the need for simulation models that are reliable and able to predict the conceptual as well as the implementation errors early in the design process is a must in the current tight time to market constrains. In this paper a model for a 1.25 Gb/s fiber channel transmitter is presented. the model is implemented using the IEEE 1076.1 standard VHDL-AMS. the modelled system is composed of two sections;an analog section, comprising the laser diode and the laser driver, and a digital section, consisting of an 8B/10B encoder and a 10:1 multiplexer.

At present, the detection nodes of abnormal operation state of electrical equipment are mostly set as independent structures, and the detection range of operation state is small, which leads to the increase of false detection times. therefore, the design and verification analysis of abnormal operation state detection method of electrical equipment based on PLC technology are proposed. According to the current test requirements and the changes of standards, firstly, the characteristics of abnormal detection of electrical equipment are extracted, and the actual operating state detection range is expanded by multi-objective method, and multi-objective dynamic detection nodes are deployed. Based on this, the abnormal operating state detection model of PLC electrical equipment is constructed, and the abnormal detection of equipment is realized by two-stage cross-correction. the final test results show that the final number of false detections can reach more than 20 times for the selected eight electrical equipments, which shows that with the help of PLC technology, the designed method for detecting abnormal operation state of electrical equipment is more efficient and stable, and has practical application value. © 2024 SPIE.

Projection systems comprising micromechanical. scanning mirrors are a promising approach for information display of any kind. If combined with advanced laser diodes as light sources, ultra-compact projection heads can be realized, as it will be shown in this contribution. Besides the laser, key component of the system is a special MEMS device, a two-dimensional resonant micro scanning mirror. the laser beam formed by collimator optics is directed onto the micro scanning mirror. then, the reflected beam describes a highly complicated Lissajous figure on the projection screen with flare angles of up to 20 degrees. By driving the mirror and electrically modulating the intensity of the laser beam in a synchronous manner, projection of images can be achieved. Advanced techniques that guarantee improved image quality and allow compensation of artifacts because of relative movement between projection head, screen, and human observer will be described. Based on these principles, several optoelectronic systems have been designed. A monochrome projection head that incorporates the laser diode, optics and the micro mirror could be reduced to a volume of 15mm x 7 mm x 5mm. A slightly larger head is attached to a laser unit with red, green, and blue lasers via glass optical fiber for projection of full color images and video streams. All systems have VGA (640 x 480 pixels) resolution. they operate with 8 bit color depth per pixel and 50 frames per second. these key features in combination with the miniaturized size allow their use for a broad range of applications.

the 3D digital design and the delivery of 3D digital models for substations have been widely carried out around the world. However, the current 3D display systems cannot reflect the the real-time operating data and status of the equipment. In this paper, a 3D real-time monitoring and display system for substations is proposed, which can dynamically monitor the operating data and status of equipment in a 3D visualization environment. © 2023 SPIE.

How to predict the students’ learning trend, according to the current situation of students' learning, is meaningful for the management of students' learning process. this paper presents a study early-warning system based on machine learning, using the method of machine learning with the data related to the scores of students’ professional courses, retaking percentage, graduation rate and bachelor's degree data of three classes of School of Information engineering of Wuhan Business University, which establish a prediction model of student learning trend evaluation (whether there is a risk of not obtaining the degree). It provides reference for college students' study management and can improve the quality and efficiency of teaching management. © 2023 SPIE.

In the past decade advances in microprocessors have been applied in FT-IR spectrometers to deliver higher data system performance at substantially reduced cost. Now, advances in microprocessors and signal processing technology are being applied to overcome current performance limits in the FT-IR optical bench, and considerably expand their functionality. this paper describes the design and performance of a new generation of research-grade interferometer, the 896, using state-ofthe art technology. the major enhancements are: rapid auto-align (allowing interchanging of beamsplitters);dynamic alignment (giving active stabilization and allowing high performance operation over a wide variety of scan conditions);enhanced stability rapid-scan mode with general purpose kinetic software;step-scan mode (0.004 Hz to 800 Hz) with variable phase modulation;and dynamic range extension. © 1991 SPIE. In recent years, based on the previous research work [1], "virtual prototyping engineering for complex product (CPVPE)" project, combined with current technology developments and application requirements, is further studied and practiced. Some latest research results gained are introduced in this paper in detail, which include the collaborative simulation grid based system technology for CPVPE, component based collaborative modeling and simulation technology for CPVP (Complex Product Virtual Prototype), multidisciplinary design optimization technology for CPVP, collaborative virtual environment technology, collaborative simulation grid platform based supporting environment technology for CPVPE, etc. Furthermore, a tools suit for CPVPE, namely COSIM-Grid, developed by authors and their colleagues is presented At last, some typical cases based on COSIM-Grid are also presented. ©2003 IEEE.

Non-mechanical variable lenses are important for creating compact imaging devices. Various methods employing dielectrically actuated lenses, membrane lenses, and/or liquid crystal lenses were previously proposed(1-4). Here we present tunable-focus flat liquid crystal diffractive lenses (LCDL) employing binary Fresnel zone electrodes fabricated on Indium-Tin-Oxide using conventional micro-photolithography. the phase levels can be adjusted by varying the effective refractive index of a nematic liquid crystal sandwiched between the electrodes and a reference substrate. Using a proper voltage distribution across various electrodes the focal length can be changed. Electrodes are shunted such that the correct phase retardation step sequence is achieved. If the number of 2 pi zone boundaries is increased by a factor of m the focal length is changed from f to f/m based on the digitized Fresnel zone equation: f = r(m)(2)/2m lambda, where r(m) is m(th) zone radius, and lambda is the wavelength. the lenses operate at very low voltage levels (+/- 2.5V ac input), exhibit fast switching times (20-150 ms), can have large apertures (> 10 mm), and small form factor, and are robust and insensitive to vibrations, gravity, and capillary effects that limit membrane and dielectrically actuated lenses. Several tests were performed on the LCDL including diffraction efficiency measurement, switching dynamics, and hybrid imaging with a refractive lens. Negative focal lengths are achieved by adjusting the voltages across electrodes. Using these lenses in combination, magnification can be changed and zoom lenses can be formed. the promising results make LCDL a good candidate for non-mechanical auto-focus and zoom lenses.

Underwater wireless optical communication has been used for establish a link between mobile vehicles and/or fixed nodes because light, especially in the blue/green region, allows to achieve higher data-rate than acoustical or electromagnetic waves for moderate distances. the here proposed work has the aim to pave the way for diffuse optical communication allowing to support optical communication in an Underwater Wireless Sensor Network of dense-deployed fixed nodes for specific application, such as monitoring and surveillance, for shallow, coastal and inland water in the case of moderate/limited area. the use of light impulse for communication is motivated by the possibility of targeting high data-rate, low-cost and small dimension components. this paper describes an overall vision of the system: a HDL implementation of flexible modules for the management of optical communication (based on IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.11 standard) which target the interface with current terrestrial technology for Wireless Sensor Networks;the design and implementation of circuits for underwater optical point-to-point and planar communication. the preliminary results and design consideration are reported considering also future possible developments.

A new design of a differential flow refractometer has been developed to monitor the condition of flowing media in a pipeline. A new method of refractive index measurement has been implemented, taking into account the specifics of flowing and closed cuvette arrangement, as well as the angles of incidence of laser radiation on their walls. the effect of changes in the optical density in the flowing liquid on the refractive index measurement result is determined. the results of experimental investigations of different media are presented. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing.
