With the rapid development of cloud computing, more and more applications are deployed in the cloud. this trend brings cloud infrastructure providers to build distributed data centers to provide physical resources for multi-domain-deployed jobs of these applications. However, the heterogeneity of resources and the different execution periodicity of tasks in jobs pose great challenges to the efficiency of large scale job executions. To solve this problem, we propose a periodic task-oriented scheduling architecture in cloud computing. this architecture provides resource domains for the scheduler to shield the details of the underlying heterogeneous resources. Moreover, it implements job-level scheduling and task-level scheduling by our proposed PTS algorithm and RMDU4T algorithm to improve the execution efficiency and resource utilization. Experimental results show the proposed architecture can reduce the scheduling times to less than 10% and reduce the average job completion time by 10%similar to 40% under different distribution of tasks and resources, and the CPU resource utilization is improved by about 15%.

Aiming at the fine-grained sentiment classification that distinguishes the emotional intensity, the commonly used dataset SST-1 is analyzed in depth. through the analysis, it is found that the dataset has serious problems such as data imbalance and small overall scale, which seriously restricts the classification effect. In order to solve the related problems, data augmentation method is adopted to realize the optimization of the dataset. the IMDB and other data which are relatively homologous to the original dataset are annotated, and the focus is to expand the categories with fewer numbers. By this way, the problem of data imbalance is effectively alleviated and the original data scale is expanded. then, based on the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model, which has good overall performance on natural language processing, the benchmark classification model is built. through multiple comparison experiments on the original dataset and the enhanced data, the influence of the deficiency of the original dataset on the classification effect is verified. And, it is fully demonstrated that the enhanced data can effectively improve the test results and solve the problem of large differences in performance between different categories well. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Edge and fog computing are emerging concepts extending traditional cloud computing by deploying compute resources closer to the users. this approach, closely integrated with carrier-networks, enables several future services, such as tactile internet, 5G and beyond telco services, and extended reality applications. the emphasis is on integration: the rigorous delay constraints, ensuring reliability on the distributed remote nodes, and the sheer scale altogether call for a powerful provisioning platform that offers the applications the best out of the underlying infrastructure. In this paper we investigate the resource provisioning problem in the edge infrastructure with the consideration of probable failures. Our goal is to support high reliability of services with the minimum amount of edge resources reserved to provide the necessary redundancy in the system. We design a resource provisioning algorithm, which takes into account network latency when pinpointing backup placeholders for virtual functions of edge applications. We implement the proposed solution in a simulation environment and show the efficient resource utilization results achieved by our fast heuristic algorithm.

distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) is becoming an even more complex problem with the migration of these services and applications to shared and centralized cloud infrastructures. Application layer Denial-of-Service attacks (ADDoS) is an special type of DDoS attacks, and the main problem in mitigating these attacks is because attacker requests are similar to legitimate clients. this paper proposes to use the scalability feature of cloud infrastructure as a defense from high-rate DDoS attacks, and selectivity defense to mitigate low-rate ADDoS attacks. Experiments are conducted in an OpenStack cloud environment to show that the combined use of selectivity and autoscaling can be used as a defense against low- and high-rate DDoS attacks.

Alluxio is a popular distributed memory storage system, which becomes increasingly important in big data ecosystem by providing high performance storage for computing framework. We point out that there are security vulnerabilities in cache mechanism, data short-circuit read/write mechanism and consistency check mechanism of Alluxio, which may result in the failure of data availability and integrity. Firstly, we find that the lack of limitation of cached copies in the cache mechanism causes the malicious memory consumption attack. An adversary can craft a malicious job to consume the scarce memory storage at a low cost, which will significantly influence the performance of normal users with a degradation of 20%-59%. Secondly, we are aware that the lack of access control and integrity check on the data block will lead to target file tamper attack, in which a target file cached in memory will be modified and considered correctly as long as the size remains unchanged. the tampered file will be read and thus causes a wrong result. Finally, we discuss some corresponding countermeasures for defending these two kinds of memory cache attacks.

