Context-aware access control is one of the most frequently used methods for making authorization decisions in pervasive computing environments. To the best of our knowledge, most previous relevant researches resorted to centralized schemes to preserve all the contextual information. As a result, they neglected actual circumstances where the sources of contextual information are generally decentralized among multiple management domains with different security policies. For the sake of cross-domain access control, in this paper we present a distributed context-aware authorization mechanism for pervasive computing applications. With the help of logical language theory, we demonstrate how the proposed model can attain the goal of effective reliability assurance and privacy protection by way of constructing a decision tree dynamically, according to the current contextual information. © 2019 ACM.

the Internet of things (IoT) is transforming our physical world into a complex and dynamic system of connected devices on an unprecedented scale. Connecting everyday physical objects is creating new business models, improving processes and reducing costs and risks. Recently, blockchain technology has received a lot of attention from the community as a possible solution to overcome security issues in IoT. However, traditional blockchains (such as the ones used in Bitcoin and Ethereum) are not well suited to the resource-constrained nature of IoT devices and also with the large volume of information that is expected to be generated from typical IoT deployments. To overcome these issues, several researchers have presented lightweight instances of blockchains tailored for IoT. For example, proposing novel data structures based on blocks with decoupled and appendable data. However, these researchers did not discuss how the consensus algorithm would impact their solutions, i.e., the decision of which consensus algorithm would be better suited was left as an open issue. In this paper, we improved an appendable-block blockchain framework to support different consensus algorithms through a modular design. We evaluated the performance of this improved version in different emulated scenarios and studied the impact of varying the number of devices and transactions and employing different consensus algorithms. Even adopting different consensus algorithms, results indicate that the latency to append a new block is less than 161ms (in the more demanding scenario) and the delay for processing a new transaction is less than 7ms, suggesting that our improved version of the appendable-block blockchain is efficient and scalable, and thus well suited for IoT scenarios.

With the rapid growth of large online social networks, the ability to analyze large-scale social structure and behavior has become critically important, and this has led to the development of several scalable graph processing systems. In reality, however, social interaction takes place not only between pairs of individuals as in the graph model, but rather in the context of multi-user groups. Research has shown that such group dynamics can be better modeled through a more general hypergraph model, resulting in the need to build scalable hypergraph processing systems. In this paper, we present MESH, a flexible distributed framework for scalable hypergraph processing. MESH provides an easy-to-use and expressive application programming interface that naturally extends the "think like a vertex" model common to many popular graph processing systems. Our framework provides a flexible implementation based on an underlying graph processing system, and enables different design choices for the key implementation issues of partitioning a hypergraph representation. We implement MESH on top of the popular GraphX graph processing framework in Apache Spark. Using a variety of real datasets and experiments conducted on a local 8-node cluster as well as a 65-node Amazon AWS testbed, we demonstrate that MESH provides flexibility based on data and application characteristics, as well as scalability with cluster size. We further show that it is competitive in performance to HyperX, another hypergraph processing system based on Spark, while providing a much simpler implementation (requiring about 5X fewer lines of code), thus showing that simplicity and flexibility need not come at the cost of performance.

