruit industry. In order to verify the intelligent transportation system more directly, efficiently and comprehensively, this paper aims at the simulation and verification of the intelligent transportation system, and designs an intelligent transportation simulation and verification platform based on the hardware of intelligent minivan, simulation sand table, cloud monitoring platform, and millimeter class high-precision indoor positioning technology, multi-sensor fusion technology, and hardware in the loop simulation technology. At the same time, the multi vehicle formation control algorithm of the leader follower is applied to build the multi vehicle formation model, and the test verification is carried out on the simulation platform. the verification shows that the hardware in the loop simulation platform can effectively verify and quickly verify relevant algorithms. Compared with the traditional software simulation, the intelligent transportation verification platform based on hardware in the loop simulation technology has outstanding performance in model building, result analysis and effect display, and the simulation results are more accurate.

this paper presents the design and analysis of an ultra-wideband (UWB) Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) structure tailored for spatial filtering and emerging 5G communication systems. the proposed FSS features a nested square-loop design with a central diamond-shaped patch, achieving excellent frequency selectivity and wide operational bandwidth. the structure offers a reflection coefficient (S21) of less than −10 dB across a bandwidth of 4 GHz to 11 GHz, demonstrating its suitability for UWB applications. Furthermore, it exhibits robust angular stability up to 75° and polarization insensitivity, making it adaptable to real-world scenarios. the simulated surface current distribution and S21 characteristics validate multi- resonance behavior, enabling effective electromagnetic performance for advanced wireless technologies. the proposed design holds significant potential for applications in 5G communication systems, antenna radomes, and electromagnetic shielding, offering a promising solution for next-generation spatial filtering.

the sensitivity of vibration characteristics to geometric imperfection in rectangular plates made with FGMs under action of classic or elastic constraints is studied. It is assumed that the material changes in length and width directions of plate. the energy functions of plate are deduced and vibration modals are solved by means of Ritz procedure along with the modified Fourier series. the impacts of geometric imperfection, gradient material and edge conditions on vibration features of rectangular plates are simulated. Numerical results demonstrate that material gradient could be considered as control mechanism for dynamic freatures of plate. Moreover, the existence of geometric imperfections will lead singularity of vibration characteristics of plate. the imperfection sensitivity of vibration behavior in plate may provide important reference in the design or analysis of plates. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
