the cooling system is one of the essential systems for the normal operation of vehicle engine. this article takes a 1.5L naturally aspirated vehicle model as the prototype, a simplified simulation model is established by using Amesim software. And the performance of engine cooling system is simulated under extremely cold and normal temperature conditions. In addition, the effects of multiple influencing factors such as water pump transmission ratio, radiator row number, and radiator windward area are further analyzed on cooling performance under normal temperature conditions. the simulation results show that the radiator row number has a significant impact on the performance for the cooling system, the water pump transmission ratio and radiator windward area also play an important role. the research in this article is beneficial for early development of the cooling system components influencing factors in projects. It can enable the product development team to quickly develop and select optimal solution schemes. that is to say the design cycle of the cooling system can be greatly shorten, and the research in this article has certain engineering application value. © 2023 SPIE.

this article describes how the authors apply and implement teaching methods using design thinking approaches to train in IoT (Internet of things). the purpose of this study is to determine how well of design thinking with IoT topics to teachers and students, and how we could improve teaching or coaching strategies. Participants in this study are the researcher as the trainers, 20 to 30 teachers from different schools and 20 to 30 on each high school student (Grade 9 to Grade 12) as the trainee perform group projects. By collecting observations from trainee's activity outcome on each step of design thinking approach to deliver problem solving projects with IoT, the researcher applies narrative analysis to interpret patterns or characters on each activity. Each approach involved with activities which develop teachers or students to make their own learning and understanding problem and complete their IoT prototype projects within 4-5 days. Not only electronics devices and embedded systems and programming are used but also recycled materials. LEGO alike blocks are setup for learning activities corresponded to levels of students and available school resources. Different sets of learning activities in this article are adjusted attributable to education levels and individual school resources. From the analysis after the trainings, the conclusion shows how the researcher can improve by applying appropriate hardware/software in learning activities on different education levels and apply the design thinking more efficiently in teaching or coaching teachers and student in schools. © 2023 ieee.

Lane marking detection is a necessary system in autonomous vehicles as well as a challenging one to develop. It forms the basis for intelligent systems in autonomous vehicle driving and has always been a concern in the field of computer vision, especially in perception systems. In fact, there are a lot of machine learning methods used for lane marking detection including CNN-based lane marking detection with various models and datasets for model training. In this research, a lane marking detection method based on instance segmentation is presented. the proposed method is trained using the TUSimple dataset. the lane marking detection results are then classified into 2 types of classes i.e., solid and dashed lines based on training using deep learning with the same dataset. Furthermore, the proposed lane marking detection and classification method is conducted in real experiments in urban area at Bandung, Indonesia. the method gives a promising result as it can well-classified the lanes with more than 70% accuracy. © 2023 ieee.

Chatbots are becoming increasingly popular as human-computer interfaces or robots. Virtual assistants, such as chatbots, have exploded in popularity in recent years thanks to breakthroughs in areas like machine learning, artificial intelligence, and even more fundamental technologies like neural networks and natural language processing. the Aswaja chatbot application is an application that supports strengthening Islamic character for the young generation of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). this Aswaja chatbot will make it easier for Muslims, especially millennials, to obtain valid and trustworthy references on religious issues that are in accordance with the teachings of Ahlussunah wal Jamaah. the widespread use of chatbots must be followed by ongoing evaluation to determine the effectiveness and ensure the continued use of the Aswaja chatbot application. this research aims to conduct an evaluation of the Aswaja chatbot application. this study used the System Usability Scale to assess how user-friendly the Aswaja chatbot application was. With a SUS Score of 64,037, we can confidently say that this value falls into the Good category of the final adjective rating score indication, the D category of the grade scale, and the marginal high category of the acceptability ranges. © 2023 ieee.

Binary neural network (BNN) is widely used in speech recognition, image processing and other fields to save memory and speed up computing. However, the accuracy of the existing binarization scheme in the realistic dataset is obviously low, and the input layer uses 32-bit floating point to avoid excessive precision loss, which requires additional computing units and increases the computational burden. therefore, it is very important to improve the input layer, save computing resources and reduce precision loss. In this paper, we propose a parallel convolution binary neural network accelerator architecture (PC-BNA). Based on our proposed BNN model, we design an efficient field programmable gate array (FPGA) based accelerator. the input of the first layer is binarized, the traditional binary convolution layer is replaced by a parallel binary convolution, and the network building blocks are improved. the experimental results show that the proposed PC-BNA has higher accuracy and better performance on CIFAR-10. the image recognition accuracy is as high as 91.4%, which is superior to the state-of-art of the BNN accelerator. Compared to the state-of-the-art BNN model, when using the same model size, the use of look-up-table (LUT) saves 9.08%, and the digital signal processor (DSP) saves 27.7%. the results suggest that it is promising for PC-BNA in future high performance mobile artificial intelligence applications. © 2022 ieee.

the proposed work is a real-time implementation in Python for air-writing using algorithms like media pipe hands and easy OCR. Air writing has emerged as one of the most difficult study fields in image processing and pattern recognition in recent years. Air writing is the act of using one’s hands or fingers to scribble letters or words in a clear area. the proposed work aims at the implementation of a contactless gesture recognition software which uses an air canvas which sums up as providing an image input to the machine via a camera device, while the machine processes it and gives a delineated digital output of the work in real time, features such as optical character recognition, screenshot, and duplication will be an added attempt at closing the gap of limitations. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2023.