Scientific workflows have become mainstream for conducting large-scale scientific research. As a result, many workflow applications and Workflow Management Systems (WMSs) have been developed as part of the cyberinfrastructure to allow scientists to execute their applications seamlessly on a range of distributed platforms. Although the scientific community has addressed this challenge from both theoretical and practical approaches, failure prediction, detection, and recovery still raise many research questions. In this paper, we propose an approach inspired by the control theory developed as part of autonomic computing to predict failures before they happen, and mitigated them when possible. the proposed approach is inspired on the proportional-integral-derivative controller (PID controller) control loop mechanism, which is widely used in industrial control systems, where the controller will react to adjust its output to mitigate faults. PID controllers aim to detect the possibility of a non-steady state far enough in advance so that an action can be performed to prevent it from happening. To demonstrate the feasibility of the approach, we tackle two common execution faults of large scale data-intensive workflows-data storage overload and memory overflow. We developed a simulator, which implements and evaluates simple standalone PID-inspired controllers to autonomously manage data and memory usage of a data-intensive bioinformatics workflow that consumes/produces over 4.4 TB of data, and requires over 24 TB of memory to run all tasks concurrently. Experimental results obtained via simulation indicate that workflow executions may significantly benefit from the controller-inspired approach, in particular under online and unknown conditions. Simulation results show that nearly-optimal executions (slowdown of 1.01) can be attained when using our proposed method, and faults are detected and mitigated far in advance of their occurrence. Hydrological data is characterized by large data volume and high dimension. In view of non-hierarchical dimension data in hydrological data, this paper proposed Segmented Parallel Dwarf Cube (SPD-Cube). Firstly, a high-dimensional cube is divided into several low-dimensional segments. then by calculating the sub-dwarf of each low-dimensional segment, the storage space required for cube materialization is greatly reduced. Finally, combining Map/Reduce technology to construct, store and query several sub-dwarfs in parallel. Experiments show that SPD-Cube not only realizes highly compressed storage of data, but also realizes efficient query by combining Map/Reduce distributed parallel architecture.

the Proof of Work (PoW) consensus mechanism used in Bitcoin, along with other concepts, makes it increasingly popular. In this case, researchers introduce a new quantitative framework to analyze the security and performance implications of the various Consensus and network parameters of the Proof of Work Blockchain. Emerging innovative technology can be called Blockchain. Blockchain is a distributed digital ledger where transactions are recorded after verification. Transactions in the General ledger that have been verified by multiple clients in the Peer to Peer network using one of the many varied consensus algorithms to resolve problems within the network involving multiple nodes that cannot be used. the algorithm to be used is Proof of Work (PoW), a protocol that has a function to prevent cyber-attack activities (DDos) that can weaken a computer system resources. the idea behind the PoW algorithm is that certain jobs are done to block transactions before they are proposed to the entire network. For that, using the PoW consensus algorithm certificate on the Blockchain is certainly the creation of a real certificate and cannot be manipulated.

RDMA networking has historically been linked closely and almost exclusively with HPC infrastructures. However, as demand for RDMA networking increases in fields outside of HPC, such as with Hadoop in the Big Data space, an increasing number of organisations are exploring methods of introducing merged HPC and cloud platforms into their daily operations. this paper explores the benefits of RDMA over traditional TCP/IP networking, and considers the challenges faced in the areas of storage and networking from the perspectives of integration, management and performance. It also explores the overall viability of building such a platform, providing a suitable hardware infrastructure for a fictional case study business.

Network virtualization has distinguished itself as a clear forerunner when it comes to being the catalyst in enabling cloud computing and satisfying the needs of future data growth. In the field of mobile broadband networks, frameworks such as Software Defined networking and Network Function Virtualization have emerged to be the key concepts used in implementing Network Slicing - the core of developing 5th Generation networks. 5 G cellular networks are supposed to accommodate the ever-increasing data explosion and hyper-dense installation of base stations thanks to their capacity to leverage connectivity and cost-effectiveness. 5G networks can accommodate far more applications concurrently than the existing infrastructure easily and efficiently. this is particularly relevant in view of the fact that the Internet is going to be used by around 41.6 billion linked users by 2025. Many will require guaranteed access to cloud services to function safely, like autonomous vehicle systems and industrial sensors. Whilst 4G networks (which use the Internet Protocol and Wifi, wireless and reaction-based networking) dominated the environment of telecommunications, Artificial intelligence Technology has advanced, along with its numerous sub-categories, including machine learning and deep learning, which was ready for delivering 5G networks for individuals to tackle the decreased bandwidth capacity of 4G. this project encourages us to create location optimization technologies that chooses ideal places for services antennas, ensuring the best potential coverage and use computer training algorithms to distribute resources dynamically to minimise user interference and to save energy.
