the cloud-based computing platform of FY-meteorological satellite ground application system carried more and more tasks, which need to improve the efficiency of tasking virtual resource utilization within the limited system resources. When resource mapping mission, which not only need to consider the priority of the task, but also consider the relationship between resource needs and allocated resources. According to these characteristics requirements, this paper proposed a resource mapping method based on multi-priority coefficient. First, the definition of task weights were given, and the definition of task queue priority factors were given according to the task queuing time. then, the correlation coefficient method was introduced to calculate the correlation coefficient between tasks required for processing resources and resource pool that can be allocated resources. Finally, task comprehensive priority measure were calculated according to the conditions of multi-resource mapping and the multipriority factors. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the cloud system resource utilization, and can meet the timely needs of multi-tasking.

Migrating business services to the clouds creates many high business risks such as "cloud vendor lock-in". One approach for preventing this risk is to deploy business services on different clouds as SaaS (i.e., Software as a Service) services. Unfortunately, such SaaS multi-cloud deployment approach faces many technical obstacles such as clouds heterogeneity and ensuring data consistency across different clouds. Cloud heterogeneity could be easily resolved using service adapters, but ensuring data consistency remains a major obstacle, as existing approaches offer a trade-off between correctness and performance. Hence, SaaS providers opt to choose one or more of these approaches at design time, then create their services based on the limitations of the chosen approaches. this approach limits the agility and evolution of business services, as it tightly couples them to the chosen data consistency approaches. To overcome such problem, this paper proposes SULTAN, a composite data consistency approach for SaaS multi-cloud deployment. It enables SaaS providers to dynamically define different data consistency requirements for the same SaaS service at run-time. SULTAN decouples the SaaS services from the cloud data stores, enabling services to adapt and migrate freely among clouds without any SaaS code modifications.

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET) are the largest real life application of ad-hoc networks where nodes are represented via fast moving vehicles. this paper introduces the future emerging technology, i.e., Vehicular Cloud networking (VCN) where vehicles and adjacent infrastructure merge with traditional internet clouds to offer different applications ranging from low sized applications to very complex applications. VCN is composed of three types of clouds: Vehicular cloud, Infrastructure cloud and traditional Back-End (IT) cloud. We introduced these clouds via a three tier architecture along with their operations and characteristics. We have proposed use cases of each cloud tier that explain how it is practically created and utilised while taking the vehicular mobility in consideration. Moreover, it is critical to ensure security, privacy and trust of VCN network and its assets. therefore, to describe the security of VCN, we have provided an in-depth analysis of different threats related to each tier of VCN. the threats related to vehicular cloud and infrastructure cloud are categorized according to their assets, i.e., vehicles, adjacent infrastructure, wireless communication, vehicular messages, and vehicular cloud threats. Similarly, the Back-End cloud threats are categorized into data and network threats. the possible implications of these threats and their effects on various components of VCN are also explained in detail.

the increasing success of Cloud computing applications and online services has contributed to the unsustainability of data center facilities in terms of energy consumption. Higher resource demand has increased the electricity required by computation and cooling resources, leading to power shortages and outages, specially in urban infrastructures. Current energy reduction strategies for Cloud facilities usually disregard the data center topology, the contribution of cooling consumption and the scalability of optimization strategies. Our work tackles the energy challenge by proposing a temperature-aware VM allocation policy based on a Trust-and-Reputation System (TRS). A TRS meets the requirements for inherently distributed environments such as data centers, and allows the implementation of autonomous and scalable VM allocation techniques. For this purpose, we model the relationships between the different computational entities, synthesizing this information in one single metric. this metric, called reputation, would be used to optimize the allocation of VMs in order to reduce energy consumption. We validate our approach with a state-of-the-art Cloud simulator using real Cloud traces. Our results show considerable reduction in energy consumption, reaching up to 46.16% savings in computing power and 17.38% savings in cooling, without QoS degradation while keeping servers below thermal redlining. Moreover, our results show the limitations of the PUE ratio as a metric for energy efficiency. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first approach in combining Trust-and-Reputation systems with Cloud computing VM allocation.

