Digitalization changes traditional business models by using digital technologies to improve existing offerings and to create new offerings. Current technological trends such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and predictive maintenance are ideal candidate technologies to enable digitalization use cases. Often, these technologies rely on the availability of large amounts of data and the capability to process these data efficiently. In contrast to consumer markets, industrial products must fulfill higher non-functional requirements such as fast response times, 24/7 availability and stability, real-time processing, safety, or security requirements. As a consequence, processing capabilities ranging from multicore and manycores to even high end parallel clusters have to be exploited to achieve necessary performance and stability needs. In this paper, we introduce a distributed Multicore Monitoring Framework (MoMo) which is a reference monitoring solution developed at Siemens Corporate Technology. It can be used to easily build efficient and stable diagnostic solutions which can help to understand the correctness, availability, reliability, and performance of large-scale distributed systems based on live data. Due to its small footprint MoMo can be used to analyze data directly at the data source which, for instance, can significantly reduce the network load. While MoMo's efficiency comes from the usage of multicore processors (CPUs) for running analysis in parallel, its usability is guaranteed by its capability to easily integrate with other monitoring frameworks and its usage of SPL - a domain-specific language which allows user to easily define diagnostic algorithms.

Cloud computing is one of the latest technology in the field of IT industries as well as research. It offers on-demand computing resources to the user on the rent basis. In this technology pool of computing resources named CPU, RAM, bandwidth, etc., are shared by the number of users. Virtualization is the technology which makes possible to the sharing of physical resources. Cloud is a complete business model. Hence, generating the highest revenue with user satisfaction is the prime objective of the cloud provider. As the cloud is the utility model similar to the electricity bill, so the revenue of the provider mainly depends on the time and the size of the resources which is used by the user. Our approach is also based on this consideration, i.e., time and size of the resources used by the user. this paper proposes a cost based resource allocation approach that will minimize the execution time, total completion time, and increase the profit of the provider along with the user satisfaction by giving the priority according to the cost paid by the user to the service provider for the used resource. this approach migrates the virtual machine from one physical host (physical machine) to another in order to avoid the overloaded and under load situation of the host. this approach is implemented in the CloudSim simulator in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach.

Next-generation 5G networks is the future of information networks and it will experience a tremendous growth in traffic. To meet such traffic demands, there is a necessity to increase the network capacity, which requires the deployment of ultra dense heterogeneous base stations (BSs). Nevertheless, BSs are very expensive and consume a significant amount of energy. Meanwhile, cloud radio access networks (C-RAN) has been proposed as an energy-efficient architecture that leverages the cloud computing technology where baseband processing is performed in the cloud. In addition, the BS sleeping is considered as a promising solution to conserving the network energy. this paper integrates the cloud technology and the BS sleeping approach. It also proposes an energy-efficient scheme for reducing energy consumption by switching off remote radio heads (RRHs) and idle BBUs using a greedy and first fit decreasing (FFD) bin packing algorithms, respectively. the number of RRHs and BBUs are minimized by matching the right amount of baseband computing load with traffic load. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves an enhanced energy performance compared to the existing distributed long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) system.

