this paper presents a compact design of a multiplicative inverter for elliptic curve cryptosystems. Using a methodology based on the composite field arithmetic, we propose a combinatorial solution to mitigate the usage of look up tables as commonly adopted by the conventional software based approach. In particular, we perform further isomorphism in the subfield, such that the required arithmetic are constructed using logical AND and XOR gates only. In this work, we demonstrate our proposed methodology with the field GF((2 8)41) ≅ GF((((22)2) 2)41) in optimal normal type II basis. the chosen field is both secure and results in efficient computation. An analysis of the resultant hardware complexity of our inverter is reported towards the end. © ifip international Federation for Information Processing 2012.

Wireless interference does not necessarily result in the lost of all the information of the desired signal. In this paper, we study the signature allocation in wireless networks by exploiting the retained signal feature under interference. the commonly used node signature includes MAC address and PN sequence. However, both of them take a lot of time to identify the signature when the network scale is large. We propose a novel signature allocation method based on a multi-hash policy, using a set of hash functions and a mapping-table to identify the signature. the proposed method decreases significantly both the signature identification complexity and the signature conflict probability. We implement the algorithm in GNU Radio and evaluate the performance in a testbed of three USRP nodes. the result shows that, under typical settings, multi-hash policy reduces the time cost by a factor of 100x in large scale wireless networks with very low collision probability.

We propose a context recognizing incremental adaptive network to classify user contexts. the preferred approach is to evaluate the previous insertion by the observation of the error. Because each insertion influences the local behavior, the observed error should also be a local measurement and not the average error on the task. Such an insertion-evaluation cycle allows a local optimization, but decreases the ability to allocate new nodes if the previous insertions were not successful. In a non-stationary environment with an unknown amount of data, it would cause a severe problem with gradually developing. So, in parallel to the error-driven insertion an additional distance-driven insertion is considered. the proposed method is applicable to providing context-aware services in ubiquitous environment. © 2012 AICIT.

Due to the construction and network infrastructure of wireless sensor network (WSN) are known to be vulnerable to variety of attacks. In order to ensure its functionality especially in malicious environments, security mechanisms are essential. Several works have been done to secure WSN, but identification of insider attacker has not been given much attention. In the WSN system the malicious node behavior is different from the neighbor nodes. Instead of relying the untrustworthy neighbor node we use Dempster-Shafer theory (DST) of combined evidence to identify the insider attacker in WSN. this theory reflects with the uncertain event or uncertainty as well as uncertainty of the observation. the mathematical calculation shows the DST capability of identifying the insider attacker. © ifip international Federation for Information Processing 2012.

Video applications, which include industrial uses like machine vision, object tracking, surveillance, driving aids, etc. are becoming increasingly common. these sensors produce large amounts of data, being normally compressed at the source nodes to save network bandwidth. As a side effect, video streams exhibit a large variability in their bandwidth utilization. On the other hand, many video applications are highly dynamic. For instance, a video surveillance application can meet its goals with a low frame-rate video, when the environment being monitored is static, but require an high frame-rate when the environment changes. Another example is applications that have several video sources that are activated on demand. For instance, a rear-view video camera, nowadays commonly found in cars and trucks, is only necessary during certain maneuvers. Applications like the ones presented above can be efficiently supported by enhanced Ethernet switching that provides hierarchical server-based traffic scheduling, in particular by the FTT-enabled switch [1] [2] that resulted from instantiating the FTT (Flexible Time-Triggered) communication paradigm [3] onto a customized Ethernet switch. Servers are, in fact, adequate abstractions to handle real-time video transmission since:1) servers discipline the use of the network, thus coping with the large variability of compressed video sources, 2) the adaptability, obtained by changing the servers budget, permits varying dynamically the bandwidth allocated to each video stream, 3) the reconfigurability permits enabling and disabling video-streams. We demonstrate these features with a simplified video surveillance demo, using the setup shown in Figure 1.

