Deep learning models excel at computer vision tasks, but they require a lot of memory and computation power. thermal image classification has gained popularity due to the robustness of this modality in the face of adverse weather and lighting conditions. Images from both visible and/or thermal modalities, on the other hand, must frequently be processed in memory constrained environments, such as embedded edge applications. We propose a novel cross-modal constrastive learning model with a novel objective function that learns and averages mappings from both visible and thermal modalities into a shared embedding space for cross-modal data clustering and classification. A lightweight architecture is used to generate embedding from images in both modalities, and the proposed algorithm yields cross-modal centroids that can be efficiently used for clustering and classification in either modality. We demonstrate the model's accuracy by running experiments on a dataset that contains both thermal and visible counterparts of the same objects. © 2023 ieee.

Molecular communication (MC) conveys information via chemical signals between nanomachines, which lays the foundation for the Internet of Bio-Nano things. Based on the fact that probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS) enables reliable communication by improving energy efficiency, in this paper, we propose molecular shell mapping (MSM) to implement PCS for MC systems. the MSM method employs the concentration se-quences with the lowest sum sequence weight to construct energy-efficient signal constellations, and designs a sorting principle for sequences with the same sequence weight to mitigate inter-symbol interference (ISI). We design a Genie-aided maximum-likelihood (ML) detector and a realistic ML detector to leverage the constructive effect of ISI from the current concentration sequence, and derive their achievable rates. Numerical simulation results confirm that the shaped signaling using the MSM method is more energy-efficient than the equiprobable signaling, achieving an up to 1.5 dB gain at an ultra-short blocklength. © 2023 ieee.

Effective communication is a vital means of conveying ideas, yet language barriers often pose significant challenges for individuals and groups conversing in different languages and dialects. these challenges can result in misunderstandings and misinterpretations due to a lack of clarity in expression. Current Ilocano-English translation systems provide some assistance. However, they struggle with translating Ilocano accurately, especially when the input includes sentences with a higher number of words. To address this issue, our study developed a translator using the Seq2Seq model with Luong Attention Mechanism and employs Neural Machine Translation techniques. the developed translator application achieved notable results with an accuracy of 43.95% for English to Ilocano translation and 81.25% accuracy for Ilocano to English translation, along with a BLEU score of 2.50 and 15.42 across all n-gram levels (1-4 words), respectively. these findings contribute to bridging language barriers and enhancing cross-linguistic communication. © 2023 ieee.

Lightning is a very significant occurrence that exists on earth. One stroke of lightning on a distribution network can be enough to be the root of a power outage. therefore, this study examines and investigates the consequences of lightning and surge arresters in the power distribution system. A lightning surge is designed to examine consequences on a network. the metal oxide surge arrester (MOSA) performance illustration is pointedly diverse during significant impulse transients are considered. the MOSA is selected after comparing the shielding stages, momentary overvoltage, and power captivation competency. Picking a greater valued surge arrester raises its momentary overvoltage scope. Hence, its capability to endure against network voltage pressures develops but decreases the arrester's safety level for a specified shielding range. However, for the fast front surge arrester, its vital features are important for overvoltage related investigations relating quick front surges. Lightning surge and surge arrester simulation were carried out in the PSCAD software environment to investigate the effects of lightning and surge arresters in the distribution system. this study's simulation results indicate the significance and requirement of lightning defense systems installation in distribution networks. © 2023 ieee.

the monolithic network architectures are used in Bitcoin and other big cryptos. Different hierarchical ways to protect the decentralized blockchain have been discussed to improve its usability. However, no debate in the literature on how an appropriate shard size can be calculated to optimize the output and how deceptive or unreliable nodes can affect the optimum shard size range. this study includes an exchange and authentication scheme for hierarchical blockchain architecture in order to fix these issues. the hierarchy splits the network nodes into many disjoint fragments, with most transfers unregulated between these shards. Taking into account the performance and precision of the transaction validation in the case of malicious or defective nodes, the optimum shard size is calculated. It ensures that most of the good shards are available with the right scale, according to the highest acceptable threshold of defective nodes. It also offers a method to distinguish damaged shards by overlapping a tiny proportion of purchases across all shields and discarding all transactions. the theoretical efficiency analysis and the influence of network sharing on performance were based on experimental findings conducted on Amazon EC-2 nodes. © 2023 ieee.