the structure of the food demand is shifting as the rising global population can afford more meat, eggs, etc. Livestock farming needs to reach superior productivity levels in an environmentally sustainable manner. In order to accelerate the development of the livestock industry, it is important to make optimal use of farming knowledge and provide farmers with adequate information technologies. this article describes the realization of a precision livestock management software that delivers monitoring and collaborative capabilities to improve laying hens health and welfare at industrial poultry farms. the online platform specified hereafter as zootechnical diary connects egg and breeding farms through cloud technologies to provide continuous data recording, automatic comparisons between actual and expected production indicators, e-networking and integrated data-flow between the two parties. Breeding farms benefit from enhanced competitiveness, improved supplier-client relationships, while egg farms enjoy management precision, timely feedback on animals’ health and economic benefits. the evolution of cloud-computing imposes many challenges on performance testing and requires not only a different approach and methodology of performance evaluation and analysis, but also specialized tools and frameworks to support such work. In traditional performance testing, typically a single workload was run against a static test configuration. the main metrics derived from such experiments included throughput, response times, and system utilization at steady-state. While this may have been sufficient in the past, where in many cases a single application was run on dedicated hardware, this approach is no longer suitable for cloud-based deployments. Whether private or public cloud, such environments typically host a variety of applications on distributed shared hardware resources, simultaneously accessed by a large number of tenants running heterogeneous workloads. the number of tenants as well as their activity and resource needs dynamically change over time, and the cloud infrastructure reacts to this by reallocating existing or provisioning new resources. Besides metrics such as the number of tenants and overall resource utilization, performance testing in the cloud must be able to answer many more questions: How is the quality of service of a tenant impacted by the constantly changing activity of other tenants? How long does it take the cloud infrastructure to react to changes in demand, and what is the effect on tenants while it does so? How well are service level agreements met? What is the resource consumption of individual tenants? How can global performance metrics on application- and system-level in a distributed system be correlated to an individual tenant's perceived performance? In this paper we present CloudPerf, a performance test framework specifically designed for distributed and dynamic multi-tenant environments, capable of answering all of the above questions, and more. Scheduling in cloud computing is an essential requirement to execute the tasks given as per the requirements. the scheduler orders the tasks according to the steps mentioned under the scheduling algorithms. the scheduling algorithms need to ensure that the cloud is functioning to the optimum efficiency as well as the tasks are given equal weightage. the way of execution of a scheduling algorithm differs from one another and hence a system, if established, to compare these scheduling algorithms will help the cloud service providers to work better and in a more efficient way as per the user requirements. In fact, it is very important to have a standard comparison system amongst the scheduling algorithms, as per now, there is no particular research done to compare and contrast the scheduling algorithm. this paper develops a set of environments and scenarios in order to differentiate the functioning of the scheduling algorithms. the following scheduling algorithms are studied: First Come First Serve, Shortest Job First, Opportunistic Load Balancing, and Generalized Priority Algorithm. they were put to test under the various environment and scenarios and were evaluated based on parameters such as Cost and Makespan. Based on these studies, an intelligent tool was developed which takes in the user preferences, such as the number of jobs, their preference of time metrics and cost metrics and suggests the scheduler about the number of VMs, and the Scheduling algorithm which should be used to accommodate the user requirements.

YouTube stars, Instagram influencers, and other social media personalities have achieved an elevated status in the popular imagination. this work-in-progress situates the valourization of digital fame in a socio-historical context, invoking critical theorist Leo Lowenthal's [20] "mass idols" framework. Examining the content of magazine biographies in the decades preceding World War II, Lowenthal identified a marked shift in cultural exemplars of success: from self-made entrepreneurs, politicians, and other "Idols of Production"-to the stars of cinema and sports, "Idols of Consumption." As an extension of Lowenthal's analysis, we examine contemporary magazine biographies (in People and Time) and self-Authored social media bios (on Instagram and Twitter). Based on a preliminary analysis of the magazine content and social-media profiles-including the crucial shift to selfauthorship- we outline a new generation of what we call "Idols of Promotion." these digitally networked public figures, we argue, straddle the realms of production and consumption as they labor to create and project a distinctive self-brand. We identify three key tropes that shape narrativizations of idols in the social media age: (1) a spirit of self-enterprise that crosses industry boundaries;(2) a promise of meritocracy;and (3) a call to express oneself authentically. After examining these tropes, we conclude with an examination of their ideological function: such mediated hero-worship, we contend, indexes larger anxieties about the individualization of work amidst a precarious economy. © 2017 Association for computing Machinery.

this paper presents a new hybrid HPSO-DE classification algorithm that combines the advantages of particle swarm optimization algorithm and differential evolution algorithm. Major improvements achieved by this combination are 1) flight improvement - flight behaviors are more and better diversified because each of the top 3 particles gets put into 3 different groups of the rest and then each group is mutated with a different operator and 2) particle improvement - members of a succeeding generation are composed of more of better particles than those of the current generation because better particles are allowed to produce more offspring. HPSO-DE and several other classification models were performance tested with 8 benchmarking datasets, and HPSO-DE was found to outperform them on 6 out of the 8.

the need for a safe and economically efficient traffic represents a challenge for creating traffic management systems. this paper deals with merging three basic concepts, namely cloud-based technologies, agent-based approaches and fuzzy cognitive maps to solve the localisation and path planing for several vehicles of different types in the form of independent agents, which communicate with a supervisory system located on the cloud. the proposed system was directly tested on a playground and obtained results were analysed using several selected criteria. Finally, some further possibilities of potential utilization and future research are mentioned.
