this experiment focuses on employing machine learning techniques to create an automated system for classifying palm leaf manuscripts into three distinct categories based on their degradation levels: good, bad, and medium. the study collects a wide range of palm leaf samples at different degradation levels. Using advanced machine learning algorithms and an efficient feature extraction method, a model is created that accurately classifies palm leaves by level of degradation. the research incorporates Gabor feature extraction and statistical classifiers to train the extracted features. the classifiers used are k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), Logistic Regression (LR), Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (DT), Naive Bayes (NB), XG Boost (XGB), and Ada Boost (AB). After employing SMOTE, normalization, and feature selection, RF obtained the highest mean accuracy of 87.25% and a standard deviation of 0.08 in comparison with the other classifiers. © ifip international Federation for Information Processing 2025.

To address the critical challenge of pupil segmentation accuracy in medical image analysis, this paper proposes an innovative pupil segmentation method based on an enhanced TransUNet deep neural network. the proposed architecture introduces three key improvements: a novel multi-kernel self-selective attention mechanism that optimizes local feature extraction through weighted fusion of different convolution modules;a modified cross-attention Transformer that enables efficient parallel processing of spatial information in both horizontal and vertical dimensions;and an advanced feature fusion module that effectively integrates global and local information through multi-scale feature weighting. Extensive experiments on the OpenEDS dataset demonstrate the method's superior performance, achieving state-of-the-art results with average precision of 97.7%, average recall of 97.41%, and average Dice coefficient of 98.15%. these significant improvements in segmentation accuracy not only advance the field of medical image analysis but also provide a robust foundation for applications in ophthalmological diagnosis, human-computer interaction, and cognitive science research. the proposed methodology offers valuable insights into designing efficient attention mechanisms for medical image segmentation tasks, contributing to both theoretical understanding and practical applications in healthcare imaging systems. © 2025 SPIE.

the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, based on a bacterial immune mechanism, offers precise DNA editing techniques for gene therapy, disease treatment, and improved agricultural crops. this paper reviews the various aspects of the technology and outlines how a bioinformatics tool that combines sequence retrieval, characteristics analysis, and user interaction can be used create a systematic framework for building guide RNAs for CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing. the tool, built using Python and Streamlit, allows users to enter in the DNA sequence of choice, and automatically extract guide RNAs that can potentially be used for gene editing. then, based on user inputs, it then ranks the extracted sequences from least compatible to most compatible for the user's purpose. © 2024 IEEE.

Classifying facial expressions is a crucial computer vision task having applications in security systems, emotion identification, and human-computer interaction. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have displayed outstanding success in tasks involving the recognition of facial emotions because of their ability to learn hierarchical features from images. this study presents a CNN-based method for classifying facial expressions that makes use of transfer learning and data augmentation strategies to increase the model's generalizability and precision. this study has obtained a classification accuracy of 97.22% using an online dataset comprising 28079 face photos tagged with seven emotions (angry, disgust, fear, happy, neutral, sad, and surprise). the proposed findings show that CNNs are efficient at classifying facial expressions and may be applied to the design and development of reliable and accurate facial expression identification systems. © 2023 IEEE.

this paper introduces an innovative method specifically created for identifying and understanding fixed hand movements that represent symbols in American Sign Language (ASL). With the goal of improving communication and learning for those with hearing and speaking difficulties, this system is exceptionally useful for the deaf community to interact with technology. Utilizing the widespread use of ASL as a widely accepted form of communication, the system primarily concentrates on recognizing and converting static hand gestures that correspond to ASL letters into written output. Furthermore, it also includes the ability to convert text to speech, adding to its functionality. At the heart of our groundbreaking approach is the use of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) on still images of the ASL alphabet to accurately detect gestures. By utilizing the power of PCA to identify crucial elements, our system can effectively classify input images and provide accurate recognition of the corresponding ASL alphabet. this output is then presented as text, and can even be transformed into speech, making it a comprehensive tool for individuals with hearing and speech impairments to seamlessly communicate through computer technology. Significantly, this system eliminates the requirement for extra data collecting tools, making it more convenient for users. the strong recognition of ASL gestures, along with the ability to convert those gestures into text and sound, empowers those who are deaf or hard of hearing to effectively communicate through technology. © ifip international Federation for Information Processing 2025.

Recognition of human activities has drawn a lot of interest lately in the field of computer vision and machine learning. Group activity recognition is a significant subcategory in which several people participate in a common activity. the primary obstacle in these tasks is learning the relationships between individuals in a scene and understanding their evolution over time. the suggested study offers a new taxonomy to classify state-of-the-art (SOTA) group activity recognition approaches and subcategorizes the current literature. It also critically analyzes these techniques. To understand scenes involving multiple people, models must describe individual actions in context and infer collective activities. Accurately capturing relationships between actors and performing relational reasoning is crucial for comprehending group activities. However, modelling these relationships is challenging due to the limited availability of interaction information, relying only on individual action labels and collective activity labels. Inferring relationships from other aspects is thus essential. Group activity recognition has garnered increased research attention recently due to its importance in video understanding. the difficulties lie not only in recognizing individual actions but also in exploring scene information and collaborative relations among people. this research addresses these challenges by providing a comprehensive review of existing techniques, offering a structured approach to categorize them, and highlighting the importance of relational reasoning in understanding group activities. © 2024 IEEE.

this study introduces a new approach for producing a Digital Twin (DT) of the interactive space. Our method cover interactivity regarding the interaction of human as the user with the Environment. We specifically design our method at room levels of a building. We aim to go through the whole process of developing DT from the representation, replication, and reality standpoint of the real world and digital counterpart. To encourage the adoption and advancement of DT to create interactive spaces, the approach offers asset management practitioners, legislators, and researchers a clear road map and highlights specific DT research initiatives. Based on the 4Rs (Representation, Replication, Reality, and Relational) paradigm of Digital Twins, we assess our DT capacity. this study aims to demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed methodology in meeting the Reality level of the 4Rs framework. © 2023 IEEE.

In this article, we review the vision-based human pose estimation (HPE) methods in the past decades. human pose estimation is the connection of all detected human body keypoints according to their interdependencies to form a structure similar to the skeleton. Furthermore, human posture is utilized in a wide variety of computer vision tasks, for instance, learning, sports, medical and human-computer interaction. Due to partial occlusion, noise problems, scale changes, and complex backgrounds, HPE remains an important issue for sustainable discussion and development. To obtain human posture from signals or perform behavioural analysis on the human body, HPE uses a variety of methods, including various transformer models and CNN models. Our methods are among them which in CNN module. Specifically, our EHPE and EDE achieve 79.1AP and 78.5AP on COCO dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

A project or endeavor can raise money by using a technique called crowdfunding, which involves asking a large number of people to make small donations. Centralized applications, expensive taxes, a lack of transparency, and security vulnerabilities are the platform’s current drawbacks. Blockchain is utilized to get around these constraints. this distributed database serves as a public ledger, of all completed transactions and digital events that are shared amongst involved parties. Smart contract technology is another benefit of blockchain. this platform allows users to generate funds for projects or other purposes by providing proper documentation supporting their identity. By confirming that the documents are legitimate for voting and funding, authorized individuals can donate money to the various initiatives they support. Smart contracts will forward monies gathered to the appropriate fundraisers if the majority of donors approve. When their limit is reached, they will be able to access their money using a smart contract. the blockchain keeps track of every transaction. the platform will be safer and more transparent with the use of these smart contracts. Better than the conventional apps, this offers consumers access to a fully functional and safe crowdfunding online application platform. © ifip international Federation for Information Processing 2025.
