We present a new model for encouraging people to get involved with monitoring and taking part in the life of cities. Cities could be smarter if IoT and people could serve as engaged and pro-active data resources (i.e., crowd sensing). this study tackles two challenges: methods by which the privacy of people who act as sensors/actuators can be guaranteed and methods to create a unified programming model for crowd sensors alongside other IoT functions. To achieve these goals, we introduce a new concept called Lokemon (Location Monster). Each sensing space is characterized as a personified target. Lokemon asks users to imagine themselves to be monsters associated with target spots when achieving sensing tasks. Lokemon is also expressed as a PubSub node so that the data from Lokemon can be easily accessed in the same way as data from IoT is assessed. the article explains the concept of Lokemon and its programming model. We report our evaluation of the effectiveness of Lokemon in a campus experiment that was performed for four weeks.

Software-defined networking (SDN) is an evolved concept to network's architecture with a centralized form of network controlling. the centralized nature of SDN has raised concerns regarding the high demand for communication on a single controller, which requires high performance to operate the entire network. Some previous studies have addressed these concerns by utilizing the similarities among SDN entries. In this study, we propose a renaming technique for the communication links that aims to increase similarities among SDN entries in order to improve the results of the previously proposed techniques. this model aims to continuously analyze the traffic status and rename input and output ports in a way that positively impacts the content of the entries produced by the controller. According to our preliminary experiments, the proposed renaming technique has the potential to increase the similarities across SDN entries by up to 57% with the amount of incoming traffic of 17,000, which can eventually improve the results of the related techniques.

the capacity to efficiently manage the whole set of resources from the edge up to the cloud paves the way to a new landscape of innovative opportunities for all involved actors, be it on the research or industrial sides. Fog-to-Cloud (F2C) has been recently proposed as a management solution particularly tailored to manage the stack of resources from the edge up to the cloud in a coordinated way. However, beyond the benefits brought by considering all the spectrum of resources to run a service, resilience, as a concept must be reflected in the F2C design. In this paper, we address a particular scenario where a specific node failure in the F2C architecture will substantially impact on the whole system performance, and analyse three tentative strategies to efficiently manage such scenario.

the post-discharge support is increasingly suggested for stroke patients to be discharged earlier and start rehabilitation at home. Considering that stroke patients usually have a high chance of recurrence, a good prognostic program is essential to improve diagnostic capabilities while reducing readmission rate to further save medical sources. In this context, various machine learning methods have been leveraged to obtain diagnostic findings and guide further treatments. However, those approaches mainly focus on performing analysis using a single data source obtained from the hospital, which could ignore the information complementarity between different groups of features and several subtle and discrete differences of physical interpretation among them. In this paper, we propose an Edge-based system design for post-stroke surveillance and warning prediction, called P-SMART (Post-Stroke Mobile Auxiliary Rudiment Treatment), for processing enriched pathogenic factors of ischemic stroke from multi-sensors (views) to make readmission warning predictions. Our approach can considerably enrich the distinctive features from raw data, as well as exploit the consistency and complementary proprieties of different views, leading to better learning results. We evaluate the performance of the proposed approach on a real-world dataset, and the accuracy can reach up to 98.98%. Moreover, experiment results also show that our proposed approach can provide better accuracy when compared to the single-view ones.

Applications like Big Data, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and even other Engineering and Scientific research requires a lot of computing power;making High-Performance computing (HPC) an important field. But access to Supercomputers is out of range from the majority. Nowadays Supercomputers are actually clusters of computers usually made-up of commodity hardware. Such clusters are called Beowulf Clusters. the history of which goes back to 1994 when NASA built a Supercomputer by creating a cluster of commodity hardware. In recent times a lot of effort has been done in making HPC Clusters of even single board computers (SBCs). Although the creation of clusters of commodity hardware is possible but is a cumbersome task. Moreover, the maintenance of such systems is also difficult and requires special expertise and time. the concept of cloud is to provide on-demand resources that can be services, platform or even infrastructure and this is done by sharing a big resource pool. Cloud computing has resolved problems like maintenance of hardware and requirement of having expertise in networking etc. An effort is made of bringing concepts from cloud computing to HPC in order to get benefits of cloud. the main target is to create a system which can develop a capability of providing computing power as a service which to further be referred to as Supercomputer as a service. A prototype was made using Raspberry Pi (RPi) 3B and 3B+ Single Board Computers. the reason for using RPi boards was increasing popularity of ARM processors in the field of HPC

Control model is the basis of UAV group. It determines the direction of control data flow as well as the structure of UAV group. In this paper, an improved central-distributed UAV group control model is proposed and the structure of UAV group under this model is derived. this model overcomes the problem of lacking robustness of centralized model and the complexity of fully distributed model as well as has the characteristics of modularization and autonomy. At the same time, the existing algorithms for the perception module of UAV group under this structure can be greatly simplified. the computing tasks that need to be passed to the ground control station can be done inside the UAV group.

With the development of information technology and the increasing richness of network information, people can more and more easily search for and obtain the required information from the network. However, how to quickly obtain the required information in the massive network information is very important. therefore, information retrieval technology emerges, One of the important supporting technologies is keyword extraction technology. Currently, the most widely used keyword extraction technique is the TF-IDFs algorithm (Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency). the basic principle of the TF-IDF algorithm is to calculate the number of occurrences of words and the frequency of words. It ranks and selects the top few words as keywords. the TF-IDF algorithm has features such as simplicity and high reliability, but there are also deficiencies. this paper analyzes its shortcomings for an improved TFIDF algorithm, and optimizes it from the information theory point of view. It uses the information entropy and relative entropy in information theory as the calculation factor, adds to the above improved TFIDF algorithm, optimizes its performance, and passes Simulation experiments verify its performance. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

Whether in a happy mood or a sad mood, humans enjoy listening to music. In this paper, we introduce a novel method to identify auditory features that best predict listener-reported enjoyment ratings by splitting the features into qualitative feature groups, then training predictive models on these feature groups and comparing prediction performance. Using audio features that relate to dynamics, timbre, harmony, and rhythm, we predicted continuous enjoyment ratings for a set of happy and sad songs. We found that a distributed lag model with L1 regularization best predicted these responses and that timbre-related features were most relevant for predicting enjoyment ratings in happy music, while harmony-related features were most relevant to predicting enjoyment ratings in sad music. this work adds to our understanding of how music influences affective human experience.

Analysis of people trajectories is key for implementing effective urban computing applications. Nowadays, social media represent one of the main sources of information concerning human dynamics within urban context, allowing to enhance the comprehension of people behaviour, including human mobility regularities. the paper presents an approach to predict human mobility by exploiting Twitter data. the prediction method is based on a hybrid approach combining frequent pattern mining, trajectory similarity and supervised classification. the trajectory pattern similarity allows to identify the more suitable historic patterns to exploit for the prediction of the user next location. If none of the patterns satisfies the similarity threshold, a set of spatio-temporal features characterizing locations and movements among them are combined into a supervised learning approach based on M5 model trees. the experimental results obtained by using a real-world dataset show that the proposed method is effective in predicting the user's next places achieving a remarkable accuracy and prediction rate.
