this paper proposes a modeling, simulation, and validation framework for large-scale technical Cyber-physical Systems of Systems withdistributed management architectures. the goal of the framework, which is based on the freely available Modelica language for object-oriented heterogeneous modeling, is to reduce the (currently very large) engineering effort for distributed management architectures while improving the quality of the designed system. the framework allows engineers to equip the management system with standardized interfaces, which will significantly increase re-usability of newly developed and legacy models. Furthermore, the overall CPSoS model, including the communication architecture, is generated automatically, making tedious manual implementation superfluous while reducing the potential of modeling errors, and the standardized, generic interfaces to which model components must connect to will provide a straightforward avenue for the deployment of management solutions to industrial hardware systems. A numerical algorithm is developed to solve direct and inverse dynamic problems in linear elasticity based on the Ritz met hod and finite element technique. the control problem is to obtain the rod motion from some initial state to terminal one at a fixed time withthe minimal mean energy. exact solution is round with a specific triangular space-time mesh and a piecewise polynomial displacement input. Sleep monitoring is an increasingly popular practice, both for medical and lifestyle purposes. In the case of infant safety monitoring, however, most of the devices used are inapplicable due to the utilisation of wires, cords, obtrusive sensors, constant radio wave transmission, low sensitivity and specificity. We proposed and are currently developing the second generation of a portable, unobtrusive infant safety system that can be fitted to most existing cots and can wirelessly tele-alert the infant's carers in case of emergency or other pre-defined circumstances. the MAIA system is based on the real-time algorithmic fusion of data obtained from multiple sensors distributed around the infant's cot, as part of a reasonably priced system which is quick to install, requires no alteration of existing infant care routines and demonstrates a high level of sensitivity and specificity.

Seamless cloud interoperability is highly desired but not yet easily attainable in the current cloud solutions market. this work tackles one aspect of achieving cloud interoperability, namely, inter-cloud networking. We list the requirements and propose an inter-cloud networking architecture for a case of independent clouds owned by different entities and powered by different cloud management and network virtualization technologies. then we validate the proposed architecture by describing an example of working implementation for Open Stack cloud powered by Open Daylight Open DOVE SDN solution. Finally, we compare our architecture to the existing solutions.

the reduced basis (RB) method is an efficient technique to solve parametric partial differential equations in a multi-query context, where the solution has to be computed for many different parameter values. the RB method drastically reduces the computational time for any additional solution (during the so-called online stage) once an initial set of basis functions has been computed (during the so-called offline stage) still retaining a certified level of accuracy. the greedy algorithm is the classical sampling strategy to select parameter values that define the set of basis functions. Here, an alternative and competitive approach for choosing the parameter values is presented. the new approach is based on an optimization problem for the parameters that allows to reduce the computational complexity of the offline stage of the RB method and improve its effectiveness.
