network Functions Virtualization (NFV) is an up-coming paradigm where network functionality is virtualized and split up into multiple building blocks that can be chained together to provide the required functionality. this approach increases network flexibility and scalability as these building blocks can be allocated and reallocated at runtime depending on demand. the success of this approach depends on the existence and performance of algorithms that determine where, and how these building blocks are instantiated. In this paper, we present and evaluate a formal model for resource allocation of virtualized network functions within NFV environments, a problem we refer to as Virtual network Function Placement (VNF-P). We focus on a hybrid scenario where part of the services may be provided by dedicated physical hardware, and where part of the services are provided using virtualized service instances. We evaluate the VNF-P model using a small service provider scenario and two types of service chains, and evaluate its execution speed. We find that the algorithms finish in 16 seconds or less for a small service provider scenario, making it feasible to react quickly to changing demand.

Low-temperature plasma(LTP) treatment was applied to stimulate the seed of alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) for better germination rates and vigor with the use of an inert gas, namely neon, at various discharge power levelsthe seed passed through a neon-plasma glowing zone between two horizontally parallel electrode plates within the glow discharge chamber of a seed processing machine with an internal 2*8 mm atmospheric pressurethe seed were treated for 20 sthe LTP-treated seeds were germinated at 20 o C in a germination chamber, and seedling emergence was evaluated at 24-h intervals for up to 10 daysLTP stimulation signi ficantly increased the germination rate and vigor versus an untreated sampleAmong ten discharge power levels, the 20 W treatment had the most signi ficant effect on the rate and vigorthe use of 20 W treatment increased the germination rate and vigor by 11 % and 22 %,respectively, relative to the controlLTP treated seeds that were stored for20 days also had higher germination vigor than those stored for 4 daysthese results suggest that the use of the LTP technique with a seed processing machine is effective and practical for the purpose of stimulating crop seeds for improved germination.

Based on the characteristics of cloud-resources belonging to the same institution and independent resource pool, we proposed a model for the complex task-resource and task-task interactions in cloud by game theory, and proved the existence of Nash equilibrium in the game. In this game model, every task selects resources by itself, rather than the resources are allocated by cloud system. We propose two cloud resource allocation game models-CT-RAG and CS-RAG. A new cloud resource allocation strategy-Group Participation Game Strategy (GPGS) is proposed based on these two game models. We also find out and analyze the equilibrium state of the game with GPGS. the theory analysis shows that GPGS can reduce the total cost of the system in the condition that all tasks/subtasks are rational. Simulation compares Nash, GPGS, Opt and "Round-Robin". the results of evaluation show that the GPGS is better. © 2014 ifip international Federation for Information Processing.

With the prevalence of virtualization and cloud computing, many real-time applications are running in virtualized cloud environments. However, their performance cannot be guaranteed because current hypervisors' CPU schedulers aim to share CPU resources fairly and improve system throughput. they do not consider real-time constraints of these applications, which result in frequent deadline misses. In this paper, we present a real-time scheduling framework in virtualized environment. In the framework, we propose a mechanism called multi-core dynamic partitioning to divide physical CPUs (PCPUs) into two pools dynamically according to the scheduling parameters of real-time virtual machines (RT-VMs). We apply different schedulers to these pools to schedule RT-VMs and non-RT-VMs respectively. Besides, we design a global earliest deadline first (vGEDF) scheduler to schedule RT-VMs. We implement a prototype in the Xen hypervisor and conduct experiments to verify its effectiveness. © 2014 ifip international Federation for Information Processing.

this paper presents the modelling and the numerical simulation results of a bidirectional DC-DC converter using modular Marx power electronic switches to be applicable in high-voltage converters. To achieve ample voltage ratio between high-voltage and low-voltage sides, the proposed DC-DC converter uses also a power electronic circuit, in the low-voltage converter side, that changes the connection between three inductors, as a series or parallel connection, to aid the energy transfer to the inductors. © ifip international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

Mobile computation offloading has been identified as a key enabling technology to overcome the inherent processing power and storage constraints of mobile end devices. To satisfy the low-latency requirements of content-rich mobile applications, existing mobile cloud computing solutions allow mobile devices to access the required resources by accessing a nearby resource-rich cloudlet, suffering increased capital and operational expenditures. To address this issue, in this paper we propose an infrastructure and architectural approach based on the orchestrated planning and operation of Optical Data Center networks and Wireless Access networks. To this end, a novel formulation based on a multi-objective Non Linear Programming model is presented that considers energy efficient virtual infrastructure planning over the converged wireless, optical network interconnecting DCs with mobile devices, taking a holistic view of the infrastructure. Our modelling results identify trends and trade-offs related to end-to-end service delay, resource requirements and energy consumption levels of the infrastructure across the various technology domains.

In recent years, botnet is one of the major threats to network security. Many approaches have been proposed to detect botnets by comparing bot features. Usually, these approaches adopt traffic reduction strategy as first step to reduce the flow to following strategies by filtering packets. With the rapid development of network hardware and software the network speed has reached to multi-gigabit. However, analyzing header and payload of every packet consumes huge amount of computational resources and is not suitable for many realistic situations. Although signature-based solutions are accurate, it is not possible to detect bot variants in real-time. In this study, we proposed a GPU-based botnet detection approach. the experimental results show that the network traffic reduction stage on GPU can achieve about 8x times over CPU based botnet detection tool. the proposed algorithm can used to improve the performance of botnet detection tools efficiently.

Current software based Content Filtering Systems are too computing intensive in large scale packets payload detection and cannot meet the performance requirements of modern networks. thus, hardware architectures are desired to speed up the detection process. In this paper, hardware based Conjoint network Content Filtering System (CNCFS) is proposed to solve the problem. In CNCFS, a TCAM based algorithm named Linking Shared Multi-Match (LSMM) is implemented, which can speed up large scale Multi-Pattern Multi-Matching greatly. Also, this system can also be used in high speed mobile networks which need to deal with the security of fast handover of mobile users. the results of performance evaluation show that our solution can provide 5 Gbps wire speed processing capability.
