parallel processes, by nature, tend to interchange a high amount of data between them to maintain a highly cohesive system. Nevertheless, when a parallel system is executed on a distributed computing architecture, communications over the network and the time spent by them become very important. this paper introduces a strategy, based on the Max-flow min-cut theorem, to agglomerate and allocate parallel processes onto a distributed computing architecture. the main goal of the strategy is to decrease the amount of remote communications and increase the amount of local communications. the strategy allocates the processes "carefully" over the distributed nodes, and that causes the communication time of the parallel system to be minimized.

Architecture of the interconnection network has a great influence on the speed of the multi-core processor design. the main aims of any new architecture are to avoid the latency, and to decrease the cost. In this paper, we proposed new hierarchical interconnection network, in order to build fast parallel computing system. We have evaluated the static network performance of the proposed network such as: node degree, diameter, cost, arc connectivity, bisection width, and wiring complexity. the proposed topology achieved low cost and small diameter comparing to 2D-mesh, and 2D-torus topologies. As well as, it gives good results in the other static parameters. Hence, the proposed network is good solution to improve the performance, and decrease the cost of the interconnection networks for the future generation parallel computing systems. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2016.

Smart grid is an enhancement of traditional electric grid which provides two way communication and information technologies and computational facilities for data storage across all sectors of electricity to achieve efficient, secure and reliable electric system. Reliability of nation's bulk power system can be improved by incorporating an interconnection wide real time monitoring system to provide system operators a real time instant picture of power system operation. this can be achieved by incorporating cloud computing technique for performing communication between substations and power supply companies' power plants. Due to the lack of situational awareness and real time monitoring tools in India's grid major blackout occurred in nearly 8 states on 30th July 2012. To avoid this real time instant picture of power system operating conditions can be provided by using cloud computing technique with provision for storing historical data. Flexible resources and services shared in network, parallel processing are some features of cloud computing that are desirable for smart grid applications. this technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing data storage, processing and bandwidth. this paper explores the advantages of cloud computing technique over other communications techniques used to provide communication in power system various sectors.

the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) is a specialized Web transfer protocol for resource-oriented applications intended to run on constrained devices, typically part of the Internet of things. In this paper we leverage Information-Centric networking (ICN), deployed within the domain of a network provider that interconnects, in addition to other terminals, CoAP endpoints in order to provide enhanced CoAP services. We present various CoAP-specific communication scenarios and discuss how ICN can provide benefits to both network providers and CoAP applications, even though the latter are not aware of the existence of ICN. In particular, the use of ICN results in smaller state management complexity at CoAP endpoints, simpler implementation at CoAP endpoints, and less communication overhead in the network.

Mobile devices have embraced Multi-Path TCP (MPTCP) for leveraging the path diversity. MPTCP is a double-edged sword since mobile phones are suffering excessively from short battery life span. In order to find energy efficiency of MPTCP, the signal quality and the transferred file size have been taken into account. We formulate the above problem as a Markovian Decision Process (MDP) for symmetric and asymmetric network traffic. Numerical and simulation results surprisingly show that MPTCP is not efficient in any selected scenarios and the proposed scheme can save 56% of energy compared to the conventional MPTCP.

Location-based services (LBS) are services that are provided to the user according to their location. the components of an LBS needed to secure an end-to-end service successfully are: a mobile terminal; a positioning system; a communications network; and a service and data provider. In normal systems, the communication network used to transfer data and user requests to the data and service provider is the internet. therefore, if the user has no internet access, the LBS cannot be completed and the mobile operator cannot exchange data with the user. In this paper, a recommended solution is proposed whereby control channels will used instead of data channels to send the user request to and from the service and data provider. the main advantages of this solution are that the connection between the user and the data and service provider is always available especially in case of emergency.

Research on next-generation 5G wireless networks is currently attracting a lot of attention in both academia and industry. While 5G development and standardization activities are still at their early stage, it is widely acknowledged that 5G systems are going to extensively rely on dense small cell deployments, which would exploit infrastructure and network functions virtualization (NFV), and push the network intelligence towards network edges by embracing the concept of mobile edge computing (MEC). As security will be a fundamental enabling factor of small cell as a service (SCaaS) in 5G networks, we present the most prominent threats and vulnerabilities against a broad range of targets. As far as the related work is concerned, to the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first to investigate security challenges at the intersection of SCaaS, NFV, and MEC. It is also the first paper that proposes a set of criteria to facilitate a clear and effective taxonomy of security challenges of main elements of 5G networks. Our analysis can serve as a staring point towards the development of appropriate 5G security solutions. these will have crucial effect on legal and regulatory frameworks as well as on decisions of businesses, governments, and end-users.

We consider the problem of dimensioning resilient backbone networks for cloud-like scenarios where demand is to be served at one among several candidate data centers (DCs), and where that demand varies over time, which we assume to be slotted. We thus consider multi-period traffic, for which we need to find routes to both a primary DC and a backup DC (in case the primary, or the network connection towards it, fails) and account also for synchronization traffic (following its own routes) between the two chosen DCs. We propose a path formulation and adopt a column generation approach: the (restricted) master problem (RMP) selects "configurations" to use for each demand in each of the time periods, while pricing problems (PPs) construct new, potentially cost-reducing configurations for a given demand. Our model allows for several PPs to be solved in parallel, and we demonstrate the time savings achieved by doing so. We compare several anycast (re) routing strategies, where we allow traffic that spans multiple periods to either (i) not be rerouted in different periods, (ii) only change the backup DC and routes, or (iii) freely change both primary and backup DC choices and routes towards them.

One of the most serious cyber-security threats is the botnet. the botnet runs in the background of the compromised machine and maintains the communication with the C&C server to receive malicious commands. Botnet master uses botnet to launch dangerous attacks. %such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), data stealing and spamming. this paper addresses the problem of detecting P2P botnet flow records from P2P application within Netflow traces and activities in the network. We propose a technique that is capable of detecting a new P2P botnet in early stage. this technique has been evaluated with a collection of real malicious and legitimate datasets. Our algorithm preprocesses and extracts features to differentiate the botnet behavior from the legitimate behavior. the results of our experiment show a high level of accuracy and a low positive rate.

Wireless Nano sensor networks (WNSNs) are enabling advanced nanotechnology applications in the medical, industrial, biomedical, military, and environmental fields. Nano-devices communicate in the Terahertz band and provide a very large transmission bit-rate at the cost of high propagation delay resulting in a short communication distance due to Terahertz band peculiarities. thus, classical MAC protocols cannot be used. this paper proposes an energy- aware Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol for WNSNs in the Terahertz band to synchronize the nano-devices communication. the proposed communication scheme is based on a Time spread on- off keying (TS-OOK). It's also based on active transmitter nodes transmitting their packets in an interleaving way on a symbol basis to their relay receivers in the neighbour grid based on the calculated CTR value. the performance of the proposed model is analytically analysed in terms of consumed energy, probability of collisions, transmission delay and network throughput. the results show that the proposed grid based MAC can increase the transmitter throughput by efficiently utilizing the very large terahertz band.