Traditional phishing detection methods are mostly based on computer platforms and cannot be directly applied to mobile devices. this paper proposes a new two-dimensional code phishing detection method called LogoPhish. We use the logo to determine the identity between a two-dimensional code's actual identity and the described identity. the method includes two processes: logo extraction and identity detection. the first process uses a mobile phone to scan the two-dimensional code to extract the logo and perform image processing. the second process uses the Google image search engine to determine the identity of the logo. Since the relationship between the logo and the domain name is exclusive, it is reasonable to use the domain name as an identifier. the experimental results show that LogoPhish has a good effect and is superior to the traditional detection method in the detection of two-dimensional code phishing attacks.

Lattice quantum chromodynamics (lattice QCD) is a mainstream non-perturbative theoretical calculation method. It's for studying quantum chromodynamics (QCD) using lattice quantum field theory, by defining field variables at discrete time-space points and large-scale Monte Carlo numerical simulation calculation. It's computing results can directly compare with the experimental results, but the conventional computing platform is difficult to meet the large-scale and high-precision lattice QCD computational simulation demand. Sunway TaihuLight is the first supercomputer with peak performance over 100Pflops in the world, which provides a new platform for the calculation of lattice QCD. But the efficient large-scale parallel lattice QCD computing faces many difficult problems in implement. In order to realize the efficient calculation of the lattice QCD in Sunway many-core processor, we designs a parallel acceleration calculation method of lattice QCD on Sunway Architecture in this paper. A new parallel computing method is put forward, and the method of data segmentation, data transmission and parallel computing is improved and optimized. Finally, the test data is used to test the optimized parallelization computing method proposed in this paper and the original serial computing method. Experiments show that the parallel optimized computing method can achieve 63 times performance improvement compared with the original serial computing method.

Medical data is invaluable in medical diagnosis. With the recent advance in Internet of things (IoT) and non-invasive sensing, massive medical data can be gathered in real-time but how to process them efficiently becomes a big challenge for e-Health applications. In this demo paper, we investigate the idea of employing Mobile Edge computing (MEC) which can provide computing resources close to the end devices with a variety of computation offloading models to facilitate real-time medical data processing. To evaluate this idea and find out which computation offloading model can achieve the best performance, we implement COMEC where a video-based heart rate detection APP is running in a MEC environment based on Open Air Interface (OAI). Experimental results have shown that the best performance is achieved under multi-layer offloading model where both the edge server and the cloud server are employed.

the emergence of mobile devices and wireless services brings unprecedented traffic demand, which causes the bad quality of experience arises in traditional reactive networks, such as long loading time and loss of responsiveness. this paper presents the heuristic prefetching caching strategy in 5G networks, which prefetches content based on its historical frequency in order to improve the quality of experience. the cache of the base station is split into the proactive one and the reactive one. the proactive cache prefetches the popular content within the limit of capacity for a sum total maximum of frequency, while the reactive one caches others with the ordinary caching algorithm. At each period, we adjust the proportion of the proactive cache to minimize latency based on the idea of Simulated Annealing. Under the circumstances where all the content is predictable, our caching strategy improves hit ratio by 20%. And it reduces latency by 15% in the architecture of 400MB small base stations and even 52% with 200MB small base stations, which could enhance the quality of experience to a great degree.

In this article, we present designs for a Multi Winner Proof of Work (MWPoW) consensus primitive. MWPoW is a consensus protocol that places the group mining idea directly into a protocol to prevent power centralization, higher general reward expectation among participants and shorten the interval time of block generation. It makes every miner a component of one of three groups assigned by the network, not as an individual competitor;all users in the winner group receive compensation. the hash difficulty is higher than ordinary blockchain because there are only three parties in the system. MWPoW powered block-chain is more secure from tampering. the blocks can be quickly final accepted without later block confirms, which makes it possible for block interval time to be minuteness. the experiment suggests the hash rate of MWPoW is around 1500 times larger than Nakamoto blockchain while it only requires about 1 second to finally accept a block in the lab environment (with 3-second block interval). MWPoW is universal profitable (the mining remuneration is much more distributed than Nakamoto block-chain).