Geographically dispersed cloud data centers (DCs) enable web application providers to improve their services' response time and availability by deploying application replicas in multiple DCs. To allow applications requiring strong consistency to be deployed in multiple clouds, industry and academia have developed various scalable database systems that can guarantee strong inter-DC consistency with alleviated network overhead. For applications using these database systems, it is essential to take both the network latencies to the end users and the communication overhead of the databases into account when selecting the hosting DCs. In this paper, we study how to identify the satisfactory deployment plan (hosting DCs and request routing) considering SLO satisfaction, migration cost, and operational cost for applications using these databases. the proposed approach involves two steps. First, it searches the deployment plan with minimum amount of SLO violations using genetic algorithm when the application is first migrated to the clouds. then it continuously optimizes the deployment in a certain time interval according to the changing workload and the current deployment plan. We illustrate how our approach works for the applications using two databases (Cassandra and Galera Cluster), and demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach through simulation studies using settings of two example applications (TPC-W and Twissandra). Our solution is extensible to applications using other database systems that have similar properties.

Recent work has presented hierarchical deployment of energy storage devices (ESDs) at the data center, rack, and server levels within a data center, along with a corresponding control framework for peak power shaving and energy cost reduction under (time-of-use) dynamic energy pricing policies. However, the prior work does not use a realistic power delivery architecture of the data center with hierarchical ESD structure, and fails to account for some key characteristics such as rate capacity effect of batteries and power losses in various AC/DC and DC/DC converters in the power delivery architecture. this paper aims to overcome these shortcomings by (i) adopting a realistic power delivery architecture (from Intel) for centralized ESD structure as the starting point, (ii) presenting a novel power delivery architecture for data centers with hierarchical ESD structure, borrowing the best features of the centralized ESD structure from Intel and the distributed single-level ESD structures from Google and Microsoft, (iii) providing a mathematical framework for the optimal design (i.e., ESD provisioning) and control (i.e., Scheduling the charging and discharging of various ESDs) of the hierarchical ESD structure to minimize overall energy cost under dynamic energy pricing functions. this framework accounts for constraints on ESD volume (for each level) and the overall (annually amortized) capital cost, and power losses due to the rate capacity effect and conversion circuitry. the ESD design problem is solved by using a search-based algorithm, whereas the ESD control problem is formulated and solved as a hierarchical convex optimization algorithm. Experiments have been conducted using real Google cluster workload based on realistic data center specifications, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed optimal design and control framework.

Before deploying their infrastructure (resources, data, communications, ) on a Cloud computing platform, companies want to be sure that it will be properly secured. At deployment time, the company provides a security policy describing its security requirements through a set of properties. Once its infrastructure deployed, the company want to be assured that this policy is applied and enforced. But describing and enforcing security properties and getting strong evidences of it is a complex task. To address this issue, in [1], we have proposed a language that can be used to express both security and assurance properties on distributed resources. then, we have shown how these global properties can be cut into a set of properties to be enforced locally. In this paper, we show how these local properties can be used to automatically configure security mechanisms. Our language is context-based which allows it to be easily adapted to any resource naming systems e.g., Linux and Android (with SELinux) or PostgreSQL. Moreover, by abstracting low-level functionalities (e.g., deny write to a file) through capabilities, our language remains independent from the security mechanisms. these capabilities can then be combined into security and assurance properties in order to provide high-level functionalities, such as confidentiality or integrity. Furthermore, we propose a global architecture that receives these properties and automatically configures the security and assurance mechanisms accordingly. Finally, we express the security and assurance policies of an industrial environment for a commercialized product and show how its security is enforced.

this demo paper presents the FELIX project [1] approach of implementation the "High Quality Media Transmission over long-distance networks" use case. A virtual slice built on demand over European and Japan infrastructure allows to perform the experiments and shows capabilities of the test-bed and its availability for high quality media streaming experiments over a long distance federated network. It is also the first time when the FELIX Control Framework is used for provisioning the SDN resources for the experiments. Two experiments for use case implementation and validation in the FELIX test-bed are proposed and described.

Database can accommodate a very large number of users on an on-demand basis. the main limitations with conventional relational database management systems (RDBMS) are that they are hard to scale with Data warehousing, Grid, Web 2.0 and Cloud applications, have non-linear query execution time, have unstable query plans and have static schema. Even though RDBMS's have provided database users with the best mix of simplicity, robustness, flexibility, performance, scalability and compatibility but they are not able to satisfy the present day users and applications for the reasons mentioned above. the next generation NonSQL (NoSQL) databases are mostly non-relational, distributed and horizontally scalable and are able to satisfy most of the needs of the present day applications. the main characteristics of these databases are schema-free, no join, non-relational, easy replication support, simple API and eventually consistent. the aim of this paper is to illustrate how a problem being solved using MySQL will perform when MongoDB is used on a Big data dataset. the results are encouraging and clearly showcase the comparisons made. Queries are executed on a big data airlines database using both MongoDB and MySQL. Select, update, delete and insert queries are executed and performance is evaluated.
