In the realm of edge intelligence, emerging video analytics applications are often based on resource constrained edge devices. these applications need systems which are able to provide both low-latency and high-accuracy video stream processing, such as for object detection in real-time video streams. State-of-the-art systems tackle this challenge by leveraging edge computing and cloud computing. Such edge-cloud approaches typically combine low-latency results from the edge and high accuracy results from the cloud when processing a frame of the video stream. However, the accuracy achieved so far leaves much room for improvement. Furthermore, using more accurate object detection often requires having more capable hardware. this limits the edge devices which can be used. Applications related to autonomous drones, withthe drone being the edge device, give one example. A wide variety of objects needs to be detected reliably for drones to operate safely. Drones with more computing capabilities are often more expensive and suffer from short battery life, as they consume more energy. In this paper, we introduce VATE, a novel edge-cloud system for object detection in real-time video streams. An enhanced approach for edgecloud fusion is presented, leading to improved object detection accuracy. A novel multi-object tracker is introduced, allowing VATE to run on less capable edge devices. the architecture of VATE enables it to be used when edge devices are capable of running on-device object detection frequently and when edge devices need to minimise on-device object detection to preserve battery life. Its performance is evaluated on a challenging, dronebased video dataset. the experimental results show that VATE improves accuracy by up to 27.5% compared to the state-of-theart system, while running on less capable and cheaper hardware.

object detection is an important computer vision task in digital images for a specific class of phenomena (such as people, animals or ball-type objects). To improve the accuracy of small object detection for high-speed moving balls in sports fields, we researched and tested a small object detection model based on the YOLOv8 algorithm. the YOLO algorithm based on deep learning is fast and accurate in operation, making it suitable for real-time systems. On the basis of the original algorithm, we carried out algorithm fusion and parameter adjustments, added a small object detection head to enhance the capability for detecting small objects, incorporated an attention mechanism to increase the precision of object detection, and achieved ball detection in complex backgrounds on the sports field, which played a guiding role in the switching of broadcast camera angles.

Workload traces play a crucial role in the design and evaluation of storage systems. they are used for evaluating system performance and optimizing aspects such as data access speeds, energy consumption, and load balancing. Most publicly available traces were collected in cloud environments, which limits their ability to represent workloads in user-centric and highly disaggregated settings such as edge systems. In this paper, we present WoW-IO, an open-source object trace generator based on the popular video game 'World of Warcraft'. WoW-IO uses, as input, logs of in-game avatar information from the game's servers. We describe the principles and assumptions used in the design of WoW-IO, how the generated traces can be used to evaluate various aspects of an edge storage-system design, and how the trace format can be extended to reflect additional details and complex usage scenarios.
the results of the experiments show that dataset size has a substantial impact on the accuracy of deep learning applications. For example, the Single Shot Detector (SSD) MobileNetV2 architecture, when trained on a dat...

In order to actively and effectively manage the public opinion needs triggered by enterprise environmental emergencies, exploring the related factors that affect the heat of enterprise environmental emergencies can help enterprises to scientifically deal with public opinion crisis and control the negative effects of network public opinion on enterprises. Using the system dynamics modeling method, this paper studied the dynamic behavior of the evolution process of network public opinion of enterprise environmental emergencies from the four dimensions of netizens, media, government and enterprises. this paper simulates and analyzes the evolution model of network public opinion with Vensim PLE. the research results show that the evolution of network public opinion on enterprise environmental emergencies generally presents a cyclical process of four stages: gestation, shock, adjustment and adaptation, and end. Variables such as public sentiment, response speed, information transparency, and enterprise disclosure channel preference gap all have a greater impact on the dissemination of network public opinion on enterprise environmental emergencies.

We present initial results of developing an autonomous wheelchair, which is a more complex task due to the nature of the vehicle, the environments in which it operates and the large number and types of obstacles that it must handle. Determining the free space is a fundamental underline to the navigation in unknown environments. In this paper we present results in sensor fusion between a LiDAR and a camera in order to provide real-time information of object measurement required for navigation. We explored the accuracy of determining obstacles' dimensions, ground that is safe to travel and walls.

the manufacturing sector is the lifeblood of the national economy, and the improved performance of manufacturing firms provides the economic foundation for corporate innovation and transformation. Since the reform and opening up, intra-firm pay is more often linked to performance. therefore, this paper conducted correlation analysis and regression analysis on the intra-firm pay gap and corporate performance of listed Chinese manufacturing companies from 2017-2020 using STATA 17.0 software to find how the intra-firm pay gap affects corporate performance. the results show that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between the intra-firm pay gap and firm performance, i.e., an increase in the pay gap will improve firm performance before the threshold value, and after the threshold value is exceeded, the widening of the firm's pay gap will cause employee dissatisfaction and thus reduce firm performance.