Literature mining can help researchers quickly grasp the current development of the relevant scientific fields. For the material literature in PDF format, a method is proposed to intercept a single curve graph and recognize the names of its coordinate axis entities. the method first uses Yolov5s and PDFminer to obtain the images and text contents of the single curve graph of the literature, and matches the graphs and their corresponding titles. then it uses cosine similarity and Jaccard similarity as indicators to find the description statement of the corresponding graph in the text as expanded text. Finally, the title and the expanded text are stitched together as the new input text, and Sci-Bert is used to generate dynamic vector encoding, and CRF is used to predict the label sequence with maximum probability to obtain the entity name. It is demonstrated that the proposed method can effectively truncate the curve graph in the literature and identify the corresponding axis entity names. Moreover, the NER based on the expanded text also outperforms the original model by 4% on the customized dataset. © 2023 ieee.

the data-driven development of materials is currently one of the research hotspots and is considered the fourth paradigm in material research, enabling rapid material development. As a data-driven approach, machine learning relies heavily on feature selection, which can construct the most relevant feature set from a large number of features, providing more accurate models for research. Scientific literature, as an important way to showcase research achievements, contains valuable data. In this paper, a property prediction method that integrates literature mining and crossed feature selection is proposed, which can fully utilize the information in literature and address the issues of limited data and redundant features in data-driven material development. Named entity recognition and image processing techniques are used to mine material composition and tensile strength from literature text and tables, and the crossed feature compression and selection method is used to screen the expanded material composition features in the XenonPy materials informatics library. Finally, using the Extreme Gradient Boosting, a tensile strength prediction model is trained on the selected features and tensile strength data. the highest R2 for experiments with data from the National Institute for Materials Science is 0.6671, indicating an improvement of 11.42%. this demonstrates that the proposed method can significantly improve model prediction performance and literature mining can provide strong support for material development. © 2023 ieee.

the unprecedented rise in the number of new coronavirus infections worldwide has prompted many researchers to use mathematical and machine-learning-based prediction models to predict future epidemic patterns that will help governments, health service providers, and society understand how to deal with this situation. Using different machine learning methodologies helps researchers to understand the trend curve clearly. these may lead to a better and more effective fight against the epidemic and reduce or end preventive measures, allowing people to return to their everyday lives. this study is based on an analysis of COVID-19 data of KSA. Also, it demonstrates the prediction of the new confirmed cases and death of COVID-19 in the next ten days from 8th July in KSA, which is considered the period of the performing Hajj in 2021. It uses machine learning models such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Bayesian Edge (BR), Linear Regression (LR), and Moving Average (MA). Each model provides two types of predictions: the number of newly infected cases and deaths over the next 10 days. the results indicate that SVM and MA forecasts have high accuracy, followed by LR which performs well. the BR performs poorly in forecast scenarios when applied with the available data set in forecasting new confirmed cases. All models were accurate in predicting mortality, with the best performing model being SVM, followed by MA, LR, and BR. It also expects an increase in confirmed cases under the SVM model scenario to 511, 257 on 17th July from 496, 516 on 7th July in the actual daily cumulative cases. the number of deaths will rise to 8, 113 on 17th July from 7, 921 on 7th July in actual cumulative daily data. © 2021 ieee.

Convolutional neural network (CNN) has been broadly adopted on hyperspectral image (HSI) processing due to its impressive feature extraction capabilities. Nevertheless, it is still a challenge for CNN-based hyperspectral image classification methods to extract more effective spectral-spatial features considering all spectral bands. the recent advances of graph convolutional neural networks (GCN), a combination of CNN and graph representation learning, have shown great potential in the HSI. However, the existing GCN-based methods have lower accuracy than the mature CNN methods due problems such as overdependence on the adjacency matrix, usage of a single modal feature. In this paper, we propose the Multi-Feature Fusion Residual Hypergraph Convolution Network (MF-RHCN) for HSI classification. We present a novel Hypergraph Convolution Network that fuses multimodal features effectively, and automatically updates the hyperedge weights, which solves the difficulties encountered by the previous GCN-based hyperspectral classification methods. MF-RHCN first generates hyperedges from features of different modalities to construct a hypergraph representing multimodal features in HSI. then, the HSI and the extracted hypergraph are input into the hypergraph convolutional neural network for learning. We enhance the hypergraph convolutions with residual connection and input mapping, which helps reduce the over-smoothing issue associated with deep hypergraph models. Sufficient experiments on three datasets have proved the effectiveness of MF-RHCN. © 2023 ieee.
