DNA-based encryption with bioinformatics has emerged as a promising field for secure data storage and transfer. this study analyzes the bioinformatics aspects of DNA cryptography, focusing on important advancements and challenges. We look at techniques like DNA origami, enzymatic reactions, and DNA strand displacement that use DNA sequences to encode and decode data. Additionally discussed are the security implications of DNA-based cryptography, including privacy issues, data integrity issues, and the potential for DNA-based attacks. Finally, we outline some possible directions for further review, such as developing more robust error-correction systems, looking at cutting-edge DNA-based encryption methods using bioinformatics, and addressing the ethical and societal implications of this emerging technology. © 2025 ieee.

Since modern Biology has been transformed to a quantitative science dealing with tremendous amounts of data, the applications of information science and technology on Biology, i.e. bioinformatics, are so man), that they comprise a separate dataset needing organization and indexing for optimum search and information retrieval. Metabasis, a web-based database system for organizing and maintaining information relevant to published bioinformatics tools and databases has been developed by our group. However, such an effort requires rapid and massive information update, an issue quite difficult since the bioinformatics tools production rate is very high and there is no standard protocol in the way the), are presented in the literature. We present here a high throughput automatic retrieval procedure to keep alive a database of this kind, using certain methodology for automatic downloading, parsing and filtering data from the related literature.

In recent years the European Commission has funded an increasing number of functional genomics projects aimed at using the mouse as a model of human disease. Many of these projects are producing large data volumes. A recently funded programme, CASIMIR (Coordination and Sustainability of international Mouse Informatics Resources) aims to make recommendations on the most efficient way to integrate these datasets. In Summer 2007 CASIMIR carried out a questionnaire survey of relevant EC-funded projects to determine their current use of data integration technologies and standards. this report describes the consortium's aims, its achievements so far, the results of the survey and initial conclusions deriving from it.

BackgroundPartial Least-Squares Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA) is a popular machine learning tool that is gaining increasing attention as a useful feature selector and classifier. In an effort to understand its strengths and weaknesses, we performed a series of experiments with synthetic data and compared its performance to its close relative from which it was initially invented, namely Principal Component Analysis (PCA).ResultsWe demonstrate that even though PCA ignores the information regarding the class labels of the samples, this unsupervised tool can be remarkably effective as a feature selector. In some cases, it outperforms PLS-DA, which is made aware of the class labels in its input. Our experiments range from looking at the signal-to-noise ratio in the feature selection task, to considering many practical distributions and models encountered when analyzing bioinformatics and clinical data. Other methods were also evaluated. Finally, we analyzed an interesting data set from 396 vaginal microbiome samples where the ground truth for the feature selection was available. All the 3D figures shown in this paper as well as the supplementary ones can be viewed interactively at http://***/plsdaConclusionsOur results highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of PLS-DA in comparison with PCA for different underlying data models.

Most of the proposed clustering approaches are heuristic in nature. As a result, it is difficult to interpret the obtained clustering outcomes from a statistical standpoint. Mixture model-based clustering has received much attention from the gene expression community due to its sound statistical background and its flexibility in data modeling. However, current clustering algorithms following the model-based framework suffer from two serious drawbacks. First, the performance of these algorithms critically depends on the starting values for their iterative clustering procedures. And second, they are not capable of working directly with very high dimensional data sets whose dimension might be up to thousands. We propose a novel normalized Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm to tackle the two challenges. the normalized EM is stable even with random initializations for its EM iterative procedure. Its stability is demonstrated through the performance comparison with other related clustering algorithms such as the unnormalized EM (the conventional EM algorithm for Gaussian mixture model-based clustering) and spherical k-means. Furthermore, the normalized EM is the first mixture model-based clustering algorithm that is shown to be stable when working directly with very high dimensional microarray data sets in the sample clusterin g problem, where the number of genes is much larger than the number of samples. Besides, an interesting property of the convergence speed of the normalized EM with respect to the squared radius of the hypersphere in its corresponding statistical model is uncovered.

the purpose of this article is to present scientific research results of Karali et al (Proceedings of 8th international conference on bioinformatics and bioengineering (BIBE), 2008, [14]), Karali et al (Inf Technol Biomed, 15(13): 381-6, 2011, [15]), Karali et al (J Biosci Med (JBM), 1: 6-9, 2013, [16]), Karali et al (Int J Comput Vis, 321-331, 1988 [24]) concerning medical imaging, especially in the fields of image reconstruction in Emission Tomography and image segmentation. Image reconstruction in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) uses the collected projection data of the object/ patient under examination. Iterative image reconstruction algorithms have been proposed as an alternative to conventional analytical methods. Despite their computational complexity, they becomemore and more popular, mostly because they can produce images with better contrast-to-noise (CNR) and signal-tonoise (SNR) ratios at a given spatial resolution, compared to analytical techniques. In Sect. 23.1 of this study we present a new iterative algorithm for medical image reconstruction, under the name Image Space Weighted Least Squares (ISWLS) (Karali et al, Proceedings of 8th international conference on bioinformatics and bioengineering (BIBE), 2008, [14]). In (Karali et al, Proceedings of 8th international conference on bioinformatics and bioengineering (BIBE), 2008, [14]) we used phantom data from a prototype small-animal PET system and the methods presented are applied to 2D sinograms. Further, we assessed the performance of the new algorithm by comparing it to the simultaneous versions of known algorithms (EM-ML, ISRA and WLS). All algorithms were compared in terms of cross-correlation coefficient, reconstruction time and CNRs. ISWLS have ISRA's properties in noise manipulation and WLS's acceleration of reconstruction process. As it turned out, ISWLS presents higher CNRs than EM-ML and ISRA for objects of different sizes.
