SaaS provides multi-tenant technology allowing database to share storage but coming with irregular load, untraceable transaction characteristics and so on. Lock technology is important to ensure transaction concurrency control, but if multi-tenant database uses traditional granularity database locks, it will cause numerous problems because of the untraceable transaction characteristics and other reasons. To satisfy requirements in multi-tenant database, we propose TOL mechanism. It provides a lock of one granularity between the upper coarse-grained granularity and the lower fine-grained granularity for each tenant. then we establish the transaction model of multi-tenant database to give comprehensive analysis of the transaction conflict, deadlock, and throughput and lock number of TOL. Meanwhile, Cluster and Diffusion methods are proposed to support the granularity adjustment for a single tenant. Combined withthe analysis in the transaction model, a lock granularity adjustment strategy is built. It focuses on evaluating an approximate suitable granularity for one tenant between upper coarse-grained and lower fine-grained. In addition, we give experiments indicating that the performance of TOL is excellent and the lock granularity adjustment algorithm is feasible.

While cloud computing is now embraced by many organizations, its increased use in practice has led to the identification of a number of limitations. For example, security and privacy are still major roadblocks for cloud adoption, elasticity of cloud computing is not as instantaneous in practice as hyped by marketing, mobility of consumers is not yet addressed completely, etc. While some of these issues will be soon addressed by innovations from academic or industrial research, there are also important challenges that might require fundamental improvements in cloud computing. In particular, a number of consumer applications require security, dependability, or quality of service (QoS) as fundamental features that are built in from the start, instead of being "add-ons." On the other hand, the next-generation Internet communication architecture (e.g., from projects on the Internet of things, the Future Internet, etc.) will also influence cloud computing in the future. these and other challenges and opportunities will soon lead to a new generation of cloud computing systems. this EDOC 2012 discussion session will brainstorm possible features of next-generation cloud computing systems from two-directions: a) by identifying requirements and challenges for overcoming fundamental problems of the current cloud computing systems, b) by pointing out possible visionary architectures of next-generation systems. All EDOC 2012 participants are encouraged to contribute to this discussion. At the beginning of the session, the moderator will give a short introductory presentation to kick-start the discussion, but other participants can also deliver short introductory statements (previously approved by the moderator). then, an open-ended discussion will explore in more depth some of the key concerns and most provoking ideas raised by the participants. At the conclusion, some of the "to do" items for research towards next-generation cloud computing will be summarized.

enterprise Engineering is a means of applying engineering method to enterprise Architecture, developing and evolving the mapping enterprise strategy to its resources. the potential benefits of service orientation have long been considered a driver for enterprise Engineering. However, the service development discipline as a whole is still in it early stages. Do-main-specific frameworks and methodologies exist but none effectively deals withthe teleological aspects of services, generally dismissed as subjective matter. In this paper, we analyze relevant state of the art in the areas of General Systems theory, Service Science, enterprise Engineering, Value Modeling, enterprise Architecture and Business Modeling. the main shortcomings identified essentially reside in the lack of capability to model the purpose of a given service system in a structured way to guide current and future development efforts, which also implies having flexibly dealing with relativity of enterprise frontier definition. To address these issues, our research is focused on modeling different perspectives of enterprises as service systems, along three perspectives, namely construction, function and contribution. the approach presented in this paper involves 1) distinguishing the three mentioned perspectives and 2) articulating the concepts of each perspective so that an end-to-end, integrated, model is provided. the most distinguishing feature is using the concept of value proposal of a system to express the motivation that drives its development. We propose to follow an engineering approach that is grounded on social actor communication theory, taking into account the social meaning of service provisioning and consumption. Moreover, the mapping of this model to the elements that compose a system should be supported by design. To this end, both e3Value, from Value Modeling, and DEMO, from enterprise Engineering, are considered and their integration is described.

Provenance of digital scientific data is an important piece of the metadata of a data object. It can however grow voluminous quickly because the granularity level of capture can be high. It can also be quite feature rich. We propose a representation of the provenance data based on logical time that reduces the feature space. Creating time and frequency domain representations of the provenance, we apply clustering, classification and association rule mining to the abstract representations to determine the usefulness of the temporal representation. We evaluate the temporal representation using an existing 10 GB database of provenance captured from a range of scientific workflows.

Scientific discovery increasingly requires collaboration between scientific sub-domains that often have different representations for their data. To bridge gaps between varying domain representations, researchers are developing metadata and semantic representations meaningful to broader communities. through exploiting these representations we propose a logical model and architecture by which cross-domain researchers can more easily discover, use, and eventually archive, data. In this paper we present an architecture, intermediate data model, and methodology for mapping diverse social-ecological data sources stored in relational databases to a common representation, and for classifying textual data using machine learning. the results are visualized through client views that are built against the general logical model, and applied against a longitudinal database from social-ecological research.

In museum, visitors are often guided by audio guide devices, via which they will make sense of the real meaning of an artifact. Museums, now, are adopting apps to guide visitors instead of relying on certain guide devices. However, the utilizations of smart devices in museum are mainly limited to display of collection information, rather than promote visitor interactions in museum visiting and learning. In this paper, we addressed a design of visitor interactions in a museum learning scenario based on smart devices. In this visitor interaction design: firstly, visitors are able to access to proprietary information of collection in exhibition halls; secondly, they can refer to correlative information of certain museum object from online museum platform we built in our previous researches. Finally, social media groups of each collection will facilitate communication between visitors and museum professionals in real time when visitors are puzzle by something that's relevant to some artifacts in an exhibition.

the Internet of things (IoT) is a promising theme of research. Covering subjects from micro-electronic to social sciences with a major field in computing, network and telecommunication. It is judged as the future of the today's Internet. the main idea is to benefit from an ambient intelligence instantiated by objects assisting humans in their daily tasks. One has already imagined use cases and challenging projects in separate areas, but challenge often means performances and requires expensive specific implementations or technologies. Paradoxically, this technology fragmentation starves us from a rapid growth of the IoT whereas it prevents us to be flooded by the uncharacterized traffic it would generate [1]. Intersecting three domains of research that are Systems Monitoring and Management, Ubiquitous computing and Cognitive Radio, we introduce our ongoing work on a new transversal use case called Ubiquitous Cognitive Systems Management (UCSM) to tackle this paradox and originate the chatty object concept.

DIES system for designing and improving enterprise business scenarios is proposed. Such scenarios are executed and monitored in an SOA environment. Many metrics are gathered, and strong/weak aspects are pointed out. DIES allows the improvement of a scenario's performance, quality, and usability. Due to technology-agnostic API the system supports any extensible business scenario technology, and it utilizes WS-BPEL standard and Apache ODE as its execution engine. A representative case study is considered, and evaluation and modification of the scenario is discussed.
