To be competitive, today's organizations must protect their corporate information. Directives, regulations, and legal provisions, information security standards such as ISO, as well as sector-specific regulations and best practices such as SOX, HIPAA, and PCI are commonly used to protect information. Usually, however, this approach is not sufficient, and therefore a complex approach is needed, which only an information security system (ISS), specially designed for the relevant activity can provide. For this purpose, we present a method for designing ISS using Model-driven engineering and the use of the object-oriented language UML. We show how it can be used to represent models, both their architecture and their dynamic behavior. We also show how model transformation can be implemented using UML. © 2023 IEEE.

the present paper proposes and investigates the implication operation in multi-valued logic with a network configuration that connects co-operating two-valued propositional logics. this multi-valued network logic contains elements of sequential and hierarchically connected propositional logics. General formulas have been developed to describe the dependencies between logic states in multivalued network logic. A Kelly table for multivalued network logic has been compiled. Based on the obtained generalized formulas and the Kelly table, some inference rules in multivalued network logic are derived. © 2023 IEEE.

the paper presents the approach and the algorithm for the simulation of a fault-tolerant system with adjustable reliability. Simulation is largely used to model dependable systems because of its flexibility, the ability to study various system characteristics and states, and the possibility to represent system details close to its real application. the properties of the fault-tolerant system with adjustable reliability necessitate a specific approach. the system is distributed and uses components with different hardware redundancy to adjust the system's reliability to the requirements of the application. the developed simulation algorithm derives the system's dependability properties and supports the investigation of different component redundancy distributions which achieve the desired system reliability. © 2023 IEEE.

this article discusses the development of a system for facilitating the registration of student attendance in lectures, exercises, and laboratory sessions - CountMe, which has been tested in the 'Java Programming' courses at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Plovdiv University. the system implements a quick way to register attendance by shifting the time-consuming manual tasks from the instructor to the students. this is made possible through the widespread use of mobile smart devices, which, using QR codes, reduce the registration process to a few seconds. the system also provides attendance statistics for individual events as well as for groups of events, making it a convenient tool for instructors. the architecture and implementation of the system are briefly outline. © 2023 IEEE.

Semantic search is a type of advanced information search that is based on the searcher's intent as well as on the meaning of the searched terms and phrases in the relevant context, rather than relying only on their individual dictionary meanings. Classical approaches to the design and implementation of semantic search systems are primarily associated with the appropriate use of different types of ontologies or knowledge graphs, but recently these approaches are increasingly enriched or replaced by the utilization of modern language technologies and machine learning techniques. the paper discusses a methodology for application of specific machine learning methods and language technologies and information retrieval techniques in the development of a type of semantic search systems and presents its application in the creation of a virtual legal assistant. © 2023 IEEE.

the research goal of the presented experiment was to test if the current control plan can be improved through analytical modeling of the traffic by defining a bi-level problem and dynamically simulating the existing control plan and solving the analytical model. the comparison is done by queue lengths in an urban network of crossroads. Two models were developed for this purpose - a python-based package, named PAO and a solver were used for definition and solution of a bi-level optimization model and a microsimulation model was developed to test the results in a simulation environment named Aimsun. the results showed that the bilevel optimization led to better settings for the duration of green light but it also revealed that the originally measured settings provide good performance of the investigated traffic network. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, and especially during the on-going pandemic, the interest in investigating the dynamics of infodemics has increased to unprecedented levels. In this study we propose an agent-based model for the spread of misinformation, disinformation, and other similar information. the model is based on the susceptible-infected-recovered-susceptible epidemic interpretation. We introduce a rule-based reasoning module to model individual bias in the perception of information based on the psychology concept of illusion of knowledge. We integrate this module into a deliberative-reactive agent controller structure and a decentralized control scheme for the multi-agent system. Results show significant differences between the outputs of the proposed model and the classical version, impressing on the effects of considering local agent individuality when modeling human psycho-social interactions. © 2023 IEEE.