Reduced execution time and increased power efficiency are important objectives in the distributed execution of collaborative signal processing tasks over wireless sensor networks. the power-efficient implementation of the Fourier transform computation is an exemplar of distributed data communication and processing task widely used in the signal processing field. Past work has presented some energy-efficient in-network Fourier transform computation algorithms devised only for uniformly sampled one-dimensional (1D) sensor data. However the circumstance that sensors are randomly distributed over a 2D plane may be more practical, therefore the conventional two-dimensional Fast Fourier Transform (2D FFT) defined for data sampled on uniform grids is not directly applicable in such environments. We address this problem by designing a distributed hybrid structure consisting of local Nonequispaced Discrete Fourier Transform (NDFT) and global FFT computation. Firstly, NDFT method is applied in a suitable choice of clusters to get the initial uniform Fourier coefficients with allowable estimation error bounds. We experiment with classical linear as well as generalized interpolation methods to compute NDFT coefficients within each cluster. A separable 2D FFT is then performed over all these clusters by employing our proposed energy-efficient 1D FFT computation that reduces communication costs using a novel bit index mapping strategy for data exchanges between sensors. the proposed techniques are implemented in a SIDnet-SWANS platform to investigate the communication costs, execution time, and energy consumption. Our results show reduced execution time and improved energy consumption when compared with existing work.

Membrane computing is an emergent branch of natural computing, taking inspiration from the structure and functioning of a living cell. P systems, computing devices of this paradigm, are parallel, distributed and non-deterministic computing models which aim to capture processes taking place in a living cell and represent them as a computation. In last decade, a great variety of extensions of model, introduced by Paun in 1998, were presented. In this paper, we focus on modelling the traffic flow by the means of P systems. P systems enable mezoscopic representation of traffic flow with individual modelling of each cars behaviour. theoretical model is presented together with an XML scheme to store the output of the model.

A lot of research effort has been invested to support efficient content-based routing. Nevertheless, practitioners often fall back to far less expressive communication paradigms like multicast groups. the benefits of content-based routing in minimizing bandwidth consumption are often rendered useless by simpler communication paradigms that rely on line-rate processing of data packets at the switches of the network providers. Contrary content-based routing protocols face the inherent overhead in matching the content of events against subscriptions leading to far lower throughput rates and higher end-to-end delays. However, recent trends in networking such as software defined networking in combination with network virtualization have tremendous potential to change the picture. In our opinion this will significantly increase acceptance of sophisticated middleware like content-based routing in the future. To support our claims we outline in this paper a reference architecture that may be used to build middleware for Future Internet applications. Furthermore, we provide a solution for realizing content-based routing at line-rate relying on this reference architecture and illustrate research problems that need to be addressed. © 2012 ACM.

this work presents a novel parallel multiobjective approach based on the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm for grooming low-speed traffic requests onto high-capacity optical channels. the traffic grooming problem in mesh optical networks is an NP-hard problem, so the usage of metaheuristics and parallelism jointly for increasing the network performance is a great option in order to reduce execution times. the parallel multiobjective approach is implemented by using OpenMP. We have measured the speedup and efficiency obtained by our parallel approach with 2, 4, 8, and 16 cores. Efficient numerical results are reported in the experimental phase conducted on two optical networks. Finally, we present a comparative study with traditional methods;in which we show that the usage of swarm intelligence outperforms previous results published in the literature.

Interconnection topology inside chip multiprocessor acts as fundamental role in communication locality. Considering compiler optimization data locality has been an inmost hypothesis in the high performance computing. Conversely, data locality sphere has several troubles when its degree of dimension is two or higher. In mesh network of two dimensions, each core is connected with its four neighbors. the data locality can potentially be exploited in two dimensions considering the specified processor's perspective. A Triplet-Based Hierarchical Interconnection network (TBHIN) has straightforward topology and fractal attribute for chip multiprocessor. In this paper, a static (no contention) performance analysis of TBHIN and 2-D mesh is presented, based on the premise of locality in communication. the dynamic (contention) software simulation of TBHIN shows that the stronger the locality in communication, the lower the delay of the communication. © ifip international Federation for Information Processing 2012.
