this paper presents issues related to implementing energy storage in a low-voltage distribution grid with many renewable sources. the purpose of the storage installation is to balance and stabilise the mains voltage. thanks to this, outages of prosumer photovoltaic installations are limited and energy from RES can be used more effectively without expanding the distribution infrastructure. the article presents the concept and operation modes of the energy storage system illustrated with the course of actual research registered during the pilot project implemented in the Ochotnica Dolna Commune in cooperation with the AGH University of Science and Technology and Tauron Dystrybucja. © 2023 ieee.

this article aims to study the digital twin and emergency response technology for rail transit operation emergencies in order to improve the safety and emergency response capabilities of rail transit systems. By establishing a digital twin model, the real-time monitoring and simulation of the operation status of rail transit systems can be achieved, providing accurate decision support. At the same time, emergency response technologies for emergencies, including warning systems, emergency response plans, and emergency rescue measures, are researched to minimize accident losses and ensure passenger safety.

the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of remote patient monitoring, particularly for those suffering from chronic illnesses. Such individuals require continuous monitoring to ensure the stability of their condition and prevent complications. However, traditional methods of patient monitoring can be invasive, time-consuming, and often result in patients feeling limited in their daily activities. the development of intelligent monitoring systems based on Internet of things technologies has the potential to revolutionize the way chronic illness is managed. these systems can be integrated with wearable/portable devices and other sensors to track vital signs in real-time. this information can then be transmitted to healthcare providers for review, allowing for early detection of any changes or potential issues. the benefits of such systems are numerous. they provide patients with increased freedom and mobility, as they no longer need to visit a healthcare facility for regular check-ups. they also reduce the workload for healthcare providers, freeing up time for more critical cases. Furthermore, they can result in cost savings for healthcare systems by reducing the need for hospitalization. this work introduces the SMART CARE project that aims to develop an integrated monitoring system consisting of hardware and software components that can make the various phases of managing a patient with chronic heart failure (prevention, diagnosis, therapy, follow-up) more efficient. the paper provides the main information on the project and presents and describes the system architecture of the proposed solution.

Current large-scale applications, such as trading systems, blockchain, social software, etc, are increasingly adopting microservice architecture, which bring challenges to manual operation and maintenance, intrusion detection. In both operations and intrusion detection, there are a common characteristic that service metrics and network traffic are normal for most of the time, but anomaly data is more important. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised anomaly detection algorithm based on convolutional neural network with Spectral Residual, which is verified experimentally and has potential application capability with 19.2% f1-score improvement compared to the Variational AutoEncoder.

the ability for books to talk would be an exciting concept, and this research discussion paves the path for an identical approach. the research objectives discussed in this paper address several burning problems, solve them and adapt them to future technological enhancements from a Sri Lankan context. Burning problems include reducing printing costs for textbooks, addressing students’ health, promoting green technology, and identifying a suitable summarising approach to the native language, Sinhala resulting in students’ learning ease. Other symptoms for the betterment indicate paths taken to reduce the weight of school bags carried by students, reduce paper usage by the government on printing textbooks, and spread technological awareness to teenagers regarding e-Learning. Textbooks issued by the government will be digitized and centralized into a single system that the government officials themselves can administer. the paper discusses limited hindsight literature and proposes 2 new algorithms for abstractive and extractive summarization for Sinhala text. the 2 algorithms are compared against one another in terms of performance, efficiency, precision and accuracy. Experts in the education domain have verified the derived summary of both algorithms. the deliverable artefacts are the mobile application, a RESTful auto-summarization plugin service, and new data sets extracted to train the GPT-3 models.

Verification is an important part of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) design flow which currently takes a considerable amount of time. During the synthesis process, Different optimizations are done to the Register-Transfer-Level (RTL) code to optimize the power, area, and speed of the circuit. these optimizations result in changes in the names of signals at the gate level. Automatic signal mapping can improve the verification process and can be used to guide functional verification activities between the two presentations using (Clock domain crossing (CDC) analysis in RTL, Gate Level CDC) as well as Formal Sequential Equivalence Checking. Machine Learning has applications everywhere in our lives, and EDA is not an exception. Machine Learning can help EDA tools optimize their results by learning from their previous choices which would improve their results. Machine Learning can help in decreasing the amount of time used in the verification process and increase productivity. In this paper, we discuss the methods used in the signal correlation, propose a modification to one of them as well as present a new technique using Machine Learning to solve the problem of signal correlation between the RTL and the gate level. © 2021 ieee

