the cloud computing is a computing paradigm that users can rent computing resources from service providers as much as they require. A spot instance in cloud computing helps a user to utilize resources with less expensive cost, even if it is unreliable. When a user performs tasks with unreliable spot instances, failures inevitably lead to the delay of task completion time and cause a seriously deterioration in the QoS of users. therefore, we propose a price history based checkpointing scheme to avoid the delay of task completion time. the proposed checkpointing scheme reduces the number of checkpoint trials and improves the performance of task execution. the simulation results show that our scheme outperforms the existing checkpointing schemes in terms of the reduction of both the number of checkpoint trials and total costs per spot instance for user's bid.

In recent years, millions of new malicious programs are produced by Pa mature industry of malware production. these programs have tremendous challenges on the signature-based anti-virus products and pose great threats on network and information security. Machine learning techniques are applicable for detecting unknown malicious programs without knowing their signatures. In this paper, a Layered Detection (LD) method is developed to detect malwares with a two-layer framework. the Low-Level-Classifiers (LLC) are employed to identify whether the programs perform any malicious functions according to the API-calls of the programs. the Up-level-Classifier (ULC) is applied to detect malwares according to the low level function identification. the LD method is compared with many classical classification algorithms with comprehensive test datasets containing 16135 malwares and 1800 benign programs. the experiments demonstrate that the LD method outperforms other algorithms in terms of detection accuracy.

Cloud security has gained increasingly emphasis in the research community, with much focus primary concentrated on how to secure the operation system and virtual machine on which cloud system runs on. We take an alternative perspective to consider the problem of building a secure cloud storage service on top of a public cloud infrastructure where the service provider is not completely trusted by the customer. So, it is necessary to put cipher text into the public cloud. We describe an architecture based on Trusted Platform Module and the client of cloud storage system to help manage the symmetric keys used for encrypting data in the public cloud and the asymmetric keys used for encrypting symmetric keys. the key management mechanism includes how to store keys, how to backup keys, and how to share keys. Based on the HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System), we put a way of key management into practice, and survey the benefits that such an infrastructure will provide to cloud users and providers, and we also survey the time cost it will bring to us.

How to manage the message passing among inter processor cores with lower overhead is a great challenge when the multi-core system is the contemporary solution to satisfy high performance and low energy demands in general and embedded computing domains. Generally speaking, the networks-on-chip connects the distributed multi-core system. It takes charge of message passing which including data and synchronization message among cores. the size of most data transmission is typically large enough that it remains strongly bandwidth-bound. the synchronization message is very small which is primarily latency bound. thus the separated networks-on-chip are needed to transmit the above two types of message. In this paper we focus on the network for the transmission of synchronization messages. A hardware module message passing unit (MPU) is proposed to manage the synchronization message passing for the heterogeneous multi-core system. Compared with the original single network approach, this solution reduces the run-time object scheduling and synchronization overhead effectively, thereby, improving the whole system performance.

Because of the dynamic and open characteristics of the cloud computing, continuing malicious attacks happen frequently. Combining the idea of trusted cloud, a trust-based defensive system model for cloud computing has been constructed to guarantee the cloud security. through real-timely monitoring, users' behavior evidences have been obtained and standardized;a new method for users' trust evaluation based on fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process, AHP) has been presented, it gradually determines the weights of behavior evidences, achieves quantitative assessment of behavioral trust;to provide great security defense for users, multiple detection engines have been used to conduct a comprehensive inspection of suspicious files and integrated decisions have been made. Experimental results show the system model can effectively eliminate the malicious behaviors from undesirable users, reduce users' damages caused by virus and achieve a two-way defense for both cloud and client.

this paper presents a novel network on Chip able to offer flexibility to multi-threaded heterogeneous traffic applications typical of massive multicore chips. It combines different switching types and data control flow protocols, allowing to reprogram on the fly the total amount of bandwidth available per switching type. In principle this can be easily performed in runtime by the introduction of simple smart hardware performance counters in order to automatically improve the quality of service.

In this letter, we propose a novel interference cancellation method which employs an iterative parallel decision feedback detector (P-DFD) with hard decisions based on minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) for multiuser-MIMO system. In the conventional P-DFD, the multi-access interference (MAI) is cancelled in parallel with the same treatment for each user. Unlike with conventional P-DFD, the proposed detectors perform detection user by user which feedback the current symbols of detected users. In order to further reduce error propagation the users are detected in an ascending order of the SNR at the output of the feed forward filter.

With the rapid growth of network technologies, many new web services have been developed to provide various applications and computing functions. these services rely deeply on the internet. therefore, packet classification is an important issue of network security that typically adopts a flexible packet filtering system to classify each processed packet. Traditional packet classification requires hung computing time to process large amount of internet packets. Hence, we propose a GPGPU-based parallel packet classification method to decrease the computational cost. We also evaluate the performance of the proposed method with implementation on various memory architectures of CUDA device. the experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve significant speed up over the sequential packet classification algorithms on single CPU.

We present the design, implementation, and an evaluation of Elastic Phoenix. Based on the original Phoenix from Stanford, Elastic Phoenix is also a Map Reduce implementation for shared-memory systems. the key new feature of Elastic Phoenix is that it supports malleable jobs: the ability add and remove worker processes during the execution of a job. With the original Phoenix, the number of processors to be used is fixed at start-up time. With Elastic Phoenix, if more resources become available (as they might on an elastic cloud computing system), they can be dynamically added to an existing job. If resources are reclaimed, they can also be removed from an existing job. the concept of malleable jobs is well known in job scheduling research, but an implementation of a malleable programming system like Elastic Phoenix is less common. We show how dynamically increasing the resources available to an Elastic Phoenix workload as it runs can reduce response time by 29% compared to a statically resourced workload. We detail the changes to the Phoenix application programming interface (API) made to support the new capability, and discuss the implementation changes to the Phoenix code base. We show that any additional run-time overheads introduced by Elastic Phoenix can be offset by the benefits of dynamically adding processor resources.