Denoising images is widely used in applications from critical medical systems to software based image enhancement in our cell phones. the natural noise is simulated by adding noise to an image in random pixels. Currently the denoising problem can be solved in either with greedy algorithm or by deep learning techniques. In this paper we are discussing the usage of Autoencoders a deep learning technique to solve the problem of denoising. Autoencoders use down-sampling and up-sampling techniques to remove the unwanted noise from an *** using Encoders we compress the image gradually to remove the tiny details like noise using convolution layers and ReLU as activation function. the compressed images are fed to Decoders, the decoder up-samples the image bit-by-bit till the image reaches the original resolution, while up-sampling the tiny details like human hair or tiny speckles on face are restored without trying to bring back the noisy pixels. To train the proposed model we used FFHQ-Face dataset which consists of 70 thousand images of 128x128 resolution, each image is a face of and unique individual. the output of the neural network is a denoised image with PSNR of above 35, which maximum achieved compared to other pre-trained models. © 2023 ieee.

In the current day and age, systems that aid in carrying out tasks traditionally performed by human assistants are becoming more popular as human operators need more time for executing queries such as booking a ticket, purchasing items, or obtaining services. A single request may comprise many inquiries for information available on the Internet. Since business performance places a premium on time efficiency, an alternate method of accepting requests must be considered. Chatbot provides support 7 days a week, round-the-clock, and is not constrained by limited working hours. We studied various papers which approached this topic and presented their approach on creating a chatbot. Majority of the studies indicated that a retrieval-based chatbot is the best way to classify the user's context in a discussion using Utilizing Natural Language Processing (NLP) to assess the query and get some relevant keywords. Intent recognition, name entity recognition (NER) tagging, and information retrieval are essential processes in NLP. part of speech (POS) tagging helps to parse the interpretation of chat text. the rule base is intended to gather all keywords based on conversation content and is language-specific. the terms used in the booking dialogue include the date, time, city, scheduling, rescheduling, or cancellation of an appointment. In this paper, we have presented a review of the current systems, their advantages, and drawbacks. © 2023 ieee.

Sensor-based human activity recognition (S-HAR) is a famous study focusing on detecting human physiological actions by interpreting various sensors, especially one-dimensional time series information. Typically, S-HAR machine learning methods were developed using handcrafted characteristics. Unfortunately, this is a complicated process that involves feature engineering and a high level of domain knowledge. Due to the development of deep neural networks, classification techniques could efficiently handle relevant characteristics from raw sensor data, resulting in enhanced classification outcomes. In this study, we describe a unique method for S-HAR based on ensemble deep learning with sensor nodes connected to the waist, chest, leg, and arm. Implementing and training three deep learning networks is performed using a publically available dataset, including wearable sensors from eight human actions. the findings demonstrate that the proposed Ens-ResNeXt model provides the maximum accuracy and F1-score, which is superior to existing techniques. © 2023 ieee.

In this paper, we present the LCCEN, a novel lightweight and crisp curve extraction network. By leveraging two state-of-the-art approaches, the LCCEN achieves comparable performance to heavy architectures, while requiring less than 4% of the parameters of existing methods. the proposed architecture delivers superior performance when compared to lightweight models, which typically contain fewer than one million parameters, by generating finer curve edge maps. We present a comprehensive analysis of the curves datasets by providing both qualitative and quantitative extraction results and compare the performance of LCCEN with state-of-the-art models. Moreover, LCCEN is designed without relying on pre-trained weights and has simple hyperparameter settings. © 2023 ieee.

the price of renewable energy equipment is dropping as technology develops, which has led to a sharp rise in solar photovoltaic (PV) installation. Most of these are located in difficult-to-reach places like rooftops and deserts. In order to monitor such installations remotely via wide area networks, it needs sophisticated equipment. the operation, maintenance and monitoring of the plant may be significantly improved by employing the Internet of things (IoT) technology. the IoT opens the way for merging the physical world with computer-based systems, allows things to be detected or remotely controlled through existing networks, and evolves to increase accuracy, productivity, and economic profit while minimizing human participation. the design of an IoT-based monitoring system for PV power generation applications is discussed in this research. the sensors are accurately linked to the central controller, which monitors the load and panel. As a result, the user can see the voltage and current. this will make problem identification, real-time monitoring, historical research of the facility, and preventative maintenance simpler. © 2023 ieee.