Given the cursive structure of the writing and the similarity in shape of the letters, Telugu handwritten character identification is an interesting topic. the lack of Telugu-related handwritten datasets has slowed the development of handwritten word recognizers and forced researchers to compare various approaches. Modern deep neural networks find it difficult because they often need hundreds or thousands of photos per class. It has been demonstrated that learning important aspects of machine learning systems can be computationally expensive and challenging when there is a limited amount of data available. this research analysis work proposes a use case on the pre-existing model called EfficientNet and on top of that a custom pooling layer is added to check the trend as the dataset size increases of Telugu characters. the dataset has been divided into three categories, namely, Vowels only dataset, Consonant only dataset, and All character dataset. Proposed model was trained with a considerable amount of dataset containing half a thousand of handwritten Telugu characters and has produced some fascinating results which were worth observing. the accuracies had followed a certain trend. the model was tested on the dataset collected, which were filtered out to record any performance improvement and improvement was observed, where average accuracy went from 55% to 92%.

this paper focuses on minimizing energy consumption by servers in data centers. Server’s energy consumption can be impacted by numerous factors, such as the number of connected devices, the workload being processed, and the energy efficiency of the *** energy consumption can be serious because of several reasons as it can impact the reliability of servers because high temperatures generated by energy consumption can lead to hardware failure and other technical issues. therefore, reducing energy consumption in servers is important for improving the cost-effectiveness, sustainability, scalability, and reliability of data center operations. A type of reinforcement learning called Deep Q-Learning (DQL) can be used to address issues with server energy consumption. the basic idea behind DQL is to train an artificial agent, such as a neural network, to make decisions about energy consumption in real time. the agent is trained by frequently performing actions in a setting and earning rewards depending on the amount of energy consumed by specific actions. Over time, the agent learns which actions are most likely to lead to energy savings, and it can then be deployed to make real-time decisions about energy consumption in a server. Experimental results of the proposed research show an average of 66% power saving in the server’s consumption of energy using Deep Q-Learning (DQL).

Human beings have the ability to identify a particular event occurring in a surrounding based on sound cues even when no visual scenes are presented. Sound events are the auditory cues that are present in a surrounding. Sound event detection (SED) is the process of determining the beginning and end of sound events as well as a textual label for the event. the term sound source localization (SSL) refers to the process of identifying the spatial location of a sound occurrence in addition to the SED. the integrated task of SED and SSL is known as Sound Event Localization and Detection (SELD). In this proposed work, three different deep learning architectures are explored to perform SELD. the three deep learning architectures are SELDNet, D-SELDNet (Depthwise Convolution), and T-SELDNet (Transpose Convolution). Two sets of features are used to perform SED and Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) estimation tasks in this work. D-SELDNet uses a Depthwise convolution layer which helps reduce the model’s complexity in terms of computation time. T-SELDNet uses Transpose Convolution, which helps in learning better discriminative features by retaining the input size and not losing necessary information from the input. the proposed method is evaluated on the First-order Ambisonic (FOA) array format of the TAU-NIGENS Spatial Sound Events 2020 dataset. An improvement has been observed as compared to the existing SELD systems with the proposed T-SELDNet.

Roadside-based multiple object tracking(MOT) is a crucial and fundamental research field in computer vision, providing abundant information for autonomous driving and intelligent transportation systems. However, in real-world tracking applications, frequent movements of traffic participants and variations in lighting conditions caused by different weather conditions pose significant challenges for roadside tracking. To overcome these challenges, we propose an online one-shot framework for roadside multiple object tracking, called ROMOT. we firstly propose the DLA-SA network in order to efficiently extract vehicle features. In addition, we introduce a fusion matrix called EC matrix and leverage low score detection information through a cascade matching method to address the correlation problem of long-term lost trajectories. We conduct experiments on the UA-DETRAC dataset to evaluate the performance of ROMOT, where ROMOT achieves a remarkable MOTA of 71.0% for the tracked objects, while maintaining an inference speed of 25Hz, meeting the real-time requirements.
